Having done a playthrough with each, the best for me is definitely Deborah. She has a lot of personality, and her party chat alone makes the game 1000 times better. Plus she is more unique than the other two gameplay wise.

And to top it all off, she is the hottest. What else can a man ask for?

the first time I played it was the DS version. I didn't really care for any of the options, but knew about the kids so I went with Deborah so my son would have the same hair color as my dad.
