Cold Alma

I've just begun playing through Blight. I quite enjoy the world, characters and exploration - very charming and full of heart. The simplicity makes it look effortless, yet the whole thing oozes quality that only passion projects attain. The fights are a bit dull and easily the worst part of the game so far, but I assume my opinion will change once it gets more demanding in further chapters. I hope I won't prove to be too low IQ for hybrid classes if they become necessary.

Biggest thing with Asylum's lategame and postgame fights is learning the attack rotation for each and making a strategy around that. Stuff like learning what turn to incite with your tank and when to pop their invincibility skill is really important. A general tip is to dark resist brands and light attack brands (non-elemental skills, both physical and elemental, can change element with these), and the Cloak or Armor of Scala for Malice. Dark resist ring, Rainbow colored ring and Piro's ring are great too.
I would also suggest doing Aryaum Mirage Grotto a bit if you need to get stronger. It's the best way to get to level 99, and the Aryaum Jewel and familiar robes are really busted when you do enough floors for stat points.

Very interesting location. It finally reminded me that the world I'm exploring, although colourful, is actually postapocalyptic. I've always enjoyed the creations that managed to seemlessly introduce darker undertones into primarily happy-go-lucky narratives. Right behind the corner starts some sort of futuristic factory. It's even better that the areas always feel fleshed-out enough and never seem to drag. It was a graveyard a minute ago, it is a desolated basement now, and in a minute it will be a volcano -- not a moment to get bored.

I'd really like to see non-h CGs during story moments and stuff like that. Even more art during combat would be nice, and having custom animations or even animated sprites would be absolutely amazing but I know that's a huge amount of work. He uses CGs well during h-scenes, but I feel like the story often lacks dramatic impact even though there's a lot of cool stuff that happens and it's obviously the main focus in terms of playtime.

They go more into it in awake and colony, actually. Each copy has a copied personality of the user that can be further imbued with a desire via writing on it. I don't really want to further spoil who gets magical puppet scenes though. Just keep going.

I find it hard to believe that there were people on that forum who were actually capable of having a conversation on a somewhat decent level. It makes the whole situation even more depressing. He says the game’s progressing well and he’ll be done with the main scenario in about a month. Lots more left afterwards, as we know from past dev logs. Events, random dialogues and h-scenes take a while to implement.
In the Q&A: One of the questions was a guy pleading for hakika to add skunk scenes. He said he’ll consider it since at the end of the day, it’s optional. But at the same time, he’s reluctant to add scenes that not many people would like. What do you guys think?

To be more exact, the "magic" is in the world building, character design, and scenario writing (including h scenes). Everything else is about what you would expect from an eroge. The OST gets an honorable mention too. His throughput as far as releasing games is impressive of course, but not a necessity for success.

Hakika already laid out the groundwork for success if you follow his model. The important work would be inventing your own detailed world, securing a good artist if you're not a decent one yourself, and tailoring your content to your intended audience.

Honestly the games work very well, I'm not sure I would change that many of the core elements. I'd focus maybe more on having very mysterious worlds that really makes you wanna explore them like in Asylum while maintaining a more overall cheerful and light, fun tone like that of Awake.
I think I'd also add some form of party chat that can be from anywhere in the world just like in DQ, and not just as precise spots on some maps. That would be fun.
three things I'd absolutely change though:
- Add a way to keep track of what status and debuffs have been applied on enemies, with a counter for how many turns remain until said effects expire. Having to keep track of all these counters mentally gets exhausting during long boss fights. Not sure why it's never been a thing.
-I'd remove the postgame grind entirely, I think it just sucks. Not every game has it bad in that regard, it was okay in Colony, but I thought it was especially retarded in IR with the castle stuff.
-I'd also slow down on the fetishy and extreme stuff in favor for more vanilla scenes. Don't like the direction the scenes have been going in since Asylum/Kludge, but that's just my tastes.

Banter is the main reason I'm playing Sequel games, so add more of it. Something like party member messages when entering some area Manatank, Nazuna just got lost again. Bonus points for actually making her vanish until you go back in addition to the somewhat longer already available exploration spots.

Also, not taking two steps backward for every step forward he takes in game design. Grind is cringe and in every Sequel game I've save edited after beating the respective postgame bosses.

I like the new art and I love Etrian Odyssey too. Hakika's art is still noticeably his own, doesn’t matter that he changed the shading to be less like Himukai’s. I always thought that hakika’s artstyle change was because he could draw in a higher resolution for the MZ games too.
