I am making a game suspiciously resembling EU4, what realism features, mechanics and other misc things did you feel Eu4 lacked? Making a list to take note of.

If you make every game play out exactly the same, then you will have perfect realism. After all, if your game always follows history, then you have the perfect historical simulator.

Right, that’s why computer models can determine a patients race by looking at x-rays, different races have different rates of different diseases, different ages of puberty, different mean IQs and brain structures, and why it’s difficult to find a match for organ/marrow transplants outside one’s race, because it’s all made up and genes aren’t real. They can't because race isn't real. Ancestry is largely pseudoscience, literally all they do is compare different averages. You can draw the line however you want. You choose race because you are working backwards from a conclusion. I could just as easily divide everybody based on the city or town they live in and gain as reliable results.

1: Race isn't real real. You are working backwards again. 2: Any two people have different rates. The difference between two African men is as great as between a African and European men.
This whole thing comes from people not having finished high school education and not understanding how basic biology works. There is no such thing as race, all people actually do is compare averages to other averages. Creating utterly meaningless results that are only good for vaguely guessing your ancestry (Vaguely because in reality we don't know the actual genetic information of people from the past, so we are just comparing current people to profiles that might not even be accurate).

Race is made up pseudoscience pushed by guilible idiots that can't argue. Ironically, it is far more often associated with low iq and poor education than ancestry or ethnicity.

I already did: It's working backwards. You can't tell race apart because race isn't real. People drew a arbitrary line, and that line doesn't actually mean anything because it's based on nonsense and pseudoscience.

what I don't like is that most of those games you play as a Dictator ultimately. you command science, politics, the military, financial instruments and everything else so they are basically god simulators in a sense and you're just playing against other gods. it'd be more interesting if it was about the rise to power. you pick a general area on the political spectrum and then you establish ideologies and push your agenda. be it through peaceful means like campaigning and trying to find supporters or being a guerilla fighter and bombing the embassy, organizing with external forces, spreading propaganda, converting/assassinating/executing/terrorising/helping people and effectively provinces. you could recreate a modern day arab spring and train suicide bombers or you could decide to go to art school in austria first. i think that'd be more interesting as a concept and many grand strategy / 4x concepts could be transferred/renamed/applied easily to it.

You can't because it's just a arbitrary line. You can use ancestry to view what cities people are from just as much as your arbitrary line, but I doubt you are going to argue Barcelonan or Londoner is a race.

I did consider a degree of slapping CK2,3 character dynamics in to constrain the player. It’d actually be the only way to realistically simulate tribal nations and succession issues that India had that allowed their conquest, then over time this mechanic becomes less relevant as the state becomes more ascendant

Realismfags are the worst game designers by far, as they apply extremely limited and misguided perception of "realism" to selective elements of the game that are usually their hobby matter, and then the game sucks due to having disjoined mess of mechanics.
Design a functional game, first and foremost. Striving for its realism is wasting everyone's time, for it's going to be still a limited simulation.

The problem with trying to simulate race is you have to then figure out mechanics with racemixing and how smart/violent/whatever different combinations turn out and stuff and it all just gets too complicated, better to save it for fantasy races that can't breed with each other
