Took this one myself and I see it posted sometimes. I have a higher res version somewhere, so I'll post it whenever I find it again.

I love this type of thread, thanks for keeping it up long enough for me to notice it. I'll do a small dump of my collection, most of this thread is IRL style, so I'll try to keep to that.

i've read that it's either Australia or Italy, the original photographer posted it on a /p/ or /wg/ thread a long time ago with some details

And now Walmart has purchased Monroeville Mall. (For non-Pittsburgh anons, that's a piece of local history, being the filming location for Dawn of the Dead.)
>>
>>8092315
I thought it got torn down a few years ago.

>>8095801
Oh shit, are they going to demolish it? I recall it got updated some years back and looks nothing like the movie now.

This picture feels like it completely captures the feeling of America during a time like The Goonies, I.T (the 90s one), Jumanji and all those sorts of suburbs from those movies. Americans are so goddamn lucky.

Surely places like that are still around? I doubt the things in the more quiet/rural parts of the US like in that picture have turned total shit, especially places like Maine.

this aesthetic is one of the big reasons I haven't moved out of the PNW and back to the desert. The rain gets annoying sometimes when you're trying to do thing, but watching the PNW rain from a bedroom window is a calm I've rarely experienced in my life. The desert gets some crazy rain and thunderstorms, but the vibe is not the same.

"liminal" does not apply to most of these.
liminal =/= disquieting, but interesting pics.
>>
>>8102226
Where was this?
>>
>>8128829
liminality is a very subjective concept though; it varies depending on where one grew up, and the kind of environments that make up your subconscious landscape
I do agree that it doesn't have to emanate creepy vibes though

To me it's like dreams environments
Not *quite* inhabited
>>
>>8128847
also gotta make me somewhat wonder "have I already seen this place before?"
Or someplace like it
Or possibly even been there, or in a place that looks like that
>>
>>8128829

True to its etymology ("liminal" being derived from the Latin word limen, meaning "threshold"), liminal spaces are locations that, due to their function, are transitional in nature, such as hallways, waiting rooms, parking lots, or highway rest stops. Liminal space aesthetics arise from the feelings of eeriness, nostalgia, and apprehension people describe when presented with such places outside of their designed context; most notably, their function as intermediary points between origin and destination. For instance, empty stairwells or hospital corridors at night are often considered foreboding and creepy because these places are usually brimming with life, and the absence of people creates an otherworldly and forlorn atmosphere.
