The classic Trails games are so comfy to me. The remake is great, but it's not as cozy to me as the original. It's so comforting and relaxing to me.

Yeah, when the games were introduced to me, it was couched with "It gets really good, but it's super slow and you have to stick with it, but it's rewarding if you do." And it is rewarding, but that slow journey is its own reward to me. I love how the game takes as much time as it wants to tell its story and let you spend time with these characters. I love how almost every element of the gameplay is contextualized in the story and the lore. It's just right up my alley.

>each chapter is its own story arc
I get the feeling that used to be more of a JRPG thing before they started taking story too seriously. Like how you're dealing with individual dragons in Lunar 2, for example.

I've been playing through the remake of FC and I'm having more fun with the gameplay of the remake than the original. I feel kinda bad for dropping it though.
I love all of the characters in this game so much. Even the basic NPC feel like characters involved in the whole story with how they're usually involved in the bracer quests.
I'm currently in the final dungeon and goddamn. the fucking music for the place is amazing. In fact the whole OST is fucking amazing. There is not a single track in this game that gets tiring to listen to.
September can't come any sooner man.

i don't really get all the people who keep harping the "slow and low stakes" mantra, the only part of the game (all 3 of them) that has that feeling is the first part of the Ruan chapter in FC.
People see - you are hunting after sky pirates, as like ... eating toast somehow and it just makes no sense to me at all.
They have so many games out there where you're also going from place to place and solving that place's problems while following a bigger storyline, but it seems like people just peg TiTS as being some kind of exception instead of being very standard in the genre in regards to that.

The reason is that the sky pirates are unrelated to the big bad and so it's seen as irrelevant i.e. slow meandering quest stuff, instead of seeing it as character growth for Estelle, proving herself as a Bracer, and introducing characters relevant to the story (later).

I love the way that the story can impact the gameplay, sometimes in really tiny ways, but like how at one point in the story Seig goes missing, and for that little chunk of the story, Kloe can't use her craft that involves summoning him. Just the details like that really impress me.

FC in particular is underrated as hell, everyone just sees the superb ending and pretend that the rest of the game is mediocre. But the reason you genuinely care about Estelle and Joshua in the ending is because of the very well built relationship that slowly progresses through the entire game. The worldbuilding is solid. The plot moves without you being there. It's truly a breath of fresh air.
