>Zoom down and control individual units in FPP
>Zoom out to sky level and you can issue orders, build bases, etc
>Zoom out to orbit and and you can view and rotate around the the entire planet issuing orders right down to the same unit you controlled in FPP
HeavyD may be janked but the smooth zoom from ground to orbit was unprecedented and it had some neat mechanics.
>Clouds in the atmosphere acted as a fog of war for units (but not structures) meaning you could identify bases from orbit but not where their troops were
>AA was overpowered so you couldn't scout everything by air and had to do ground pushes
>Full unit customization for your none-grunts units
>No tech tree, the game had a Metal fatique-esque where the only way to unlock higher-lvl/more parts was to salvage them
My biggest critiscism was the game only had one (admittedly very large and hand crafted) planet. And the complete lack of naval, which was somewhat understandable because it would have allowed you to skip large parts of the planet.

Ground Control 1 and 2 have my favourite camera controls in all of RTS
>arrow keys or mouse3 to pan the camera across the ground
>putting the cursor on the edges of the screen rotates the camera up/down/left/right
>mousewheel to raise and lower the camera's height, can go really high or all the way down to infantry eye level
It takes a little bit of getting used to because nothing else controls like it does, but once you do it's intuitive as fuck and you never feel like your view of the game world is restricted.
