Missing the concert, in and of itself, was a pretty big deal for her. But it didn't happen on its own; there was a bunch of other shit happening to her, and missing the concert was the last straw.
There's also the issue that her (Korean/Confucian) parents don't want her to move out, and they don't care that them being overbearing parents is the reason for her mental health issues to begin with. If she moves out of her parents' house, and it's for any other reason than her moving in with a husband of their choosing, then they will disown her; but if she does not move out, and if she does not live her life in EXACTLY the manner of their choosing, then they will continue to be dicks to her and make her mental health worse.

The worst part of these threads is how a lot of her "supporters" don't even notice that they're probably way more toxic to her than any hater will ever be. She can throw it to your face and you'll sitll not accept it. While thinking that her going beyond the line is her "finally having some boundaries", which is nonsense for anyone knowing the meaning of that word and while cultivating her magic pill fetish; everything is Korea's fault, everything is the meds or lack of meds' fault when meds are not meant to be used lake that without proper therapy, everything is 4chan's fault, everything is her family's fault, etc. And people have been doing that for more than a year now. A lot of her reactions aren't even helpful for her, she herself admit it and apologize, erase de apologies, and then say that she's not in the right headspace to listen to others, while basically trying to find things to blame for her current state that make no sense at all to try to feel like she's in control even if it makes no sense and will only worsen things over time. Sometimes, the people supporting you can be worse than any hacker, particularly with her who needed people she can truc; she last thing she needed was to feel like she was cultivating an army of simps. The ones trying to guilt trip her to have what they want rather than what's good to her are to blame, but herself shifting from no backbone to not listening to anyone to not be guilt-tripped and people always blaming it on hater on whatever external cause she has no control over are just as bad. It's been this way here since forever, with a spike early last year. And people have been treating her with kid gloves even when she went full scortched earth for no reason other than giving herself an excuse not to come back and punish herself in a way no one wanted and that won't improve anything. Adding to that the merch store issues and all the other problems she has as a content creator in Korea (tax bullshit, mega toxic society, etc.) made 2025 a grueling year for her. It’s just really really bad luck that the concert shit happened at a time when she was already super vulnerable and it made a spectacle for antis to latch onto and make her doubt/hate herself.

FWIW I don’t think /tingles/ are horrible people or anything, they just have a different worldview and set of values than honeymeads do and that’s what leads to the mutual accusations of being a bootlicker or being heartless or whatever. They sure as shit don’t like the Brazilian schizo lol.

One thing I would add though, a lot of this drama gets framed as if Mio is completely BPD or irrational for losing her shit at the concert. Anti-med paragraph guy kinda has a logical point (and to be quite honest some tinglers had solid advice even if they said it in the shittiest way possible) but you have to view it in the context of a young girl who has been gaslighted her whole life and ended up in a particularly seedy internet subculture. She’s going to stumble many many times until she’s able to come to the logical conclusions, just the fact she is on the right track with recognizing her problems is a huge step forward. Also, Korea is infamous for throwing meds at any mental problem and sweeping things under the rug. It won’t be easy or quick for her to find a doctor that wants to do actual long lasting therapy instead of just prescribing medication.

The one thing I believe is really sad about all this is that she came out of that announcement stream thinking that she was a bad or broken person, when really it was the logical result of her being in a really bad situation (online and offline) and Internet culture making the bad parts of the fandom more visible. It’s just a stumble that I genuinely hope her and other people can learn from.
