Can someone explain the "playing tall" phenomenon in the paradox community? You don't see total war players booting medieval 2 to sit on the British Isles as England for 300 years then posting their "campaign" (autoclicker on the end turn button) here, on youtube or reddit. But paradrones seem in love with the idea of not engaging with the game they're supposed to be playing and pretending that it's somehow a more sophisticated way to go about life.

And no, this isn't a reddit or YouTube thing, I've seen people here post shit like this for years. Just look up "playing tall" in an archive if you don't believe me.

But the people that sit at the corner of the map at speed 5 "playing tall" in paradox games don't?

If you're not playing multiplayer, you make your own fun by roleplaying, handicapping yourself or testing limits of whatever mechanic piques your interest after you've figured out how the game works.

It's still just numbers masturbation.
You make your province number go up, or your development number go up, being the primary examples.
Some people really like it when their discipline number goes up.
Even before Eu4 was released, so 14 years ago, people were bored of people posting their ebin germanium blobs.
We get it, you can expand a little bit more than historically, everyone else has already did a world conquest a decade ago.

Paradox "games" are messes of disfunctional systems that don't cause anything interesting to happen, so they sell DLC that scripts specific events to happen because without random wacky events literally nothing happens. The only "gameplay" is to stack +1.5% bonuses until number very big, a satisfying experience for troons and autists

He stays in the corner of the map because otherwise would nullify the challenge. If you start in Siberia the optimal route is to expand and relocate your capital to anywhere besides Siberia.

playing tall in EU is fine
it's basically role-playing. you didnt have every country on earth try to conquer as much as humanly possibe. smaller countries influenced the world through technology, trade, culture.

playing tall in CK is a meme because a) the systems around it are mind-numbingly boring and b) medieval lords kind of did try to grab whatever land and titles they could possibly get, these dynasties invented border gore and disjointed empires

> I was GAY in CK3 and it RAPED me

Not necessarily true. The motivations of conquest are complicated. No conquest was risk-free, and few conquests were profitable.

I'm not talking about conquest. The Habsburgs didnt end up in Spain and Netherlands by force.

CK3 was designed as a meme game first to maximise sales.
>>

I guess you didn't, my bad.
But I don't get your point.
>>
>>2334066
my point is both from a gameplay and from a roleplay perspective, playing tall is stupid in ck3

I hate the permafrost modifier it ruined that part of the world for me there isn't even any permafrost there. Worse than that is that Tribes of the North blocks adopting feudalism for no reason. I want my Permic kingdom and fight off Turkic nomads.

Playing tall is not a speed 5 activity in eu4 unless you're bad. You should be constantly going to war for money/show strength mana to fund your developing
>>
>>2335077
also important to burn your neighbours down so they don't outgrow you, never be chill always meddle
>>
>>2333947
tall in eu4 is braindead awful
you literally just sit there and wait for mana
in eu5 it is better which is why eu5 is a huge improvement
