Thanks a lot, anon. I love them. Unfortunately the one with the Sakura tree doesn't seem to fit quite as nicely in my phone as the others, as in the "box" seems to be a tad too big to be shown in its entirety while leaving a small margin on the sides from the edges of the screen like the
others due to my dumbass phone forcing a zoom effect on every wallpaper I set and it triggers my autism. I'll see if I can fix it since the pape is real nice.

To me, what makes renders in shapes wallpapers interesting is because they create the illusion of depth, which you can get by using clever shape interaction, adding shadow, blur etc.
But it's still an anime wallpaper, so the main focus should always be making your render subject look good

Sure mate. If you’re really into that you should do it with high quality vectors and use simple and plain colours for the background inside the shape and heavily filtered/edited backgrounds for the outside. I just answer requests when I happen to have the time though.

Haven't been in these threads in forever, but as I ran into this Suigintou picture I figured I'd drop by and ask if someone here would be willing to turn it into a 1920x1080 wallpaper.

My idea is having her placed in a shape at the very middle but I'm rather clueless at to what would work. Maybe a rectangle with a soft border as most I've seen posted in this thread so far?

Also rather clueless for the background I guess, but since there are already a lot of dark roses in the picture, maybe going with something similar wouldn't be a bad idea.

Which one looks better? Not talking about the individual drawing, but the style given to it, the variables are:

I'm partial towards the one with the wall background, kinda looks like a painting on a frame, but one of those generated fake ones you see in product reviews, any idea on how to make the frame not look "fake" but still maintaining a modern look?

That's up to you and how you want your device to look. Usually, I'll drop it into Chrome and F11 to see.
For shadows, I prefer the inner shadow. That's enough illusion to make it seem like you have a solid frame. However, if you want to use both, try applying different types of blur to each. Study how shadows are supposed to behave, and adjust opacity and blend mode
No problems with solid colour or texture background.
If you want to use the scaled image bg, you don't need to adjust that layer's opacity. Simply add a new white or black layer on top, set it to overlay, and adjust the opacity of that layer instead. Non-destructive, and you can easily revert if you want to.

What you want to do with renders in shape papes is to create an illusion of depth. You can do this with shape interaction, shadows, blur, etc.
You don't need a HQ render or bg to do this. In fact, it won't really work if the bg is more detailed than the render. Pic related to show how blurs create depth, and how it makes the subject pop out more.
