>watch the butterlord land on the 1 pixel of land containing several enemy parties with a personal retinue of like 60 guys
>proceeds to thank me for coming to his aid, then heads off over land back to his nearest castle continent away (we are nowhere near a field army, fief to attack, or vlandia's lands at all)
>engages 5 parties of random nobles, villagers, and bandits no matter how opposite direction or how disorganized his 30 surviving men become.
>finally gets back to rightful vlandian clay of battania after 8 days
>pulls 180 troops out of back pocket and goes on about his business ruling Calradia's strongest faction

Anon who entered /mbg/ in the divegrass tournament this past summer here. I signed the team up for an invitational that should be taking place this next weekend and maybe the next one but it's going to be much smaller than the other one at 8 teams instead of 96. This is the tentative roster. This tournament only allows 2 silver players per team instead of 3 so Battania FC and Mommy Empress have been demoted while Sea Raider has been promoted back to silver. Positions are still TBD because I'm fucking around with tactics but if you guys want to see different starters or player positions changed up let me know. I can also modify player models if they aren't too difficult for a retard like me to do

I-I-I play as a female character because uh uh, I like to play archer, and as a archer having a small hitbox is very important so you won't get hit by projectiles! The female character model is 75% of the size of a male character and then you can also make yourself the minimum hight that way noone will be able to hit you during a seige! Haha! It's all just meta gaming as I obviously don't fantasize about being a 20 year old girl cauae I play on fast mode with life and death enabled since I like my words dynamic! This means, to play optimally I had to offered myself up for marriage and get impregnated back to back a few times to make sure I have backup characters to play as incase I die, which is obviously not because I have a breeding kink! I just fucking love archerlord haha

I am starting an Aserai playthrough. What mods should I use?
>Unblockable Thrust
>RTS command
>Diplomacy
These are the only 3 I have installed now. My main concern is stability, since all of my games have had to end before I wanted because the game just crashes constantly which I assume is due to heavy mods.
What should I add, or should I remove

I've been using the below in my campaigns without issues. Trying to keep minimal for compatibility as well.
>Show Skill Limit
>Weather Indicators
>Diplomacy
>RTS Camera
I cannot play without the fast forward feature of RTS Camera. It removes so much tedious waiting in battles and in stealth missions.

Is Distinguished Service mod just not working?
I've tried the version with no DLC requirement and the Redux version. Both just don't do anything

Is War Sails worth buying? Everyone in the reviews seems to be bitching about how terrible naval combat is; which is no surprise to me, but I've seen that Taleworlds also locked Vikings and the map changes to the DLC, which no one seems to really be against?

There are many Rome mods for warband, check the warband mods section on the official forum. The one I've seen recommended the most is Aut Caesar aut Nihil, and while it is good, it starts when Rome is already at the apex of its power, so it's probably not a good choice if you want to actually do the Roman conquests (but it has in-depth Emperorship mechanics with policies, revolts etc)
There was also a Russian mod with a large emphasis on legions and serving in one as a soldier and rising all the way to legate or something but AFAIK they've never finished it
If you only care about battles and not the overmap campaign gameplay then feel free to download any of the numerous multiplayer-only Rome mods and play with bots

I'm not a fan of her new dedicated armor set. It lacks femininity, and the helmet makes her head look compact. Also, it'd be good if TaleWorlds updated their earlier assets so they match in graphical quality.

It depends on your randomly generated father and mother during game start. I noticed this when I had a peter dinklage sized brother. You can hit back and forward to reroll your parents until you get white aryan blue eyed blonde hair parents that are 6 feet tall or till you get BBC race mixed edition.

What mods should I get for the first time playing bannerlord? I have like 200 hours in warband but that was like idk 10 years ago, but I remember warband well enough.
My friend tells me the companions are really bad in bannerlord and have no story is that true? He says stuff like the map is better than warband and I loved the warband map. A lot of bannerlord just makes me want to play warband but I'm gonna try to stick with bannerlord. So.. what mods! (and I guess any other tips)
I read the pastebin but it's 6 years outdated.
>>
>>2320601
>My friend tells me the companions are really bad in bannerlord and have no story is that true?
They are essentially randomly generated using templates. They all have a specific background (you can found multiple with the same background throughout the playthrough), and their initial skills and personality will depend on that background.

Im thinking of buying Butterlord due to playing a fair share of Warband in my past.
But can you get pregnant playing as a female/impregnate multiple wives/concubines as male?
Is there some lair/castle/house building mechanic where you can build something of your own rather than just conquering prexisting towns?
Is it possible to play a comfy mid level trader without going all out into wars and sieges with everyone? Is there a survival aspect now with food and sleep?
Mods welcomed desu.
>>
>>2335932
>Im thinking of buying Butterlord
i wouldn't if i were you.
it lacks the small roleplaying features that made warband feel alive. but it runs better than warband by a lot, looks better, has very nice qol features especially menus and has bigger battles (1000 troops).
mods haven't added the lords' interaction features to warband level yet.
you'll be missing warband while playing bannerlord but won't be able to have fun in warband after tasting the qol features bannerlord has.
>can you get pregnant playing as a female
yes
>/impregnate multiple wives/concubines as male?
with mods, yes. although the best sex mod imo is still not updated. Primae Noctis.
>Is there some lair/castle/house building mechanic where you can build something of your own rather than just conquering prexisting towns?
no
>Is it possible to play a comfy mid level trader without going all out into wars and sieges with everyone?
yes. they even went full retard and allowed the player to hold towns as a non-faction so no one can declare war on you once you pay them for peace.
idk how viable is trade right now.
>Is there a survival aspect now with food and sleep?
no
>Mods welcomed desu
a gorillion mods are basically a requirement to make bannerlord fun yet you will still miss interacting with lords since no mod has them implemented properly.
and desu, it's not the modders' job to do it.
>>
>>2335932
>But can you get pregnant playing as a female/impregnate multiple wives/concubines as male?
You can get pregnant, it has no gameplay effect. If you are male you can only impregnate your wife
>Is there some lair/castle/house building mechanic where you can build something of your own rather than just conquering prexisting towns?
No, sadly.
>Is it possible to play a comfy mid level trader without going all out into wars and sieges with everyone?
Sure you can be a trader. Gets boring quick though. Might be a bit better with War Sails.
Is there a survival aspect now with food and sleep?
No, sadly.
I say get it on sale, along with War Sails. Definitely not worth full price if you have hundreds or thousands of hours in warband and go in expecting upgrades all around.
For people who have little to no experience with warband I say go ahead and buy it full price and they will still have a great time.
>>
>>
>>
>>2335932
>multiple wives and pregnacies
Try Dramalord. You can have lovers, break up and marry again, you can let enemy ladies out of prison with sex.
>comfy trader
Very much possible
The start is slow, but a trade only run is more than possible. Find reliable trade routes, have your companions run caravans. Once you max out in trade, you can just buy fiefs and conquer this way. Definitely use the "workshops completed mod". Xorberax Legacy also has a banking system if you want to engage in it.
>survival aspect
Not really
>lair/castle/house building
You can develop conquered castles and towns, and they even change visually according to wall levels. But besides that, no. There is a mod called player settlements that lets you do it though.

When I get to the mid/late game where I have a big army and signed up as a vassal, how do I leverage that into actually expanding the faction against larger opponents? I signed up with the underdog faction with only 3 towns left (nords), and it feels like no matter how many battles I win personally, all the lords escape prison instantly and I can't do shit against a 1200 horse archer doomstack with my 200 nord infantry while my faction keep throwing armies half that size to their deaths
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2336809
>with my 200 nord infantry
you need to create clan parties and run with a clan army 24/7. a clan army costs zero influence to call and upkeep.
now you're running with 500-1000 troops instead.
and if you install party AI controls to prevent donations, all those troops are now tier 5 so you can easily win battles where you're slightly outnumbered without many casualties.

Is the Lucon simp still around? I started an Empire run (the kind where I actually read stuff) and you were right. Within the context, the history, institutions and customs of the Calradian Empire, he has the most legit claim/true to what the empure is supposed to be out of the 3.

Finally looking to go deep into the Butter before I start a RoT playthrough. What are the essential/recommended QoL and vanilla+ mods? Pastebin says its modlist is "Coming Soon™."
>>
>>2338031
Norf FC Empire is the best to join as Lucon is old as fuck. He will usually die first of the three rulers, letting you take over.
Western Empire has the best aesthetics, and is bretty gud if you want to retvrn to a early roman style Empire.
Southern Empire is for being a Rhagaea simp.
>>2338454
Imo, the essentials are:
>diplomacy
>Xorberax Legacy
>Tutelage
>Improved Garrisons
>Fouberie (for rogue/bandit runs)
>>
>>2338031
>>2338463
I'm no simp but it should be obvious to anyone that the northern empire is the only empire that isn't built on bullshit and lies. The empire was never mono-dynastic and the Neretzes were in power before Arenicos, Arenicos simply came in clutch after Pendraic, clans playing musical chairs on the throne is literally the oldest tradition. Rhagaea acts like being queen for an emperor that didn't even last a single generation is big shit when her husband was only there by the consent of the Senate. Meanwhile Garios thinks he can pull an Arenicos by collecting the shitiest lords(literally, all of his supporters are some flavor of evil or bastard) and claiming he does it for the soldiers, which he continues to meatwave at other imperials instead of protecting the fucking border. And for all the talk of the Nimps being corrupt greedy oligarchs their lords have all the best traits and treat the player well, handing out fiefs earlier and starting less retarded wars.
Calrados would be spinning in his grave if he knew Charassea is in the hands of Vl*ndians....

I've come to the conclusion feasts are better off the game. I don't want to see NPCs standing around in silence doing nothing any more, when i find lords in the same place like after capturing a castle it's already immersion breaking that they can barely find a good place to sit, but if the game made a whole production out of it it and encouraged you to go, it would just suck dick. They need to have some default Oblivion style yapping and greets for NPCs, then they need to have cutscenes like they have for births, marriages and deaths as intros to tournaments, voting sessions and random gatherings, like lords dancing and feasting at a hall, and maybe some of the annoying random event menus. Just anything to pack the immersion no matter what.
>>
>>
>>2339753
Seems pretty cool, but I kind of hope the interfaction stuff dont war each other as often as the outer faction ones. Warlord already has a claimant civil war function too so this seems like a more annoying version maybe. Havent tried it though, still looks interesting and worth an install and playthrough

I wanted to start modding Bannerlord, and wanted to start by turning all the looters into undead skeletons, via method of giving them fake armor that changes their appearance.
While the mod 'loads' into the game, it would appear that none of my .xml changes are in. Looters are still called looters, they still look the same, and my new items aren't in the game. What gives? My SubModule.xml does explicitly namedrop my new .xml files.

Based. Javelin cavalry are a ton of fun, especially if you can flank a shieldwall. Sturgia also has great aesthetics, with plemty of armor parts to build a lot of cool armor fits.
>>2339753
I installed it. It is quite nice having so many extra colors on the map. It definitely slows the game down, with steamrolling being highly hampered. The smaller factions take way longer to assemble proper armies to conquer. If they lose a few fiefs they can become completely passive and useless. Being a Warband butterfag, I wanted to help Svadia, but according to the mod author's lore, they are just the worst kingdom ever. Still, I managed to save them. I also quite enjoyed merc-ing for the Vanni, one city + a bunch of castles is around it and a main river is a very comfy kingdom setup.

Lucon's timid as fuck in war and the Nimps always get spitroasted by Sturgia and Khuzaits but if they survive a few years they usually end up better positioned than Wimps because they have much more productive cities
in my playthrough they lost Amprela and almost all the eastern towns to Sturgia then somehow they pulled a hail mary and snatched a couple Khuzait towns while the Sturgians and Khuzaits were busy with eachother, and the Sturgians got busy with the vlandians and Battanians, which still exist somehow. Meanwhile, Garios got captured and executed by Aserai and the Rhagaea is limping along with only three towns left.

Kind of depends. They can be useful, but you can also play until the midgame without getting a single ship. If you want to start early, you can get a longship by doing or skipping the dlc campaign. Then, hunting sea raiders/corsairs and taking their ships to be sold is a great source of boatswain xp and cash.

Feeling like an idea guy again.
It's kinda stupid that you can just trade with any town in any teritory even when you are a lord with a big ass party in tow and your factions aren't at least allies. And the only other option is just raiding and looting. There should be more interactions with villages, first being allowed to enter with a bigger party instead of camping outside should require relationship, fees or speech checks, especially if your party has foreign culture or bandit troops. Same with being allowed to trade there, maybe getting the lords or governor permission at their castle/town. Or you could rely on a merchant caravan and camp followers traveling to and from settlements to bring you food and supplies at a mark up.
Then for hostilities maybe you could comandeer a village by force, requisit their goods or force them to sell you more stuff or for cheaper for the war effort. Maybe you could occupy them by leaving a garrison after defeating the local militia, which would be subject to random revolts and guerrilla attacks but give you its income without destroying it by looting. Or you could actually raze it like a genocidal horde and leave it uninhabitable for way longer. Just need more options for factions to behave differently depending on the individual lord or their cultural differences.

the combination of random crashes when browsing the unit trees and the fact that gunpowder armies are the most fun to play on the field but completely useless for both siege attack and defense makes me not want to play
the only realistic way of conquering shit is either stacking melee infantry or making your own kingdom and getting cannons as your siege weapons to wear down the cities without a battle

Yeah the naval combat is great and the people bitch are complaining that they don't have an age of sail ship of the line destroying target hundred of meters away with gunfire.
The naval boarding is fun, ranged skirmish play is a solid option and is in many ways meta, though a boatload of nord or sturg shock troops will steamroll more archery crews if they make contact.
The only thing I wish is that some medium ships could mount ballista, and large ships could mount more than one weapon with an option for stuff like catapults.
I'd love to see a Dromon with like three weapon mounts, fore and on either wing. Something like a Round ship having weapons fore, sides and aft.
Have these be upgrades in the battlement and shield slots that reduce your deck crew potential in favor of a siege weapon.
Maybe give the Drakkar are special ballista that fires chain grapples from long range that allow the Drakkar to reel in kiting ships from longer range.
Also I'd like to See several medium ships, in particular Liburna, War Cog and Sambuk get a Ballista mount to spice up mid game and also make them more valuable in large battles than they currently are. Given that battles are capped on ships hulls it feels like there is no reason not to bring as many large hull as possible simply to pack as many men and ballista into your force as possible, with medium ships being brought ONLY if you are out of large hulls and still have deck crew surplus.

PoP is good but it suffers from trying to simultaniously be just like Tolkien and not like Tolkien at all. While GoT is doing the same, it also has enough original ideas and niche interests (I fucking LOVE sigils too, George) where PoP feels like off-brand tolkien--the same bit slightly different and generally not quite as good. I still liked it, though.

Personally I yearn for the corvus
>>
>>2348139
>corvus
used decisively in one single war in antiquity and then never mentioned again.
It was a cope to allow a navally incompetent army fight a masterful navy in a way that simulated a land battle. But was abandoned the very second the romans figured out How 2 Boat properly.
Its effects on ship handling were likely massive given the small ships of the day and I bet if you Failed to connect the weight of the fall bridge would capsized and sink the attacking ship.
Theres a reason the romans did not persist in its use despite it winning a few battle for them decisively, it was a deeply flawed weapon used out of abject desperation by an army that was forced to fight at sea and being thrashed by actual mariners.
There is no army in bannerlord that worthless on the seas.
>>
>>
>>2348146
Ok, but only if it makes any ships its mounted on sink with all hands when a wave happens.I dont actually object to them being added, thought I shudder to think of the physics demands. I'm just really sick of "Much corvus" coming up literally anytime ancient naval combat is discussed. It was literally a footnote of a devices used for less than a decade and was probably responsible for the loss in rough seas of literally thousands of men.

I'm waiting for OSA to update to 1.3 because I want to make my custom Troop tree project for War Sails and although I like the other Armor mods I think they are too "historically accurate" for a Calradian setting. Does that make sense?
I like how them both border between historical-inaccuracy without completely falling into a an unrealistic fantasy aesthetic. My one complaint is that I wish vanilla and OSA armors and shields were less bulky.

>although I like the other Armor mods I think they are too "historically accurate" for a Calradian setting. Does that make sense?
I don't really find the historical pieces a problem since there ARE a lot of historical artifacts just transplanted directly onto the base game, for example the Deir El Medina helmet, the Italo-Norman masked helmet, and the Coppergate helmet, but they are just too goddamn big and design-wise don't fit in with vanilla assets, unless you rape your GPU with a million shader effects to make the lightning super dark and gritty, they stick out a LOT because of the different mail textures and shinnier metal. I wish someone would actually take a crack at just upgrading the vanilla stuff instead of piling on new stuff. Also too samey, we don't NEED everyone to have their own specific variant of the same mail coatand lamellar. It's specially bad when it's western stuff because 10th/11th century western European kit is bland as fuck, We don't even the the truly unique stuff like the pointy conic nasalhelms.
I just can't get into OSA though. For every good armor variant they make, there's like five that are completely superfluous and don't look good and doesn't feel like they fit any purpose. I'd love a lite version where all the crap that has random fur glued on, or where they take a leather or scale coat and make it a play-pretend solid metal cuirass, or where they just bash together parts with the wrong colors, is taken out.

Whats the point of having weapon parts like butts for axes and maces that don't even fucking do anything? Was it really so hard to code in some kind of special bash move related to whether a weapon has a back part, or extra chambering chance for spear spikes or big sword hilts, or a butt spike being required to brace a polearm? Why doesn't anything i do affect anything in game except grinding.

no it doesn't, it doesn't show in the stats, and it's not noticeable in game, it at BEST increases the total value of the thing if you want to grind more smithing XP and flip your mass produced junk for a profit
Know what i also hate? 1H grips that are longer than 2H grips, and vice versa, and neither necessarily correlates with being able to switch grips, Why can't the things you actually see in game correlate to the stats and mechanics.

Deepen the roleplay element when it comes to lords and kingdoms. Keep the clan system and add a personal relationship as well. Make the relationship system as deep, if not moreso, than the kingdom management and battlefield RTS parts of the game.
>>
>>
>>2353784
Deepen the influence and renown system. The best way would be to turn influence within a faction into a zero-sum game, IE. every point of renown you get is taken away from another lord. If you get too much renown you will incur the jealousy or mistrust of lords who aren't your friends, so they will begin to undermine you. Influence decays overtime and can only be given by either the faction leader or from the ground up, doing tasks for notables and winning battles.
Lords would undermine you through a variety of means from manipulating markets and production to ruin your incomes and impoverish your fief, sending bandits and unwanted refugees your way, spreading rumors about you(based off things you've actually done), or just straight up hiring assassins to get you and your clan members. Every faction should have 2-3 bastard lords out to fuck with you to make it interesting.

I'm a huge sucker for making my own custom troops in mods. Watching units I made score kills is incredibly satisfying. But I feel like the trees I play with in various mods end up being kinda samey. I avoid getting horse archers not to get too overpowered. So usually end up with some one handed/shield/throwing weapon infantry main branch, some pike/two-hander infantry branch as an anti-cavlary force, and some relatively light cavalry with long lances and one handers for flanking or riding down fleeing enemies. Usually have archers as an elite troop, because I feel like otherwise I'd just make most of my army ranged, which would probably end up too strong, too.
What kind of custom troops do you usually make? Do you follow any themes, copy real armies or anything like that?

I thought the game would be fixed or at least mod friendly by now. The fuck is the point of this stupid game if the base game is so unfinished that you need to install mods to make it interesting but the game clearly cant handle having more than one or two mods installed so it just crashes constantly.

I haven't played Perisno since 1.5, so I thought I'd play it now, but I can't decide on the race, faction and build I wanna go with. The other time I had played I think I just went with a human, INT focused, with a lance, shield and a one hander, siding with Tolrania before making my own kingdom later.
I should really go with something else now for diversity's sake, but I kinda just like this sort of playstyle.
Logically, playing a full STR melee infantry Giant or Dwarf, or maybe a horse archer Elf would probably be the most different, but running around with no horse is a pain in the ass, and using top tier archers is kinda too OP to be fun imo. Plus the human kingdoms have the coolest looking troops.
Anyone played recently? And recommendations for race/build/faction?

Realistic combat adjustments make infantry less clumsy and more lethal in general.
Unblockable thrusts makes spear and pike units actually work as they should and keep enemies at bay especially shieldless enemies and cavalry.
Spears rework makes all spears faster and more lethal and spear inf become a real menace.

There should be a mod that disallows small parties from engaging in battles with large armies. There's no way an army of 5000 would ever bother to chase a party of 3-4, and there's no way a party of 3-4 would engage an army of 5000. There should be some sort of mod that requires being within 75% of the other parties numeric value in order to be able to engage.
Thoughts?
>>
>>
>>2358296
There's one thing that's painfully absent from Bannerlord and that makes a lot of the conquering feel less important and that is the value of land, terrain and routes completely independently of the actual locations on the map.
The presence of roads and routes for trade and the movement of armies isn't accounted for in any way other than the random chance they may get attacked by bandits and enemies, which doesn't actually happen that much to matter. Land stops being productive if the villages get raided but there's nothing like the land as a whole being occupied, raided and foraged by parties passing by or something like migrating tribes and reducing the production and prosperity, or being affected by floods, droughts, blizards, plagues, etc. Having roads cross a fief should make it more valuable because caravans have to pass through, and if that piece of land is in enemy hands or has a bandit infestation the caravans would go the whole way around through a different route and shoot up prices. The AI doesn't really give a shit abou who owns what land even though the entire system is built on fief ownership.

You can flip the wars by clutching just ONE siege. The western empire was fucking up the northern empire and about to take a castle so i broke through and defended it and i ground through a combined 2400+ troops and captured a big chunk of their lords and they just collapsed and Garios was captured and executed by Aserai in like a year.
protip: let the siege towers get close and just manually toss fire catapult stones at it. You will kill everyone in and around it, and then the AI will just be stuck blobbing at the gate.

>Really? What sort of hats Roman peasants were wearing?
Romans, especially lower class farmers, fishermen and other people working the fields used straw hats all the time and were sometimes identified by them. Roman legionaries also carried and wore straw hats during march and while working under the sun in the hotter provinces. Straw hats in general are very, very old and the Greek Petasos was so characteristic of them you can see several gods wearing them in iconography.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petasos
Romans also had a variety of felt caps, mostly of the Pileos type(pointy with a floppy tip), and later on they'd use the flat felt cap that became standard issue in the late Roman army.

You're correct, what I should've said Anglo-saxons in modern depictions, which is almost certainly what that anon is referring too as Battania is blatantly anglo-saxon (even if a jav-infantry unit would've been more accurate for the noble line instead of a longbowmen) both their heavy, light, and naval infantry are laden with javelins, with the Oathswarn being a straight rip of the fully kitted Anglo-saxon soldier (sword, shield, spear, javelin, heavy helmet, lighter armor)

I'm playing Perisno for the first time since 1.5 dropped. Did they nerf the Zann to the ground? In my previous game when the invasion event happened, they took over like half the map in months and I had to drop everything and fight them as hard as I could to prevent them from taking over the whole world.
This time I did absolutely nothing. The invasion happened, they took a few coastal cities and then... just kind of lost them. They now hold one city and like 2 or 3 castles, and I haven't even fought them once. Even Maccavia, who had gotten reduced to 2 castles or so managed to get a good portion of their original lands back, even though I thought they were goners for sure.
It's a shame. I liked the apocalyptic scenario of the world getting flooded by the invaders, and this time it ended up being a pretty minor event.

Haven't played 1259 yet so also curious.
But I have tried EoE 1100, and thought it was pretty weak. Poorly done troop trees, seemingly non-functional crusade mechanics, fairly low variety of equipment in general and basically no unique features. I thought it just doesn't offer much besides the map.

It fairly easy to understand the controls, just don't try to 1vs12 bandits once the tutorial is over and even if you try to cheese your way a bandit will throw a stone right at ya head and it will be your end

A 7/10 with my current settings. I went from 800 vs. 800 at 50 fps to 400 vs. 400 with some stuttering, but it’s bearable.
I’d prefer enemy formations to be adjusted to include more level 4 and 5 troops and fewer level 1–3 troops, (I already installed a mod that increases lord's xp and denars gains) rather than gladiator-style battles.
If I had more powerful rig, this would be one of my favorites.

You will tend to level skill naturally depending on what you choose to do in game, M&B is a game that does the learn-by-doing thing right so you really just have to decide which thing you actually like doing, like only the combat, or trading, smithing, sneak missions, etc and then do them. If you really can't decide what to do on your character build, pick one combat skill you are confident with and then dump on trade and stewardship. Those will save you money and give you tangible benefits from start to finish.

I'm making a mod and I need help
basically an auto recruiter/upgrader/dismisser for your own party
You have sliders, infantry, archers, horse archers horse melees, those are easy
I'm only now trying to differenciate infantry from each other
since there are no clear way that shows if something is a shock troop programmatically, i had to scan gear from troops
Basically if infantry has no shields and has a two hander : it's a shock troop, if has a shield and a one hander, it's not a shock troop
Is that good enough? I'm I missing troops this way
If
>>
>>
>>
>>2363241
It's very circumstancial, because some troops can switch between different troop types depending on the situation.
If a Berserker has its shield destroyed thern it becomes a shock troop.
Also, some gear is not as straight forward as other. Kheshig/Khan's Guard are horse archers, but their Glaives make them for excellent shock troops, both mounted and dismounted.
>>
>>2363255
it's just a good enough convenience thing, with perks even shit troops are decent
but I like having shielded units with around 30% archers behind, doing it manually is absolute aids (menuing is absolute aids in this game in general), having a mod doing all of this for me even, if it's an approximation and I don't get the absolute best units all time, it's good enough for me
Is anyone interested in this mod?
I've been surprised how many slam dunk qol mods have not been made with all this time, everything I'm seeing in nexus is bloat disfunctional trash, the absolute state of modding in bannerlord makes me sad...
>>
>>
>>2363301
instead of doing it manually, I see
Can you not save preset formations in the base game? I haven't messed with that much. I remember I've seen a video showing a trick to isolate shock troops in formations, that's the extent I know
I've only played with F6 in battles anyway, for me it's good enough

It's possible to do so by percentiles, but unlike Warband you can't simply assign a specific Unit type, say all of your [T6] Nord Huscarl), and put them in the same group as a bunch of Archers, just because you want your Huscarls to form in front of your Archers and cover for them.
I think this should be possible, and I think the AI should make use of this to have custom formations and behaviours that are more interesting than base game, so you can have formations excusively of shock troops distinct from spearwall infantry and such.

Vibe coding mods in bannerlord is very comfy
the only models that can manage are sonnet 4.6 and opus 4.6 for bigger mods like that one
fyi if you're ever interested the prompt goes like this
>explain the Point of the mod you want to make)
>"don't make things up if you need anything just tell me and I'll find it in ILspy or dnspy"
>if you have an exemple mod that you want to remix or redo just paste its source code in there and say something like "here's a mod for reference use it to get an idea on how to achieve x or y)
>with dnspy or ilspy you can decompile all bannerlord mods so this is really easy, you could technically also update old mods very easily like this

>just modify vanilla game items
I'd love it if someone remodeled the vanilla assets to improve chainmail textures and make armors less bulky.
I know some mods fix some items, such as "Better Native Armors (Heraldic Armors and cloth simulation)", but others do so while adding lots of other stuff, such as "Norman Armory" fixing some cloaks while adding lots of Vlandia-like stuff.
I'd recommend checking the official Discord for the game. They have several channels exclusively for modding Bannerlord content there, as well as one specifically for 3D assets and textures.

I like some of the anachronistic fantasy stuff like the 5th and 6th century Spangenhelms and ridge helmets in an 11th century time frame because in broad strokes they are still perfectly valid and effective gear for the era of combat and manufacturing techinques while still having really strong aesthetics, i just wish Taleworlds cared for consistency. Textures are really the worst part with several sizes and colors of mail that don't match even within the same culture(i could excuse Vlandian mail being blackened vs Imperial stuff), or that are unreasonably filthy or mismatched in polish, but i have a long, long list of pet peeves and nitpicks. The naming conventions are all fucked and so are the stats, a lot of stuff is poorly fit and even poorly put on, some duplicate items leftover from early dev days, and a general lack of ornamentation and finish on things that would be way too expensive to make to just leave bare. There is a lack of mid-high range armor variants too, tier 4-5 stuff.

It's worth it even for just the rebalanced map. Vlandia and Khuzait both having another neightbor ends up with them steamrolling a lot less in my experience, and a lot of the terrain was rearranged for the better, desu. I used to consider bows the ultimate weapon, but on my recent playthrough I played a nord with a two hander and 3 stacks of throwing weapons. And they fucking rock. With all the perks you still end up at almost 30 ammo, and if you've got some skill, you ALWAYS one shot every enemy you hit, no matter how heavy their armor is. Then you've got the late perk that lets you pierce through shields and it gets insane. Even stronger on boats, since you can just refil your ammo.
Bows still win in terms of range, but I kind of prefer throwing weapons overall now.
Crossbows suck dick because there's like 3 in the entire game.

Basically you don't go around recruiting random volunteers in villages at first, because the villages belong to a king, and so do the people living in them. You can only recruit entire mercenary groups in towns.
Only once you own a village on a town of your own can you recruit the people from them. And here's the cool thing - recruiting a lance is basically recruiting a noble with whatever retinue he has. So you may recruit a lance from a village and it gives you a noble unit and a couple different common units. The quality of all those units depends on the wealth of the fief, so there's extra incentive to take care of your lands. And the best part is that after a war is done, you can simply disband all the lances, and the people you had recruited go back to their lands, so that you don't have to pay wages anymore. When you recruit them again for the next war they keep all their upgrades, so you don't lose all those top tier units you leveled up.
It just feels much more immersive and makes more sense imo.

Speaking of which there are still two other factions that are listed in the encyclopedia, I expect that the Islands west of the Aserai and the area southwest of them that leads out to another costline will be added to the playable gameworld eventually.
Also, Nerf Vlandia please. They start with 8 fucking cities and they immediately take Hvalvik with no resistance every fucking game.

Easily the best Bannerlord mod out there, but I really do wish it was harder. Between the magic and some of the more ridiculous abilities and units it eventually gets way too easy to just curbstomp every army. I've found in newer mods like Vasnar and 457 it's just too easy to make money and steamroll through the content, making success not feel earned as a consequence. 457 has it especially bad since they let you just hire all the best troops from a town outright so there's not even too much of a time investment. They struggle to recruit their units back, so you are supposed to let them slog down in siegies, and then fight back when their numbers start to thin out. They are basically the med 2 Mongols/Timurids, in the sense that they rape most of the map, then get bogged down in Byzantium and you bring the fight back to them.

GAAAAYYYY
you had a really fun run going. i think i only tried joining a faction early once and got my shit pushed in but i made it eventually. it was mighty fun.
imo, the only way to play bannerlord is to form a clan army 24/7 and fight other armies on your own or calling a some of lords to help when you're facing a big army.
micromanaging your clan parties troops is hell in vanilla since they will donate troops to friendly garrisons whenever you enter a walled fier so you can only recruit and buy food from villages and never go into towns or just accept rolling around with weaker troops.
and when going on the offensive, i always delete Khuzaits (mongols) first. they become really annoying in the late game if left alone.
Rhaggy's runs are the most fun imo.

I can't get over the fact that we can do stupid assassins creed missions but not set up an ambush for enemy armies on the fucking game map. On a game about medieval combat and warfare.
If you think about it, really think about it, factions like Battania would only even still exist by exclusively relying on guerrilla warfare and doing shit like ambushing enemy armies with archer spam. That's literally all they fucking do at the battle of Pendraic and how they cut loose from the empire, luring enemies into archer killzones, instead of forming up as armies and actually having to have shitty little units to fill out a troop tree to meet enemies face on. Same fucking thing with Khuzaits, they shouldn't NEED half their troop tree if they could jump from out of nowhere, harass an army before it's ready for battle, inflict a lot of casualties and actually fuck off, instead of battles being locked in as soon as enemies touch on the map.

And yet you can't auto-upgrade the equipment of your companions, you can't sell all prisoners with a single click, you can't take all soldiers or prisoners with one click either, you can't continue fighting as a companion or a soldier once you get knocked out, there is no game concepts page in the reports tab, you don't have even the minor convenient improvements like showing the potential profit of a workshop before clicking on it, or showing the effects a book will give you once you read it and so on.
Unfortunately the mod's wiki is near empty, too. I have just supposedly learned Necro-Alchemy from a guy, and it was supposed to let me create units from the camp menu, and yet I simply do not have the option. Is this a bug? Is it that vampires can't use that skill? I do not know, and there is no way for me to know since the concept is not explained anywhere.
Anyway, the mod does look fairly nice, has a lot of cool units, has it's own aesthetic, and a basic but decent magic system, so I'm enjoying it despite those shortcomings.

>necroalchemy
I think the game mentions it once somewhere but you have to have tools in your inventory. You need high surgery and engineering to use the good stuff though. I also found 2 tomes in dungeons that allowed me to create stronger skaabs, but buying them from the stitcher's guild is still more convenient. The alchemist rifle is really good though, it doesn't have the damage of top tier rifles but it has perfect accuracy, give it to your companions and they'll shoot stuff well.
I also tried out necromancy the other day and I think it's better, just have to watch out for the church of three.

>you have to have tools in your inventory
Oh you mean literal tools? I had corpses and essences, and I had thought that was what you needed.
Btw I've also found pic rel in a dungeon, and yet I don't see an option to raise those units either. Do I need something special for this as well?
>>
>>2372115
>you mean literal tools
Yes, you need them at all time, otherwise the camp option for necro-alchemy will disappear. You'll also need iron for the more advanced stuff.
>picrel
I'm not 100% sure but I think you need a blank Necromantic Grimoire with a "Allows to perform necromancy rituals" tooltip, and the option should appear in your camp bar.

I see, I'll be on a lookout for the grimoire then. Thanks for the tips anon.
I still need to figure out how to use pic rel, too. Seems to function as a normal shield in battle, so maybe there's some special requirement for the special effect.

"Aserai": "In Aserai culture, intense family pride, clan honor and strict religious commandments enforce absolute modesty. Women are raised behind veils and silks, taught from childhood that any open desire is a disgrace to their entire bloodline. Beneath this rigid control simmers years of agonizing, unspoken frustration — secret midnight fantasies, trembling thighs pressed together in the dark, and a deep, burning hunger that grows stronger with every passing year. When a powerful outsider finally shatters those walls, their suppressed passion erupts in desperate, almost violent greed, their elegant bodies surrendering with shameless, starving need.",

Do not give him to your sister. Do not make a spectacle of his suffering. That is a poison that will seep into the sand for generations. *My gaze flicks to her smiling, violet eyes, then back to his.* If he must die, let it be a clean death. A warrior's death. Ok i figured it out. Once you have the Necromantic Grimoire from a lich in an old crypt AND at least 20 INT, you can sacrifice the shield to bring back the old king. It gives you this guy as a companion. Good shit. Can't change his equipment though.

Tried playing the Bannerlord WH Fantasy mod but I kept having errors, game wouldn't find the file or had unlocker issues, or it would shit itself upon launching, what a mess.

Well that's the mistake then, isn't it? They're only updating to the War Sails 1.3 version with the upcoming dwarf and ork update. The current version of the mod - "seasons of doom" is for the 1.2.11

You mean in Perisno? I sided with them on my first playthrough. Fantastic units all around, I especially liked the Master Hackers.
On my most recent game I went with the Cretas Monarchy. Really like their look as well, and they've got some solid units, though unfortunately they start in a rough position with very few fiefs so you have to help them quick lest they get destroyed completely by the other factions.
>>
>>
>>
>>2373074
theyre honestly pretty goated
people shit on them because faction X has better Y, but tolranian archers are stupidly fast to train and perfectly capable of taking over the map if you spam them
kingsman is also a fantastic infantry unit
>>
>>
>>2373156
Elves are kind of in a league of their own honestly. The Cretas Monarchy I played recently actually has deceptively great archers as well. Their archery skill is actually even lower than the Tolranians', but they've got 9 power draw and if I recall correctly also the best bows out of all archer units, so they pack a massive punch, despite the relatively shorter upgrade branch.
>>
>>2373161
Cretas Monarchy are a weird bunch imo, they come from those Illica Falki people, they have a proxy lord working undercover for the nearby giants which is cool for roleplay but it doesn't really affect the gameplay, unless you go out of your way to ally with Falki and antagonize the Reich. Not owning a single city is also crazy to me. At least you can marry that Liana lass, if you max out her approval she gives you her units for free weekly and she has the best unique bow in the game.
>Their archery skill is actually even lower than the Tolranians', but they've got 9 power draw
Proficiency matters too AFAIK, I don't know the exact formula but it affects all combats stats, so higher archery skill would mean better damage/reload/accuracy/draw speed and so on.
>best bow
Yeah, it's the same bow as the T7 Perisno archers, it's just that they gave them terrible arrows for balance I guess.
>>
>>2373156
>Don't they get memed on by literally any other unit that has a higher level cap though?
bro, armies in perisno are varied like in any other module.
yes, crimson rangers shit on tolranian archers, but they make up only a small portion of elintoran army stacks.
you absolutely can beat the elves in a ranged fight if you make sure to *only* have the top tier tolranian archer and pick a good hill to sit on.
tolranian archers gain ground in their spammability, they will do like 75% the job of the best archers in the game while being way easier to get your hands on in large numbers.
>>
The usual faction trees are cool and all, but do you guys not use the custom mercenaries instead? They might be every so slightly weaker on average, but there's a special feeling of satisfaction from winning using my own unique troops.

-minding my own business, hunting pirates near Ironbay (Training)
-suddenly joined the war on the side of the North against the Iron Throne
-ran into Lord Quenten Banefort and his men who tried to threaten me and take my prisoners
-110 vs 120
-took Lord Quenten prisoner, called him a retard twice and made him kneel
-offered him 30.000denars and he is free or he will end up as soil on the Raventree (he gave me the 30k)
-told him my Sister wants another 10.000denars and he can go(he gave it to me and i let him go^^)
-then his son Thomas showed up 90vs80 with 24 banner knights, acting tough
-told him about his fathers total defeat "20.000 denars and I let you go"
-he folded

It's kind of funny how blatant all the fromsoft stuff is in this world of vasnar mod. A lot of armours, weapons and even some units are taken straight from Bloodborne, Dark Souls or Elden Ring. Well, I like those designs so I'm not complaining.
Speaking of the mod, are there any other mods with Necromancy mechanics? I remember Phantasy also had some basic mechanic like that, anything else?

- told Melinda Blackwood that her husband had joined forces with Jonos Bracken, their ancient enemy
- we rode out, looking for him
- found Jonos Bracken marching without Tytos
- During the conversation, I mentioned that *My Sister with her 70 Archer are hiding in the forest* so he could only see 20 mounted soldiers.
- asked him calmly where her husband was
- Jonos immediately insulted Melinda, calling her disloyal
- told him to draw steel if he dared
- he attacked me on map despite being the same faction:D
- now dragging a chained him back to Raventree Hall (where Tytos Blackwood awaits us)

Coming back to Bannerlord after a long absence, lost all my old mods. I'm doing a Realm of Thrones playthrough and I now have the ai diplomacy mod, which imo makes a shitload of other mods obsolete. However, I have captured Cersei Lannister, and I'm realizing I no longer have the option to force her to marry me or become my concubine. What mod is responsible for that exactly?

It's been in production for a long time, it updates rather slowly. We have
>Empire
>Vampires
>Bretonnia
>Wood Elves
>Laurelorn Elves (hybrid between wood and high elves)
>Dwarfs
>Orcs
>Chaos, Beastmen, and Dark Elves are limited roster bandit only factions.
It's very polished and well made, but also very resource taxing. The textures are the real bitch of it, they need to be loaded on the fly and depending on how good your rig is, that can make loading into and out of battles hellish. The rosters are also somewhat truncated. Only some of the normal monsters like trolls are out.
On the plus side, it has magic, artillery, random events on the road and most importantly unique abilities that make the different races feel better. Being a Von Carstein Vampire and turning into a regenerating cloud of bats is great.

I love its aesthetic so damn much. Favorite Warband mod by far. Could use some more QoL stuff, and the mod author is clearly ESL, but otherwise it's basically perfect. I honestly play it more like an RPG than anything else with all the quests and dungeons.
