What does /vr/ think of Undercover Cops?

the evil scientist guy's stuff has logos of the same organization that you fight in In The Hunt.
A small imprint of irem's attempts to make a universe, however brief it was. there was also a fighting game where the final boss was a bydo representative. perhaps it would have tied together eventually.
anyway, the game itself, amazing pixel art, kung fu jesus is my favorite.

It's good, beautiful graphics, nice gritty urban semi future dystopia and fun gameplay.

>SNES port
Shame it lacks 2 player, has too few on screen enemies and the graphics took a big hit. They ported this in mid 95, shame it wasn't to the PS1 and/or Saturn which could actually handle the game.

It was actually made in large part before then (there were Japanese ads promoting the release and the game was in a presentable state at CES 1993). Apparently IREM was going to release it themselves, but shelved it for whatever reason. Varie picked it up a while later and released it.

Not much to say. The M72 was Irem's first NEC V30 based arcade machine and had many variants (UC Cops is on the M92, specifically). They featured a very distinct color palette with fairly muted/desaturated colors, which I think looks pretty cool.

Akio and the guy who later did KOF's sprites (I forgot his name) had a very detailed technique, it's crazy how they evolved with time, specially comparing Akio's R-Type (which was already great) to his later work.

Crazy how much of a gooner character Rosa is yet all the skin we see is the one shown in that pic. 90% of her sprites are sexy (sometimes also goofy) poses, but shes doing them while wearing baggy casual clothes that cover almost everything. I think they originally wanted her clothes to rip off when she does her ultimate move but they discarded it.

>The Japanese version features several attacks: wake-up attacks (mash the buttons/joystick after being knocked down), running jump attacks (double-tap forward then jump and attack), Super Desperation Moves, and all but one type of throw (including unique auto-throws at the end of combos). All of these attacks were omitted in the International versions.
For what reason?

Have a look at their whole library, it's not that large.

It's not a beta, just intentionally stripped down because japs thought american asshoes r too stupid for supeliol japanese gamepray.
another irem arcade beatemup that had significant changes is hook. they totally changed the color palette and took out the female boss fight from the us version. replaced with an extra hook fight
