Is it worth getting?

No it sucked but having turbo buttons was kind of cool
>>
It was worth getting in 1993, but not today.
>>
>>12360515
This. Turbo buttons were a must for some games, but the d-pad is superior for every game I tried.

Just get a Sansui Joycard SSS. Advantage is AIDS.

Western insects can't into stick

The NES Advantage was designed and manufactured by a Japanese company called Asciiware.

For you, yes. It will really help you fit in with your discord buddies.

It was never worth getting
>>
>>12360512
i remember using tis to beat smb 3 when i was five. i had a lot of fun with it.

it was probably shit, but i was too young to care.
>>
>>12361087
>beat smb3 when I was five
bullshit, you might have made it to world 8 but you didnt clear it
>>
>>12360512
Not really. It's a toy joystick made to fool consumers who don't know any better. It's nothing like an arcade lever. Most of them tended to gather dust after the owner realized they were doing better with the control pad.

These days, it's a historical curiosity.
>>
>>12360525
Famiclones sold in central and eastern Europe often came with turbo buttons
>>
>>12360512
As others have noted, the advantage is great for mash heavy non platformers but not much else.
>>
>>12361118
3 didn't even have the made castle like 1. It's definitely easy enough for a five year old with nothing but time in his hands to beat.
>>
>>12361869
all of world 8 is significantly harder than any level in smb
>>
>>12360512
>>12360532
>>12360601
If you use this you didn't beat the game
>>
>fight stick for a console without fighters
>>
>>12360512
Not really. It's cool, but the domed stick is pretty bad, and only barely suitable for topdown games.
I'd break it out on occasion as a kid, just because it looked and felt cool (and because it was our only turbo), but only use it for a little while before going back to the gamepad, because the stick was simply worse than a DPad.

>>12360516
Dubious. If you retrofitted one now for a microswitched stick it could be cool, but it was poor for playing on as is even by the standards of the time.

>>12360532
I'm assuming he wants the arcade-ish feeling of a stick, otherwise he would have asked about conventional turbos.

>>12361087
Impressive if true. Warpwhistle?
>>
>>12362086
Probably not, because the advantages of the turbo were in most people's cases offset by the disadvantage of the stick.
I don't mind turbo for a few games, since some of them would promote RSIs at my age.

>>12362261
I don't think i was smart enough to find them back in 90. Pretty sure it was just a couple months solid of slamming into brick walls until i just lucked into winning. >>12361904

Lol

Yes.

Based. You could clobber someone with this thing, it's that solid. I completed Famicom Gradius II with this one, shit was so cash.
>>
>>12362557
The NES Advantage is also pretty hefty and clobbable. Not so good to play with though.

I bought mine back then, because it was being sold for the same price as a standard controller.

Think he used the glove in his diddling escapades?
>>
>>12360512
I've only used it a couple times. The buttons were nice enough for Contra and Super C but the stick fucking sucked and controlling NES games with something other than a D-Pad always feels like shit to me anyway.
>>
Where's the guy that swore by it?
>>
>>12362393
>how dare he agree with common consensus, he should be a contrarian like me!
What the fuck else do you want people to say about the NES Advantage when asked?
Most people who have used it will tell you that it's not particularly good, and I too am one of them and will back his opinion, I think the joystick is mushy and lacks precision.
It can sooorta work for topdowns, but is awfully clumsy for sidescrollers (something the NES has in great abundance, and probably does best).

>>12362975
What?
>>
>>12360512
No. People who liked that controller eventually became redddit users.
>>
>>12366234
People will only chuckle in disgust when asked about the turd. Only posthuman memelings will say it's good for anything. And only the most pathetic of trying too hard to fit in children will say something good about it and then indignantly cope and backpedal. Absolutely humiliating.
