I apologize to the albino negoori, for I have attempted to tame her yet I didn't bring a beautiful starlight cage. Due to the fact I thought she didn't deserve royal treatment, and every time she killed giselle was justified due to my lack of respect for her.

This guy's team's items are weird. Heixing is in full level 50+ legendaries, Anne is running Gaia's ring, a Serpent Coat and a Necromancer Bangle implying he's beaten at least 59S, Alisa is in full Berserker set and Giselle is so minmaxed she wouldn't be out of place on an Asia team.
And then he's got Irene in level 10-15 items. Sion's not much better - all his items are level 15 except a Frostmourne Bangle, and he's using a green-rarity ring with 8% accuracy on it. I guess those units were the ones that are functioning well enough he didn't feel the need to spend any resources on them.

My kin!
This guy's entire team is minmaxed out the wazoo.
Leton is a mixed MA build with Improvisation, Unpredictable and a Weight equipped. Also has Ice Castle slotted in by itself for 50% reduced ESP damage taken if it's lower than his resistance, which is 1089. Also has 2388 attack and 40% melee damage.
Albus is a Social Life GS with 139 speed, a Black Mask, 95% block and 71% dodge. His hit rate is kind of low, though - 96% base.
Misty is a water ninja with a Draki's Perfect Scale and Hellfire Seal equipped.
Heixing is the standard Argonaut + Awaken + Escape Death Sweeper meme
Irene's a stat monster MA with crazy high everything and Metallic Muscle Armour + Draki's Perfect Scale
Kylie's a spirit hacker
and Giselle is a pretty standard Vocation sniper with Positioning, Precise Punishing Shot and no Fire Support.

Yashas would rule if the game had missions where you have to defend a point, protect an objective or delay the enemy. The game is a killing fest where only damage matters and yashas only have crowd control.

Yashas just rely too much on webs to be as generally useful as negooris, drakis, crabmits, and mungos. They can be quite strong when you have webs set up, but unfortunately your own webs can screw over your team unless you have field effect immunity on everyone.
Even if timas get outclassed, they still have some redeeming qualities. Their howl ability means they don't have to worry about rage build up, the fire and ice auras let them take advantage of the fire/ice masteries that require an elemental debuff on a target to work in a single turn, and their inherent class mastery is good for berserker builds. They're also just a really straightforward beast to build and use.
Dororis are the only beast type that I would say just flat out suck, though admittedly I haven't actually used them that much so that could be incorrect. I think the only dorori worth using would be the adventure/explorer one, because of it's hide ability that synergizes well with dorori's innate crit damage and wind SP. Some dororis have decent supportive abilities but those seem outclassed by negooris.
>>2385743
>>2385746
I might be totally wrong about this but I remember a few weeks ago I used starlight cage on a beast in taming and it cancelled the taming. Maybe Dandylion changed it not too long ago so starlight cage can't be used to cheese beast taming anymore.
>>

>>2385751
>Maybe Dandylion changed it not too long ago so starlight cage can't be used to cheese beast taming anymore.
Damn, that's a bit annoying. I almost never used it myself, but I know it was a popular strategy.
>>
>>
>>
>>2385751
Giselle really needed a mastery set that allowed her to summon two pets at once if both are Yasha. Then you could have one built to spread webs everywhere and the other built with all the masteries that take advantage of being on webs.
Or just give Ray a can borrowed from Peter Parker.
>>
>>
>>
>>2385996
It probably wouldn't be worth it except for a meme, but Giselle with her individual mastery that makes support skills use -1 AP and The Expert for -1AP to item skills could throw web grenades for free.
>>
>>2386140
That doesn't even sound like that much of a meme. Hunter giselle is pretty flexible with what she can set up for her board since she really only needs to be an assist attack bot to trigger animal attacks. Throwing a fat ass web on a bunch of enemies and then tagging them for a yasha followup sounds fun.

>Giselle really needed a mastery set that allowed her to summon two pets at once if both are Yasha
I have absolutely no source for this, but I recall Dandylion saying something like they wanted beasts to have half the power of a troubleshooter on your team and drones to have a quarter of the power, with drones being able to equal beasts by the fact that Kylie can summon two with the right gear (Engineer gets a second gear slot for that purpose). So being able to summon multiple beasts, even if they are just yashas for web synergy, kinda disrupts that whole balance.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2387401
Yea Dandylion kinda failed with keeping that balance. A good beast is about ~60-75% the power of one of your "average" team members and with hunter masteries and minmaxing that goes up to ~80-90%. I've had an ice tima summoned by Sniper Giselle solo like a third of the Red Sands on 59S, granted it was using a fairly bitch nigga build with Lunatic Beast + Final Resistance + Third Heart, anything can be strong with that. Drones feel pretty weak in comparison, part of that is probably ludonarrative harmony though since it's illegal to use the big robots in Valhalla.
>>
>>2387416
>Drones feel pretty weak in comparison
Drones are pretty fucking absurd when you min max them (which is a bitch with the module drop rate). I've had two drones rape 58V by instakilling everything with reaction shots like I had mini red sand rangers. Even just a single one will kill dozens of enemies and keep taking turns with all the off turn AT reduction they can get.

I'm trying to make a BSH Crabmit build but I don't know what else I should put on it. The sleep sets and tsunami are obvious and I put mighty strike on since crabmits don't really have any sets that are good for non-melee damage but it might be worth swapping that out for some water masteries to get more benefit from unending tide. I'm also considering MMM even though it has wobbly belly just for even more crit reduction, but I'll either have to take out divide and rule or switch training masteries for that. Now that I think about it, it would just be better to not run a sleep build on a water crabmit but I wanted to make use of the 8 range ability.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
Bloody Berserker + Second Wind is so silly. It can be a meme sometimes with Albus getting 1 shot by a lucky crit, but otherwise he can stand in the center of a horde of Red Sand guys and kill them all while healing just under FR thresholds.
>>
>>
>>2387477
>I'll either have to take out divide and rule or switch training masteries for that.
Looking at your board a bit more, you could fit Metallic Muscle Armor in. Long Lasting Life + Inherited Love gives you another slot and pushes your Defence property limit to 10/14, which fits Enhanced Suit and Muscle Armor, then pop Solidity in Basic and you're good.
>>
File: 1773518754288804.png (42.8 KB)
I don't think I've ever seen these genetics masteries as an option when taming or evolving, only when using the gene modifier. Are they only available through gene editing? They could be nice to use since they give double the slots of the training masteries but without the bonus stats, would be nice for making some very big boards.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2388030
>Are they only available through gene editing?
Yes, they're a benefit for going through the trouble of using the gene modifier.
I used them on one of my beasts, but the bonus effects of the regular training masteries are so good that I'm honestly not sure if it's worth the extra mastery slots.
>>
>>2388030
Yeah they're only from the machine. I find that they're pretty well balanced compared to regular Training masteries, because the bonus stats are often worth more than an extra mastery by themselves and it's really easy to run out of TP when your board gets big, so most of the time you'll only want to be using one of them on a beast at most unless you have some really specific build in mind.
>>
File: 1613603295896.jpg (25.8 KB)
I still think about a post on here a year or two ago where someone was giving tips on dealing with Yashas. One of them was completely wrong, which was to Reveal them to force them down (it doesn't work, duh) but the other was to throw incendiary grenades to clear their webs.
At the time everyone including me shot it down and said it wouldn't work, but it actually does. Every web tile in the AOE gets cleared, just like Wind Pressure grenades. I believe Giselle's flame trap works the same way, but Irene's Flame Explosion doesn't for whatever reason.
If that anon's still here, I apologize.
>>
>>
>>
I was looking through the game scripts and found the code for how the Paranoia difficulty modifier works.
It has a target amount of sets that it tries to force for each rank of monster: Elites get 1, Epics get 2 and Legends get 3. It has no effect on non-Elite enemies.
When the monster spawns it shuffles a list of valid mastery sets (based on race / class / SP) and attempts to add the masteries from each set to the unit, as long as there are TP and slots remaining. If any mastery that makes up the set doesn't fit, the set is skipped and it tries the next one, until eventually it either runs out of valid sets or hits the unit's target amount.
That's when it starts to give them random Challenge Mode masteries until their slots and TP are full.
>>
>>2388794
All the masteries unlocked from that mission for choosing dialogue options can be gotten from enemies in the DLCs. For those masteries you only need to play the mission three times, one with Albus solo, one with lotteries, and one with balanced options.
The only thing exclusive to that mission are the relationship modifiers, and I think you only have to replay for each of those once across all saves, then the relationship modifiers will be activated on every save including future ones. There's one for having Albus go solo against the rest of his company and then another one for having Irene, Anne, and Ray on the same team (lotteries option). So you only really have to play the mission twice to get everything from it.
>>
>>2388811
I wasn't farming out the interactions, I was just surprised by the fact dandylion wrote dialogue for almost every possible combination you can get. Also I already replayed a bunch of missions to get the human masteries I was mising. Although I'll get sophistry and brazenface in the dlc.
>>
>>2388814
>I was just surprised by the fact dandylion wrote dialogue for almost every possible combination you can get

What makes lightning yashas so much better than the other ones?
>>2386038
The ash monarch yasha has turning over a new leaf which is pretty useful for setting up webs
>>2388883
You could always just build a yasha that's not centered around using webs, kinda like Jeff's crimson cloud, but obviously that loses out on a lot of what makes yashas good, and they still depend on crits for their non-web masteries. Yashas all have incredibly high base armor though (and some abilities that scale with armor) which makes them good for taking advantage of earth masteries. They also have a lot of base dodge even when not benefiting from web masteries, even more than mungos do.

I get the Irene one, she seems like a cute red panda girl but can be pretty ruthless, hence the river otter (otters can be fucking brutal if you weren't aware). And Ray who looks like she would be an instragram thot at first but is a grenadier like Junkrat from Overwatch.

Is there any functional difference between the super photon blast and the super gravity pulse that the mutant and dark drakis respectively get access too? I know their other attacks get blind instead of fear on hit.
Also do the mutant drakis (both lightning and spirit variants) have different or better stats to the regular lightning and spirit drakis?
>>
>>2393956
The attacks are the same
Gold Drakis have better stats than regular Lightning Drakis. The difference between a fully evolved Lightning Prince and Gold Prince is +375 HP, +110 attack power, -20 ESP, +6 accuracy and +1 speed.
Mutant Drakis and Dark Drakis are identical numerically except for +1 speed and accuracy

i wish there was a status effect that turned suppression into antisuppression, triggered something like a less obnoxious Pre-Heating (no status immunity)
would be a neat thematic fit on Alchemist but goddamn would it be nice gameplay wise on MA Irene
>>
>>
>>2394910
Irene has always felt like a flawed character. Idk if its dandy balancing around her passive that can give hero when alone but she has no AT suppression available while also having no classes that can easily reduce her own AT. From the start of the game to DLC2 she feels forced to have berserker.
>>
>>
>>2394922
Plenty of her attacks have suppression on them. She's really sticky when she gets up to someone.
Berserker is not the only way to deal with her AT issues. Lots of people run Distorted Heart on her, and some people also run Solitary Fighter on her with Forestallment + Counterattack. I've used Quick Grasp of the Situation on her in a few builds too, plus there's all the bullshit Battlemages can do if you go that route.Leton's better than her, but Leton's better than everyone so that doesn't count for much
>>
>>2394957
Without any way of preventing AT delay she needs enemies to suicide into her for AT reduction. And if she ever gets hit by any kind of AoE field effect like an ice nade enemy AI will never approach her so she will stay stuck in the timeout cloud. Berserker atleast guarantees she can move out of those effects to maybe snag a melee enemy with a forestall/counter,
>>
>>
>>2394963
Because said weakness is totally absent on Leton who is basically Irene but better in every way. And its because he has a self buff that has AT suppression immunity. Irene needs berserker or she will be dead weight.
>>
>>
>>2394972
Eh maybe? Idk I usually just gape Mungo's asshole with anne and sion. Also semi-related but despite misty also being a melee unit with no self buff to be immune to AT delay she has a much better time vs suppression because she has way better off turn AT reduction. I never really noticed it but MA is all about delaying enemy melee units rather than reducing their own which is so shit in the lategame.

Forget it, it's done.
Sub-15 minutes solo 58V (that meaning all bosses) with all modifiers except Ancestral Records (because protective coloration just adds anywhere from five to ten minutes to the timer at complete random depending on who rolls what)
More AT than the previous best run! But still less than 500 AT, so I consider this a success.

>PH, Yuranxiang,???
Gregori (Red Sands, 60V) is the last one. Wind MK like Albus but his unique mastery drops are wind masteries and not magic knight ones.
Yuranxiang actually shows up in a story mission so he's not missable, IIRC he has a unique MK mastery drop too.
When I first started playing I played on normal difficulty (because obviously that's the intended difficulty, right?) but I was incredibly frustrated when I reached DLC1 and found out that some enemies with pretty cool drops only spawn on hard and above after looking at Pink Horn's information.
Curse of Sword itself is kinda overrated though, I used to think it was essential for MK builds but it doesn't do much until Albus gets a good amount of stacks, but by then you've cleared most of the level. The only time I think it really helped, which was also the time when I got the most stacks on it, was when I went into Starlight Junction very under-prepared and had to clear 1/3 of the map with just Albus and a few other units.

>>2398752
Random core masteries being hidden in enemy drop tables you can't see was one of my biggest gripes playing for the first time. I had to google where PH spawned because I was in the midgame and had several sets needing one last mastery. Same thing with Ryo being the only source for certain GS masteries like batto.

>It should be impossible in 58v because of that enhanced HEART
If you Curse him to sleep you might be able to do it. If it's the same AT formula as taming it's based on his current HP, so you could get him down into Final Resistance, have him wail on a tanky unit with Curse until he falls asleep, then go for it. Leton with that Frosty Wind set that passively adds AT to nearby enemies could help extend the time he's asleep too.

You only lose kill potential if your build is bad. Magic Knight outputs insane damage thanks to Elementalist access, especially earlygame where masteries like Magic Training boost your ESP into the stratosphere.
The split is more like
>GS
Tankier and breaks enemy equipment, more suited for bleed abuse
>MK
Squishier, more accurate and with way higher damage ceiling, relies on scummy methods to survive.
I'm certain Magic Knight is the stronger class of the two in a vacuum.

I think it's the inability to be tamed by others that should make it impossible for communion to work on him in 58v, but then again if he can be communed with in 57s, maybe it's possible there.
Communion is listed as using no AP in it's ability card, so you shouldn't have to worry about making sure Mungo King can't see to activate Risk Control once Flower Garden is in range, and only have to figure out a way of sending him to the deep sea of AT without breaking communion after that, probably using Leton as you said before.

Big difference in information.
Also by "Lowered the equipment enhancement levels", Dandy means their items are unenchanted. Gaia's attack power went from 1542 -> 1372, his armour went from 1547 -> 1407 and his resistance went from 1025 -> 950. I can't find any screenshots of pre-nerf Ortega or Mash but they would have suffered similar reductions. Ortega only has 857 attack and 615 ESP now.

Reducing early game burnout by removing grind would do wonders for the sequel. Maybe even give a way for players to reroll affixs or choose them manually in the late game would be nice too.
Personally I want the early game to get to the meat of gameplay faster than AC. There is a lot of filler missions early on and enemies are generally too weak and too plentiful. More enemies like destrons which necessitate builds less focused on mass slaughter and more on dealing with few problem enemies would be nice as well.
>>
>>2402310
Lightning Ball is a staple though. It was in my setups offline and even online it's in probably 80%+ of Sion ability bars. Long range, low cast delay, low cooldown. Everything he could ever want.
Wave Kick also doesn't really deserve to be there. Its damage is massive.

I'm peeved that they made the information change after I got all the masteries and modules, but clicking the button to get a bunch of coins is satisfying. Reducing unnecessary grinding is a good call by Dandylion.
The "new" outfits for Misty are nice but I was kinda hoping she would have a red shirt under her jacket with the Black Tiger one to match Kylie's style, but the black jacket with no tiger stripes is still cool.
The nerfs to the serpents seem pretty undeserved. They never really felt much like legendary criminal contractors who survived the assassin child experiments in 59S. The Red Sands were more of an issue in that mission. I get that Misty's solo mission can feel pretty unfair but it's really just a check to see if you have Wave Kick equipped, her dialogue in the mission even mentions it. I hope this change wasn't the result of someone complaining in the Steam forums and that Dandylion learns to tell retards to "git gud" in a polite korean manner. Dandylion does have access to a lot of game statistics from online play though so maybe they decided to nerf them after looking at that.
>>
>>2404301
I haven't seen any complaints about them on the forum. Most of the activity there for the last few weeks has been a frog reporting a zillion inconsequential bugs and inconsistencies that Dandylion is too much of a professional to ignore

Ortega got me a couple of times in both of his missions (ignoring the Misty solo case) since Rogue's with Hide are godtier, and Mash can be an annoying opponent too if you're unprepared. If you face him without multi-hit attacks or other means to instant-kill him he'll just heal himself back to full health mid-fight.
Gaia on the other hand probably never ever killed a unit in my playthroughs.

Depends on how overlevelled you are, but it's a balancing act because doing them ASAP gives you a lot of masteries and powerful items, but waiting a bit makes the run a lot smoother. Since you have Heixing already you'll absolutely destroy the first two violent cases, and the third one will be challenging but doable.
>>
>>2405558
There's no harm in trying them, you can always retreat if you're in a bad state and even if you wipe you only lose some items which you can get back from the vendors in the bar if it was something really good. The main reason to do them is to hunt specific Masteries, most often exclusive ones, but it's hard to know which ones to grind without poring over guides and looking up ones you're missing.

I'd recommend doing purple missions as soon as you unlock them because they pose the biggest challenge in this game. It's more fun if you struggle the first couple of times.
There're also a lot of legendary units that only appear in violent cases, and some of those ONLY appear on hard and above, so if you want the best masteries and item drops you really shouldn't play on normal.

Steam guides are your best bet but they're still outdated in some respects.

The top two are about 95% accurate. The mastery set effect guide isn't updated with Crimson Crow-era changes so it's missing a lot of lategame sets, and some other ones that got changed are wrong like half the Magic Knight sets that got reworked. It's still a very useful resource and I consult it often though.

to anyone whom it may concern: there aren't a lot of options to host a drawpile - public sessions get killed when users idle for several hours (which is very likely to happen here, since we've so few people) and magma (a different canvas service) has no such limits, but requires a burner email to access

Was I supposed to hunt down every enemy in Tangled Skein? No, it's one of the few missions where you're explicitly intended to not kill every enemy. Even if you do, it doesn't change the ending dialogue IIRC

Do characters ever get access to classes beyond their initial one and the two extras they unlock later?
Do ability slots ever expand? Or once you max the 3 classes they have available the only changes you will see will be through masteries?
>>
>>2408165
>Do characters ever get access to classes beyond their initial one and the two extras they unlock later?
No. Dandy originally wanted to add third tier classes for Crimson Crow and there are the stubs of them still in the game data, but they determined it would take about 2-3 years of just working on classes to make them a reality so they got scrapped.
>Do ability slots ever expand? Or once you max the 3 classes they have available the only changes you will see will be through masteries?
Active skill slots stay the same for each class throughout the game. Mastery boards can have their layouts changed to some degree through masteries, but all the board expansions from the level cap increasing in the DLCs were baked directly into the classes. Everyone's got about 3 more slots than they did when White Lion/Black Witch was endgame.
>>
>>2408165
>>2408177
I forgot to mention, there is an option you can enable after you beat the base game called Limit Break that gives everyone +10 training points and 5 more mastery slots, but nothing in the game is balanced for that and it prevents you from PVPing against other Human players until you turn it off. Still pretty fun for sandbox-style shenanigans and making otherwise impossible self-made challenges possible.

Are there any mods that would randomly distribute class and element/no element to all playable characters? Kinda randomizer, I guess? >third tier classes
I wondered what Misty's third tier classes would be since the leftover data had nothing about the ninja class, I'm guessing they changed her to second t2 from assassin to ninja after scrapping the t3 classes in CC development. One would probably be an upgraded rogue for one of the t3, then maybe a shinobi class which would be rogue + ninja, and I really want the last class to be kunoichi, ninja + witch.
>>2408392
>Are there any mods that would randomly distribute class and element/no element to all playable characters?
Not that I know of, but there is a mod that lets you change the elemental type (SP) of the playable characters and some that add additional classes to some characters, though I haven't tried those out myself
>Bonus point if it could include humanoid enemy class/element combinations
It might be possible to do something like this but it would require making a separate enemy type for each possible SP combination, then you would have to somehow edit the map files (Dandy didn't release their map editor) to put these new possible enemy combinations as spawns.
>but I assume they might not all have unique skills made for them by devs
most abilities used by enemies are just generic abilities. it's only your troubleshooters and unique enemies that have special abilities tailor-made for them.
So it would just be as simple as assigning those abilities to the new class/SP combinations
>Or is it not possible/too much of a pain in the ass to make for this game?
probably, see above
>>
>>2408421
I meant something like this:
You start the game, and your Albus randomly… gets skills and the class and the element of the Ice Spoonist boss from the bridge mission (forgot his name). Then you get Sion, and he has Anne's class with the air element, let's say. Then you get Irene, and she has Ryo's class and skills, or maybe Ryo's class and skills but with the water element, etc. And every time you start a new playthrough, all that gets shuffled and randomly re-distributed.
I probably just spelled it badly (ESL moment), but enemies can stay the same; random playable characters would be fun enough.

If anyone was curious, the catharsis effect from The Early Bird set only applies to enemies with 100% information, in case that wasn't clear from the mastery description.
Had to test it myself just to make sure before I got 100% information on everything because the recent change to information requirements put me pretty close to that.
Also for PvE player teams joint drills, it the enemy team counts as have 0 information, not sure if it's the same for PvP, but it probably is. This means it's a useless set against player teams and still pretty bad for regular play, even if you have 100% info on most enemies you'll still give up a slot for a mastery that has no combat effect and anyone with scholar masteries is probably already using Catharsis anyways because of Bookworm.
When I was testing this, I ran into someone using super frag grenades on their Ray, and their Anne had Pack Maneuver with a lot of dodge for some reason. Seemed like builds that would be used by someone from /here/

There aren't any Ninja-derived T3 classes, but there's still Phantom Thief (Rogue + Bard (Archer + Musician)) and Trickster (Rogue + Black Mage).

It's safe to say that only the first four characters' designs are/were finalized since they show up in CG in the dev diaries, and for the most part I have to say I like their designs other than Gravis's "modern" outfit which looks like an old guy trying too hard to be cool, though that's probably the intended vibe.

A lot of the Banished Children characters look pretty good though. I think it's just the change in setting that probably makes it hard to design outfits, going from an urban, almost cyberpunk setting to a tribal backwater that still exists in the same universe without making the clothing seem too anachronistic. Making every character have two completely different outfits is probably a dumb design decision though, like Lumi's casual outfit looks fine even if it doesn't match her original concept, why couldn't they just stick with that?

Misty can't take full advantage of it since she only really has like two real water ESP abilities and none of her physical abilities have ESP scaling to benefit from Call of Water + Unending Tide, but water ESP has some pretty useful shit. Water beasts are some of my favorite to use.

There're even two different kinds of Water SP Crabmits because of how versatile it is. Jade and Poison, I believe.

Hannah in Banished Children seems like she would be a fun character if she's Earth SP. Shields give armor, so she'll be able to get a lot of damage from Rock Fist that way.
The Guardian class the shield VHPDs have is Warrior + Fighter so she'll likely have those access to those masteries or whatever their BC equivalent is. I'm guessing her other class will be something like Swordsman/Marauder + Fighter, so one class for tankiness and blunt damage and another that's more offensive and centered around slashing damage. Or the other class could be a mixed physical/ESP class which would go well with Earth SP.
>>
>>2410479
It's up there, I don't know if I'd place it above Fire or Lightning but it's definitely top 3. Misty being so low-tier on release probably influenced its power, because it's at a pretty good level when built on her, but absolutely fucking cracked when built on beasts.
>>
>>
>>2410539
Misty is fucking weird in that shaman gives very little raw ESP but water masteries can give her something like +60% water damage. A water release build can 1 shot an entire squad of fighter mungos and clip extras behind cover with the auto hit set.
>>
>>2411082
It's kind of funny in a "not really" way that after being mediocre with ESP for the entire DLC, Dandy put broken as fuck water masteries in the final violent case
>"You think water ESP Ninja is mediocre?"
>"we'll add a regular mastery that gives +5% ESP scaling per water mastery!"
>"and a set that gives all water attacks automatic hits!"
>dandidev #1, I think we didn't go far enough
>"you're right! Let's give Tsunami +30% water damage as well because why not"
Anything other than fixing Shaman's masteries to not suck, or rebalancing Misty's Ninjutsu so you don't need entire mastery sets to make them almost as good as regular attacks with regards to range/cooldown

Okay, let's get this show on the road to see how spammy it'll end up being, and more importantly if the workflow gets in the way of my enjoyment of the game.
Here are my units. I'm playing on Hard with no modifiers enabled, though my first few maps were played on Safe for reasons.
This early in the game there's not very much you can do to scale your units' offences, so Albus is mostly defensive with the exception of accuracy. Tactical Envelopment gives +15% hit when more allies than enemies are in his vision, and Swordmaster is equipped for the critical damage.
I don't really like Forestallment on units this early until their attributes are brought into line. It's a free attack, but it sacrifices player-turn damage and accuracy. Same with Counterattack, which I'll probably be equipping extremely late.
I got a few nice white items from chests that he has equipped, but there's not much exciting in his items yet. About a third of his armour rating and half of his resistance comes from Patience.
Sion is just vanilla join stats and board. I don't have enough masteries yet for it to be worth changing anything on him, and I haven't really decided what I'm going to do with him this playthrough anyway.

I don't think I'll show very many pre-combat stats, but Sion can blast these guys from outside their line of sight thanks to earlygame enemies having poor vision. 65% to hit is sketchy, but I'll probably hit half of them, and the damage is enough to one-shot on a crit.

This hoodlum rolled elite - annoying as hell this early in the game. I'm gonna suppress him with the VHPD Suppressor to delay his turn until after Albus can move. I'd love for this to hit because Albus doesn't have the damage to one-shot these units yet.
A proper lp of this would take a million updates, jesus christ. I was hoping to have the entire map done in 10 posts but I haven't even killed the first pack yet.
>>
File: 470310_20260523155725_1.png (1.9 MB)
It did hit, which is great for next turn. Unfortunately, moving up to finish off this fighter in the bottom right revealed the rest of the pack.
While I'm tempted to suppress the Swordsman, it wouldn't change the combat's outcome as much as killing the fighter as originally intended.
>>
File: upd_3.png (3.8 MB)
Albus takes his turn, and prepares to blast the injured enemy with Fresh Breeze. This attack sucks later, but for now Albus can't one-shot enemies so it's great for spreading the damage around.
Another bonus is that - like Gentle Gust - it's a Wind attack, so using it pumps up Albus' wind SP by the vigor he spends, which is 14.
Anyway, he did as much damage as he had to, and the enemies all missed their attacks
>>
File: 470310_20260523160658_1.png (1.9 MB)
A bit of mopping up, and it's time to Gentle Gust this guy. Notice that Albus has 40% crit damage now instead of 16. That's because his critical damage increases by 1% per wind SP, and it's the reason he's using Gentle Gust now even though a simple slash would be enough to finish the enemy.
If I continue this in the future, I promise not to spend much time on basic mechanics because everyone here plays the game, but SP gain is often overlooked in my experience, especially in the earlygame where it makes a massive difference to your units' power.
>>
File: 470310_20260523161207_1.png (1.9 MB)
In the interest of not running out of vigor while fighting Jason, I use Vigor Restoration on everyone. The long AT cost isn't a big deal because there aren't any enemies aggroed at the moment.
>>
>>
File: upd_4.jpg (745.2 KB)
The unit order on the right is perfect, so I set up Overwatch with the three Suppressors before blasting the group with Sion's chain lightning to open the engagement. The positioning I've got set up so that Sion - the squishiest unit of the party - is protected from Jason as much as possible.
Sion's lightning nails a guy and crits on Jason, which is the most important thing here. The Overwatch shots that trigger as the enemies dive for cover ended up killing some bat-using guy who ran in from the fog of war.
Had to jpg this one because the image was >4mb. That's going to be a pain in the future if I continue to do these in the thread instead of an external site.
>>
File: upd_5.jpg (756.1 KB)
I drop a fresh breeze on his head, and he runs out to miss my Suppressor. Damage is damage, and it's still building my SP. A lot safer than trying to run out and get a flanking hit on him, and now he's in a really vulnerable position.
>>
>>
File: upd_6.jpg (598.9 KB)
Sion drops a lightning bolt on a Fighter that tried to approach around the back, and my suppressor gets blocked by the other Fighter, which is a bit annoying. I wanted that area clear!
I could have zapped Jason instead, but I don't think it would have made much of a difference to my turn economy compared to making sure I don't get Uppercut'd for 40 AT.
>>
File: upd_7.jpg (689.1 KB)
Suppression to Jason and a finishing blow to the Fighter.
I think I fucked up the timing of the screenshot of Jason being hit - He took more than 36 damage and ended the turn on 286 HP.
>>
File: 470310_20260523164605_1.png (2.1 MB)
A bit of suppression later and Sion takes his next turn, using his overcharge to wipe Jason and another fighter off the face of the Earth.
Jason dropped Lightning Reflexes, one of the less useful ones he could have dropped at this point in the game honestly, but at least it wasn't Martial Arts Manual.
>>
>>
File: upd_9.jpg (436.5 KB)
And that's the map complete. 71 minutes for a map that would have taken me maybe 15 without stopping to screenshot.
I also ate about 20 image and post slots even with stacking a bunch, so I'm not that keen on continuing.

Depends on whether you know how to deal with him. Final Resistance + Forgotten Pain can be very annoying if you don't want to sacrifice anyone to get rid of Frenzy, he has gigadick Barbarian damage and his personal skill gives him +1% accuracy for each percentage of HP he's missing so he's nearly impossible to dodge.

Out of curiosity I looked into the code to find out what the chance of potion side effects are
>almost every potion has 95% chance of the regular effect and 5% chance of side-effect
>the only exception is Sleeping Pills, which has a 70% chance of Hibernation and a 30% chance of Stun
I guess Death Potions are technically an exception too because they don't have side effects at all.
Other things I learned in a similar part of the code:
>Malfunction chance of Acceleration Propeller and Smoke Generator is the same as the natural chance of potion side effects: 5%
>Kylie's hologram raises enemies' aggro towards it by 9999 when you summon it

I really don't know how often I should host these. Every month seems too often. Once every three months, maybe? And once per year for the tournament
>>
>>
>>2413719
Once every couple of months sounds good. It needs a novelty factor so anons don't get bored and it becomes 2 guys doing the majority of the drawing.
Maybe one day we can do a drawpile and email it to Dandy as hello from the english side of the pond. Kinda like when /v/ used to do letters for devs.
>>
>>2413740
Considering how fast we've been moving lately (relatively), once per thread is almost as fast as once per month. And the creative muscle gets exhausted fast. We've already had only a few people drawing, and I think it'll just end up being 2 people desperately trying to fill the canvas, like >>2413741 said.
>Maybe one day we can do a drawpile and email it to Dandy as hello from the english side of the pond
That's a fun little idea, we could try that.No Anne pussy though, posting even this much was a bit of a risk, considering how pissy mods and jannies can get at the tiniest things, so we've got to be on our best behavior for Dandy

A common criticism of the game is that it's too slow at the beginning and doesn't do the best job at introducing all the mechanics, it's the kinda game that doesn't get good until you play it a bit and unlock more team members and builds.
There are cute girls waiting for you if you do get far enough into the game though

As silly as "It gets good after 20 hours" sounds, this really is a game that gets good after 20 hours. It's about 160 hours long not accounting for deaths/grindan so there's still a lot of the game that kicks ass even with the slow start.

Makes me think how funny it is to inflict Confusion on Black Clown Masks.
>confusion triggers the automatic move/attack

He fills a pretty similar role to Irene, so unless you're planning to bond them it's pretty easy to bench her temporarily. If you're not working on drones with Kylie then she's pretty easy to justify benching as well for most maps that she's not forced on.
>>
>>2415812
>If you're not working on drones with Kylie then she's pretty easy to justify benching
Kylie can spam holograms, give people free turns, put detected/revealed across a wide area, and has a decent multi-hit. Even without drones she's one of the last characters I would consider benching since her support abilities are extremely useful for late-game violent cases.
>>

Kylie looks older here than she does during the present. Anyways it always seemed to me that Kylie and Ryo had more of a sibling or master/retainer relationship instead of childhood friends or lovers.
>>2417076
My headcanon is that undyings or people with revival abilities all get growth spurts or are just naturally tall. Sharky, John, and Carter are all very tall, Mungo King became a giant ape after being made an undying, and Heixing presumably got a growth spurt after being made an undying in the fortress.

Probably this unironically. Stronger workers give higher output as long as they're not so strong as to rise up. It's not quite the same circumstances, but given howcasually Vendetta gave their kids drugsthere's a good chance the Fortress of Suffering does the same.

You have to reassign the party members because it defaults to whatever the previous party configuration was. I usually set up a couple of quick formations to easily fill it back up.

The % is the chance to block.
So at 50% block, there's a half chance you block and a half chance you don't :)
If an attack is blocked, it cuts it damage in half. Blocked attacks also can't crit, and block chance also reduces the chance your units are crit.
However there are masteries, status effects, and field effects that can reduce block when an enemy attacks you, and some attacks are unblockable. So if you're wondering why your units with 100%+ block chance aren't blocking some attacks, that's why. Making sure your units that rely on block don't get stunned or frozen is very important. Also Final Resistance blocks literally everything regardless of whether or not the attack is blockable or whatever status effect the unit may have, it also blocks against luck and always crit.
Unblockable attacks also ignore the crit reduction from block, which is why Irene's Front Breakthrough always has a high crit chance.
Having enemy block reduction on some of your units is very useful against certain late game enemies.

Ryo's sword is called "Breaking Sword" even in the early game dockyard mission.
In the tutorial with Jean there's a scene where Ryo and Skull Slasher are chatting too and they both have their unique swords before they run in fear from Albus and Jean.
I think the implication is that Ryo broke Skull Slasher's sword in a friendly duel, it makes sense they would work together too since they both have issues with the Black Pearl troubleshooter company.

The rebalanced information gain rate has pretty satisfying on my most recent playthrough. Enemy information maxes after a couple of maps so there are a lot more new masteries coming in from claiming rewards than previously, and bosses that appear on more than one map like Kaze and Nevil have been getting maxed without any repeats necessary. If I was playing on Challenge Mode it'd probably be possible to complete their info in a single map.
Dandi did a really good job with this one.

As another anon said, you can get silence immunity from a gear set, though I don't think the materials to craft it are available until you unlock a certain violent case.
Mutant does a pretty good job at clearing silence on any character that doesn't have access to other masteries that can clear debuffs on their own.
Stuff like Lightning Reflexes or DPS helps with keeping your ESP units from getting cucked over by an Overwatch Silencing Shot.
>>2418414
>>2418422
You Can't Do Anything should really only activate on crit like Posture Breakdown. Even if it only affects ESP abilities, having a ranged attack that can easily cuck most units from using their abilities feels pretty overtuned. Then again, it's only the player team that has a bunch of ESP users after the spoonists stop showing up so I guess it's pretty fair in the sense that it does nothing against most enemy units. I think Dandylion just put it on all those DLC rangers as part of them intentionally making the DLCs ball-crushingly hard for the player.

>what the hell were they thinking with misty?
Misty is perfect for DLC2, if you know how to use her. Like any stealth character she's best used to take out priority targets your other units wouldn't easily be able to reach.
Stealth is great for closing the distance to snipers and her basic attack is a multi-hit that bypasses their Impulse Fields. Sneak attacks are also ignore all block and dodge so she's great against dodgefags and blockfags and tends to get a lot of multi-hit crits. She easily kills white destrons in a single turn with her 4-attack ability from hide. Tsunami also goes through Mimicking Evasion so water ESP Misty can easily cuck over mungos.
Just be sure to send her off through a flank so she doesn't break stealth in the middle of a bunch of enemies. Hit and run tactics work best. Her long cooldowns are annoying but with her ridiculous speed (or Catharsis, or Circumpolar Current) she can wait them out much quicker than any other unit to return to stealth and take out another difficult enemy.
>>

>>2418757
Overlapping Coincidence (the one where the team gets split into 2 before the clowns attack) was when I had to start grinding and min-maxing my builds. I could deal with the clowns when my team was together but when forcibly separated they would all get killed before I could bring them back into formation. The final DLC1 mission also filtered me quite a bit.
I didn't struggle too much with DLC2 story missions other than the mission with the Red Sand snipers on top of all the buildings, probably because by then I had played 52v and 54v dozens of times and gotten used to destron and ranger fuckery. I still sometimes get filtered by Mungo Hell though.

60v makes me wish we had more close-quarters missions where Sweepers with Close Suppressing Fire can shine, they're kinda a jobber enemy class otherwise.
>>2418763
There's a Rogue set that gives her an AP refund when she kills an enemy in stealth, I think it's on her default board. If you use that AP to move her to cover or kill an immediate threat then she can survive a lot longer.
>>
>>2418762
>I didn't struggle too much with DLC2 story missions other than the mission with the Red Sand snipers on top of all the buildings
This was the hardest part of the game for me. The police and their support fire to negate the sniper reaction shot spam is the only reason I won DLC2 mission 7. The one thing I didn't like about DLC 2 is how the two misty maps are basically gimmicks and the earlier ones before the bridge fight are pretty easy. I stunlocked the healer serpent with misty's kick against the wall to win
>>
>>2418767
>the earlier ones before the bridge fight are pretty easy
I'm not sure what they were thinking bringing back the White Tigers for one mission in DLC2 when by the end of the base game they're the designated jobber faction. At least Jim is an interesting enemy.
>I stunlocked the healer serpent with misty's kick against the wall to win
That's the intended way of doing that solo mission I'm pretty sure. Misty even says to use Wave Kick in dialogue.

3542 hours and I've just figured out what the intended use case for Heixing's kick is. It's for knocking enemies out from smokescreen. Three tiles of knockback is enough to push them into the clear from anywhere within a smoke cloud, and it's Blunt/Melee so it doesn't suffer an accuracy penalty from the smoke.

No, it's kino. You use Sweeping Fire in still stance, and if anyone survives you get another action point. With Sweeper cooldown masteries it's possible to fire off two or more Sweeping Fires in one turn.
>>
>>2419443
>>2419446
Forgot to mention it also stacks with One Shot One Kill, so if you blast a whole group with Sweeping Fire in still stance and most of them die from full HP but one or two survive by blocking/missing/whatever, you get 2 action points back like it's the start of your turn again. It doesn't put you back in Still Stance though so you can't chain it infinitely, but it's still great for repositioning and continuing to kill stuff.
Also, it means using Sweeping Fire in Still Stance is a win/win: If all the enemies die, you get an action point from Mop Up. If the enemies don't die, you still get another action point from Re-Mop Up.
