false. I watched the X-Games where Bob Burnquist won the vert while playing Ages on my purple GBA, after clearing Mario Land a few times and watching a Courage the Cowardly Dog marathon. You will never be a gamer.

>i had more fun doing it than you ever will
lol not even close and its actually embarrassing that youre so removed from actually enjoying vidya that youd think that.
between LA and these games (i had ages) this was probably almost half my time on my GBC. this blind rush to simply "beat it" and be done with it, as if thats the point of a fucking adventure game, can only come from some broccoli-haired aiden-ite mutt whos primary vidya exp has been watching streamerfags play games for them. the entire concept of losing or having to retry something is completely foreign to you. you literally see a foundational aspect of vidya as a mediumie having to actually beat it to see the endas "too much of a hassle". i bet you literally looked up some of the puzzles in ages too didnt you?
we couldve had a cool oracle/ages thread
instead you decided to be a faggot and make another b8 thread

I can't imagine ever playing any retro video game without fast forward/save states. How does anyone have the time to replay the same shit over and over again without any gain? I'm an adult with responsibilities. Wish gaming was my career... At least I'm not a fat loser...
>>
>>12595742
I got one of these when it came out, I grew up with alttp. These seemed "off-brand" somehow, like a C-team made them. I still remember liking it but wasn't enamored with it, I only have a vague memory of some dungeon.
The GBA and Golden Sun released right after so I played that instead.

>without any gain
If you're practicing and you aren't gaining skill then... you have much, much bigger problems than being too busy. If you are mentally competent, you might spend a few hours practicing a short game like Castlevania until you're skilled enough to finish it; or you might spend those hours watching one or two movies. Either way, it shouldn't be a huge deal for you.
If gaining skill (even in an activity that appears to be frivolous) isn't enjoyable for you, then you are certainly a loser, fat or not. Actually a fat person might be better off, since fat can easily be lost by anybody who is mentally competent. But if you've got a bad brain... well what are you going to do, replace it?

The trade quest is aids, I ended up just using a guide. The lava soup is made in the underground volcano zone but you need the iron pot, you get the iron pot by trading some hoe a ghastly doll, you get the ghastly doll from Maple who takes your lon lon egg, and so on..

the trade quest is easy, just make sure you're talking to everyone in a new area. it's all nicely set up to progress with the game. it's also optional.

>oh wow I spent 2 hours learning a castlevania stage so much that I can go through it without taking a single hit, wow what an accomplishment I'm so much more healthier now this is exactly like working out! I got so much out of this it wasn't a complete waste of time and its totally not a completely useless skill/knowledge/time
Based on a true story, yeah I played the "legit" way, it wasn't more fulfilling, it wasn't more fun, it was a complete waste of time I'm proud of using savestates on retrogames even more now knowing the anti savestate are full of shit.

I just googled it; apparently both games are roughly 17.5 hours each. If this is correct, that means that OP spent roughly 35 hours gaming in a single weekend. Is noone else going to comment on this? Are people on this board actually under the impression that this is normal or sane?
>>
>>12606717
That estimate feels a little inflated, it’s probably a lot easier to get through one of them if you’ve just finished the other, and it was a three day weekend for us Americans. For the average 4chinner who doesn’t have any real life friends to spend the weekend with, that seems pretty normal.
>>
>>12606717
You forget that 1. Most people are retards who can’t play children’s games without a guide, and 2. He is using fast forward and rewind to rush past stuff. He could probably beat each of them in about 8 hours.

16 hours of gaming in a single weekend is still excessive, is it not? It's not just this thread; I'm utterly shocked at how much time some people spend gaming, especially on this website. I fucking love videogames and play them whenever I get the chance, but 16 hours in one weekend still seems absolutely degenerate to me. Am I in the wrong here?

EmuDeck says I spent 8hrs in Seasons, it failed to record how long I played Ages.
It would have been less than that tho cuz a lot of time was just spent idle. If I had to estimate, I would say Ages was about 8hrs and Seasons was more like 5. Exploring a area with fast forward and rewinding when you reach a dead end saves a shit load of time.
I'm a broke white nigga living in the suburbs, there ain't much to do around here.

Why even play games at all, what are you gaining by reaching the credits faster?
Fun comes from figuring how to solve problems by trial and error, if you consult a guide to see how someone else beat a difficult part you're not even playing yourself but imitating someone else's playstyle, which skips the fun part of playing and takes the fun out of interacting with the game's challenges.

Using savestates =/= using a guide
You still solve the problems the yourself.
