It seems like family-friendly entertainment has lost the edge that it once had. If you compare older animated films or E-rated games to modern ones, the dark or violent moments have basically been filed away.
What are some of your favorite (relatively) dark moments or segments from E-rated games?

You know, I was actually going to inb4 this retarded Twitter meme, but I really thought that /vr/ must at least be intelligent enough to know that saying something is relatively dark doesn’t mean you find it shocking as an adult. But no, you really are THAT stupid.

>so what video game spooked your shit, or did you just jump straight to watching nightmare on elm street because your parents are retarded?
My sister forced me to watch Alien with her on VHS when I was 6 years old, so no children's vidya spooked me after that.

This game is almost a proto Castlevania. You start at the smurf's house backyard but that's the only cute part of the game, the rest is slowly making your way to Gargamel's castle, being attacked by bats and going through dark swamps and caves, and the castle itself has this primordial dark look to it with that giant skull you need to jump over to get to Smurfette.
It could've been a more flowery and innocent game but it's rather somber for being a kid game

These days real life is much more dangerous with higher crime rates so people want to escape that when they engage with fiction. Back then it was the opposite, real life was safe so people wanted to experience danger in games.

Its worth remembering that the E10+ rating did not exist until the mid-2000's, so stuff that would get such rating today either got an E or T rating back in the day. Ocarina of Time wasn't dark enough for a T rating, so it got an E instead.

I don't know, did the same people that raided this board also raided other boards? My theory is that all the shitposting, sega spamming, frogposting, are actually from the same group that hacked 4chan who see themselves as the Joker from TDK or some retarded shit like that.

In Alex Kidd in High Tech world if you do anything illegal to the main guard at the end of the level in the first town or annoy the other one in the middle he pushes you onto the ground and points a gun to your head.
