Read the features page, it has features you wouldn't even think were possible, very complex AI behaivor, immersive sounds on map, trade resource raiding, multiple bodyguards etc.

Yes, they also function more like real factions too.

I played as Reunited Kingdom in V2 and it sucked
>Mordor constantly shits out armies
>all I got from uniting with Gondor was debt (because the AI can't handle cheat armies) and more enemies to worry about
>the RK script isn't actually able to change names everywhere so my armies are still called "Arnorian"
>Bree is still independent
then there is the usual issues with DaC like way to many settlements (Angmar has as much as Gondor) and factions, like why do Dol Amroth and Bree exist again?

It's not, a modder has to actually implement it as a mod. SSHIP update with this will probably release soon. Although I don't particularly like medieval setting either, I prefer fantasy, medieval is based on real world and breaks real word canon, therefore my immersion. It's just that I'm not a fan of Lotr setting.

I don't understand.
Do you mean the devs of AGO are some of the devs that left the original DaC team or that the devs of AGO are the same devs the original DaC has now?

Errrrm aktchually base Third Age has the most downloads of any Medieval 2 mod with 7.4 million total downloads.
Divide and Conquer only has 1.5 million.
This means that Third Age Total War is the most popular mod, not Divide and Conquer.

wtf, no it's not, retard. The movies went against the "lore" by having so much plate armor. They're not canon, they're fanfic. Of course most mods (and future "official" LOTR products) will conform to the Peter Jackson visuals, but that anon's point, they want the canon aesthetic.

>>2319803
Just had a battle at the start of a Dol Amroth campaign where my garrison was called into battle by an unit of Gondorian pikes against a mostly ranged enemy.
An uphill battle but completely winnable given I had an unit of mounted squire... except that for some fucking reason my army was under both MY control and the AI?
So I had a couple of minutes where I wrestled against the AI to make my units run from the edge of the map in time to catch the enemy while they were battering the pikes, except that the toaster in charge wanted to make them walk leisurely to the fight...?
Is this the AI trying to be sporting? A freak accident?
I couldn't win against the AI countermanding my orders within a fraction of a second so I gave up the game.
But aside from this hiccup it's pretty good and hasn't crashed on me once. Yet.

Because AGO was first released when DaC V4 was a thing, and has always been based on V4. It won't update to V5 since now it is a standalone project. It does include some of the same content though since AGO and DaC share a bunch of the same devs.
But if you ask the AGO devs they will say AGO is better because its harder and DaC is for babies.

I did thought it might be too hard when I started as the goblins and Balin's expedition had a doomstack of decent units while my army was like 70% snaga slaves.
...Only that the bridge of Khazad-Dum wasn't passable so the enemy units had to circle around from the other side, clip through the mountain... and die of exhaustion and javelins as they beelined for the town center.
