Everybody with a normal social circle knows at least one couple, if not several, where the girl is significantly more attractive than the guy. I get it, than again you probably never experienced growing this good looking and all the positive interactions with other people it brings along the way. Imagine being salivated over/looked up to solely based on your looks a bit of a personality.
That will inflate your ego hard. It's not even their fault mostly if it's simply the way of they been treated whole life to that point .

This has massive downside, when characters like this loose the beauty its often big shock for them how the relationship with the world they knew has deteriorated.

It's not mystery why good looking peeps are often very shallow, lacking depth in their personality because simply there was little need to work on personality/cleverness much

Why is the ratio of 8-10/10 men to 8-10/10 women so off? Daily I see women that could be classified at 8s or 10s, but I rarely see a man that looks like anyone in this thread, and when I do its a very special occurrence.

First thing that comes to mind is daily habits, the culture of women compare to culture of men.

Women are better at "upgrading" their looks, taking care of themselves, stylising themselves in general. It's imbedded them much more than in men, again in general men are more "rough" around the edges.

More to the point you don't have to look like these men posted her to be very attractive to women, lot of women like the "grizzly" looks.
