Yeah it's strange the Koei strategy games got a lot of localizations ever since the NES days, but staple RPGs like the East of Eden series didn't

Koei gamers get a lot of pussy.

I just wish I could understand the love for this one. I've heard it's the peak of the musou genre, but outside the graphics, ost, and a couple of the characters, it's an absolute misery to play:
>npc's you're supposed to escort or that follow you will get side tracked by the most basic mob enemy wasting a significant amount of your time
>generals can autoblock instantly and, again, waste a significant amount of your time
>can get stunlocked by two generals and a ranged mob killing you and wasting your time in the sense that you'll have to restart an entire level, sometimes from very late into the level
>super vague goals on missions often leave you clueless on what you're supposed to actually do

It's hard to imagine why people perfer this kind of musou compared to their more modern counterparts. There are some likable aspects for sure, but they are greatly outweighed by some awful modern design.

>game about telling your guys to go kill some other guys
>maps are involved in some way
i'm always fucking down for it regardless how the game goes about doing it.

IMO, I hated SW2 until I exclusively played as characters with a decent guard break move, or weird moves like Ginchiyo's C6 where the AI will always drop their guard and try to poke you but eat your shockwave instead.

These games are exclusively for middle aged Japanese men, some Chinese pirates, and autistic teenagers.

East of Eden was too wacky and Japanese and the earlier games were on the PC Engine, the western equivalent of which no one bought
It was already a miracle that the Goemon games manage to be brought over, now make it a JRPG and one with an expensive dub
