What are your thoughts on FF4 3D?

Is the DS version completely obsoleted by the PC port?

The DS version is the definitive version for me, with the best features and most challenge/difficulty, making every other version before it obsolete including snes/psp/gba etc.
The PC port has difficulty options, normal is easier than the DS version, Hard is about the same. So if you play the PC port you need to set it on "hard" to have a similar experience. The DS version has no difficulty options, it's just hard by default.

I like the DS version, play it on my Switch now, just for portability. Don't really feel like playing it sitting at my PC>

PSP remaster patched with the pixel remaster music+3D remake TAY music is the definitive version.

The PC port uses an awful mobile UI. It's playable, but the UI on the DS version is unquestionably superior.

DS remake is gay and retarded

I never really got the hype for 4 in the first place. After playing it on GBA these graphics didn't sell me at the time.

DS is the best one to play if you desire a challenge and want the best overall experience. There is so much to do in the post-game too. Superbosses are great.

it's the best version of the game
still an 7.5/10

>still an 7.5/10
that's astronomical for an rpg.

PC on hard mode + Pixel Remaster OST and bugfix mod. You can also increase the framerate and speed up the insanely slow combat in the process. The DS has a shit aspect ratio. You're basically playing the game in portrait mode on your phone, while PC isn't far off from widescreen. Consolefags aren't capable of being objective. They're driven by emotion.

Or we played it on handhelds, DS/3DS, which look fine as intended and can play on the toilet and in bed, before sleeping, which is where jrpgs should be played.

>sitting up straight at your PC, playing an old rpg
literally peasant tier

>best overall experience
It's way too slow to be that.

Damn, I need to play the DS version it seems. I've only ever played the spoony bard SNES version.

You would be doing yourself a great service playing the DS version. Go emulate it or buy it if you can.

It's 2026. You emulate it on PC or Switch or you play the native PC port. I have a 4k/240hz QD-OLED monitor with a comfy chair. Playing games in front of my PC fills my whole field of vision. It's also connected to my TV on the other side of the room which lets me play whatever from the couch. Again, it's 2026, not 2006 or 1986.

>tfw have the pixel remaster on switch
>but I'm emulating the DS version on my Switch
>it has fast-forward
thank you based MelonDS
now it's perfect

I've tried to play the DS port on PC several times but the phone game UI just kills it for me. I havent tried the PR version yet so I dont know how that is, I should probably get on that.

just emulate the DS version brah
you can upscale it anyway and make it look better

I like the chibis

I played 3 on ds and got filtered at the final dungeon then tried playing the after years on PC. It was so bad it made me swear off all the 3d DS remake abominations. Good luck navigating dungeons and solving puzzles with 40 percent of the screen visible compared to the pixel versions.

Probably my favorite version of the game. picrel.

Proto-Babel is a fucking bitch in his last phase when he starts spamming instakill spells.

Never beat it cause I'm not much of an FF4 fan. That game's story is dumb in the non-fun kind of way and it's way too linear.

That game's main innovation was ATB, which to the SNES version's credit, is unique in its underlying mechanics.

Emulate the SNES original on PC. This is always the correct answer.
