Wish my giant campaign where I had to deal with allies backstabbing every 20 turns, stacks of paladins and mages defending choke points, riots riots everywhere didn't crash when I nearly completed altar victory check. I'll have to check out different fork someday.

Fall Further seems to work better for me. I keep getting misaligned, incorrectly sized, and missing text bugs when trying Ashes. It also feels less polished, somehow, with a lot of incomplete civilopedia entries and some weird building choices- why do the Dwarves get slave markets? What happened to Patria's engineer corps? What's the point of having "emergent leaders"? What's this "Frozen faction" you can toggle on the custom map page?

i don't know if i have the wrong version of ashes, but civs keep getting wiped out by turn 5-6 in every one in two games for me, there are a LOT of nasty barb mechanics that don't seem completely WAI (the one with the camp that can spawn a few tiles away from your first city seems massively overtuned to me)

I just can't deal with bloated ass turn based strategy like this. It's why Polytopia is the best of the genre mainly because it's actually about strategy and not meaningless tiny mechanics piled on top of one another.

I played it way back in 2008 and really loved the hell out of it. But like another anon said, its bloated and janky. I played the death cultists and just destroying the world and spreading blight. Always afraid to go back and try it since it probably won't hold up well to the passage of time. The creator tried to make a stand alone game a decade ago, but it didn't have the same feel. It was Fallen Enchantress
