Should have known when I read the store page and it said "this game is hardcore blablabla no handholding" it always means "will waste your time with nonsensical difficulty spikes and obtuse save systems".

Does it get better? I'm fine with it being hard, what I'm not fine with is having zero indication of what I'm walking into with no way to learn other than being sent back to the last inn visit (and even then, you can easily be RNG'd to death by things you previously had no issues with). Surely a warrior dwarf in armor shouldn't have to fear 3 bats?

It does get better. But check your stats. If you're using a 2H, your fumble chance is probably very high. Bats will dodge when you fumble.
I usually pump agility for the first few levels to get fumble down.

The problem with Stoneshard is it's been stuck in development hell for like 20 years. They really should have finished the game by now.

Will try that, thanks.

It's been fucking years and they are just larping around milking the EA. They have no intention of reaching anything looking like a 1.0 this year, and next year is doubtful.
It's just going to be a sandbox-till-you're-bored + quarter yearly updates to tempt you into playing it for 1-2 hours again

more like stoneshart.

This is the problem with all these games that purport to be some sort of realistic hardcore survival brutal world sim whatever. They pretend to be brutal and realistic but really they're just stacking the odds against you and forcing you to wikifag or metagame.

I can absolutely accept that a elephant-sized troll will smash me and I should have ran way. A single fucking wolf when I'm clad in chainmail and using a longsword though?
>>
>>3913438
Wolves were pretty trivially for me to kill when I got to level 6 though...
I'm not even good at this game but damn I didn't know that anons were THIS bad at video games.
>>
>>3913440
The wolf was an example not wolves in Stoneshard specifically.
>>
aborted early access slavjank, shame about the pixel art. You can't even create ur own character in this "rpg"
>>
>>3913507
The steam forums are always fussing about the lack of character creation after every update.
There are a load of preset mercenaries, but it's like with any game, when given the option people always want to make their own.
>>
>>3913507
Devs keep saying custom character soontm, but it's always next update, we promise.

bruh, TB was still alive when this game was first released. lmao
>>

This game will never be finished, the gameplay loop gets stale very quickly, and it's obnoxious that everyone walks like a South Park character.
Not to mention that the demo deliberately makes the game look more appealing than it is.
>>
This game loves to waste your time for no reason at all
For example you need to travel few "map squares" towards a dungeon or other town?
You need to hold the direction key all the way there, we are talking like 1000 turns of just holding one of the "WSAD" keys.
Why they couldn't implement a system where you "plot" your course on a map like in CDDA and then the game just takes your character there on its own only stopping when visible enemies appear?
Fuck you thats why

He's the kind of person that can't imagine not having had breakfast this morning, don't bother
>>

>You need to hold the direction key all the way there
Just mouse click on the other end of the map. Your little bobbing head will find his way there.
Then speed that up with a speedhack program, if you want.

But they do still need to do something on their end to improve wandering time.

Do not facetank if you can help it, especially early on. Play dirty. Don't fight fair. It's intended to be "realistic". And just so y'all know, if you are in a fight against two professional, desperate, murdering, thieving bandits, you're dead. Those bandits? That's how they make their living. By killing overconfident dumbasses like you. Like. It's their fucking job that they do every day. And there's two of them.

The reason it will never be finished is that the dev was caught blabbing on Discord that he spends all the money to buy street drugs. He's literally an eastern european drug addict and the "game" is his scam to get drug money. Druggies don't work. They certainly don't sit in front of a computer doing technical labor for hundreds of hours. The months in between tiny pathetic updates? That's when he's been shacking up with some fool and is kinda clean for a week or two.
Literally. You can't make this shit up.
>>
>>3913788
>Druggies don't work
They do. Unfortunately.
>>
>>3913788
I actually bought the game, but I don't buy it again every time there's an update.
Does it really get them enough new sales to keep the drugs flowing?
>>
>>3913787
Another fucking dev that doesn't understand why people play RPGs.
If I wanted to be a mediocre weakling I could just play real life.
>>
>>3913788
>>3913814
not really they raised the price at some point too so everyone who wanted the game already got it. I pirated it back in the day and had fun for a bit until... meh.
>>
>>3913787
>Like. It's their fucking job that they do every day.
No, bandits very rarely have to or want to kill and when they do it's against those who provide no challenge.
Desperation and a lack of talent isn't a profession. You're p. dumb.
>>
>>3913787
Bandits at the start are just desperate thugs and peasants. They're hardly professional.
Your main character starts out as someone who has experience fighting, more experience than them, and you can definitely take on two bandits.

stoneshart

this game is the most hardest RPG game i've played but in a very satisfying way. i love it.

accidentally fireballed one of the elves somehow while i was trying to buy wine for a quest and found out that there's no way to fix your relationship with npcs
killed my save file
>>
>>3913758
>>3913780
this game needs a world map travel like elona, and every time there is a encounter is when you enter the map
>>
>>3919624
The game is easy, no idea what people find so hard about it
>>
>>3913821
You're playing real life all the time. Even now. And you're definitely a mediocre weakling, in literally every way.
>>
>>3913843
In the context of the conversation, the first commenter admitted that they posed no challenge.
But more seriously, they're bandits. They're desperate by definition. That's literally the definition of what a bandit is. Which is why they're called "desperados" in Spanish, for one example. And they kill because it's easier than asking nicely and being told no and then arguing about it. They don't give a fuck about their victims. Because they're desperate. Remember?
Fucking imbecile.
Your mother wiped back to front and got pregnant with you.
>>
>>3913860
They're more professional than any fucking dumbass who tries to fight all by themselves against a group of bandits.
Also, if you were literate, you'd have noticed the part where it was explicitly explained that they're the bandits who have survived while being bandits. Otherwise they wouldn't be bandits. They'd be corpses. So they're as professional as anyone can be who kills for a living.
Including the player character. Case in point: the player character they fucking murdered because he came here to cry about it.
>>
>>3913814
Not really. Which is why it's abandonware. You'll notice that the updates don't happen for years in between.
>>
>>3920418
>That's literally the definition of what a bandit is. Which is why they're called "desperados" in Spanish, for one example.
The Spanish term for 'bandit' is 'bandido'.
