The soundtrack is forgettable, stage designs are brown and bland, there's constant segments of dead air, the dreamlike ethereal feel from the first game is totally lost, the game is much easier and they removed the credit system, they completely removed the alternate camera angles, and manual fire is now completely useless outside of shooting down projectiles.

Star Fox 64 and Sin & Punishment pound this (and the first game) into the dirt.

>The soundtrack is forgettable
Zwei's OST is overall more solid than PD1's imo, though nothing beats the music of Stage 1 in PD1
>stage designs are brown and bland
The first game is also very brown, and Zwei has more spectacle
>there's constant segments of dead air
Not really constant but yeah there's some waiting in places, whatever
>the dreamlike ethereal feel from the first game is totally lost
How so? If anything Zwei has a lot more trippy visuals. Only the first stage of PD1 comes off as ethereal to me, the rest is pretty mundane.
>the game is much easier
Did you take the hard routes? Also Zwei is more fair, PD1 just has some moments that seems impossible not to take damage.
>and they removed the credit system
What do you mean? Beating the game in 1 credit is a condition to unlock Pandora's box
>they completely removed the alternate camera angles
There were different camera angles in PD1? Never noticed and never needed them
>and manual fire is now completely useless outside of shooting down projectiles.
Same as PD1 then
>Star Fox 64 and Sin & Punishment pound this (and the first game) into the dirt.
I do think S&P and SF64 are a lot more technical and demand more from the player than PD, but PD has the uniqueness of having the 360 rotating camera. They are all great in their own right

Opinion discarded since it comes from a non-human (a tendie)

The 360 camera wasn't a good thing, you constantly have to readjust your cursor every time you shift, there should be a setting to choose between 90° or centered on that direction, and it should also let you freely rotate if you want to, instead of restricting you to directional shifts to be able to pan fully. Also, only being able to dodge from the front just makes the whole thing feel very stilted.

They tried to be different and failed, the game has good vibes but the gameplay and stage/boss design are trash.

N64 had a very small library but the games it did have are some all-timers.

embarrassing post, I disagree with 100% of its content

>muh spectacle
The stages are utterly braindead and filled with constant segments where nothing is happening. Fanboy drones are so weird man, feel the need to defend everything their corporate overlords shit out.

Play Sin and Punishment, now that is a masterfully crafted and paced game. Never a dull moment, never a pointless mechanic.

I already said I like S&P and deemed it better than Zwei. Are you falseflagging to instigate console wars?

Wrong you stupid nigger.

>Pandora's Box
>This wonderful extra appears in the Options menu after you finish the game
once.
>However if you fulfil one of these
conditions, every option in the box will open up, they are:
>Have a save game from "Panzer Dragoon Saga" saved to your Saturn's memory.
>Have a "TOTAL TIME" of 30:00.
>Have a "BEST SHOT DOWN RATIO" of 100%.
>Have a "TOTAL CLEARED GAME NO." of 20.

How the FUCK did they program it to unlock everything using the save of a game that didn't exist!?

Love Zwei and the world of Panzer Dragoon. The series has so much sovl. If its not your thing that's okay. I would reccomend a few full plays finding every route and trying for all the dragon evolutions before totally writing it off tho.

OP is a falseflagger who hasn't played any of the games he mentions
>>

The Saturn sucks. Sorry you had to learn this way.
>>
>>12364547
I did the other routes and they were really underwhelming, they're basically impossible to find because you have to be hugging the far pixel of the screen in a very tiny window (which you basically need full instrument to even find), and even then it's basically just a slightly different flavor of the exact same level and enemies, it's nowhere even remotely near as interesting as something like Star Fox 64.

I'm not sure how you grow your dragon, I just thought it happened as the game progressed as I noticed I was getting a lot more HP and lock-ons, I averaged like 90% something shot down so I think I got one of the later forms.

I was thinking of going for 1CC, but honestly the game is so ass I already moved on. It doesn't help that the game is so slow-paced and can't actually design interesting bossfights so just makes a single attack take 50% of your health and give the boss a massive fucking health pool.

Many such cases.
>>
>>12364617
This is a highly unpopular, contrarian opinion in the case of Zwei though.
>>
>>12364827
It's really not, Zwei is way less popular for a reason.
>>
>>12364838
>Zwei is way less popular for a reason.
Is it? From my experience both are looked at fondly but Zwei improved on practical everything. Have never heard anyone claim PD1 is overall better outside of a few subjective categories like music or aesthetic.
>>
>>12364838
No, the reason 1 is more popular in the actual sense of the word is because it was ported to more platforms.
Zwei stayed Saturn exclusive and continues to be, which angers the anti-saturn person
>>
for me, it's panzer dragoon saga
>>
Zwei is a really fantastic game, it's one of the games you can point to and say "see? sega used to be really good".
>>
>>12365032
That's pretty sad then because Zwei is an embarrassment compared to SF64 and S&P
