FAQ
>What is Hellenism / Hellenic Polytheism?
Worship of the ancient Greek gods (Olympians, chthonic deities, heroes, daimones) using rituals, altars, and festivals. Modern “Hellenismos” often combines devotion with study of philosophy and classical sources.
>Is it just “paganism”?
Not really. “Pagan” is a Christian term. Hellenism is a living revivalist religion rooted in historical Greek practice.
>What is Neoplatonism and why is it relevant?
A philosophical system from Plotinus Proclus that explains the cosmos as emanations from “The One.” It influenced late antique Hellenism, theurgy, and esoteric thought. Devotees often integrate contemplation of the One with ritual worship of gods.
>What is theurgy?
Ritual practice aimed at invoking or communing with divine intelligences.
>How do I start practicing?
Build a small altar for gods you feel drawn to, offer prayers, incense, libations, or simple daily rituals, study classical sources (Homer, Hesiod, Plutarch, Neoplatonists), start philosophical contemplation and meditation alongside ritual.

The great benefit of the Hellenic Pantheon is that they do indeed exist, in a very real way, and the mysteries concerning them are the closest to the “real situation”.

Thoughts on Carl Jung? I have been thinking lately that he is exactly was Modern Hellenist would have been like, a true 20th century oracle.
Carl Jung was a modern Alchemist, a Hermeticist, and thus a Hellenist since Hermeticism is the distillation of the Hellenic wisdom carried through the Ages. His work epitomized the Delphic maxim, 'Know thyself'. This maxim relates to the Hermetic principle of the Microcosm mirroring the Macrocosm, so understanding yourself becomes fundamental to understanding the Cosmos, unified via the Logos. Carl Jung provides us with a road map to achieve Henosis or unity with the Logos, as is Neoplatonic practice. I also find a Jungian lens to be a really compelling way to understand the Gods, because if the Gods are real and exist within our psyche, that means that followng the Hermetic principle they are exist at the Macrocosmic level as well.
Even the whole field of Psychology seems highly Orphic to me. Psyche just means soul in Greek afterall.

One of the most confusing aspects of Jung is his lack of treatment of Greek myth in general. When discussing the feminine chaos void archetype (paraphrasing), he completely fails (or intentionally chooses not) to mention anything about Metis, Memnosyne, Athena, Hera, Hecate, etc... which are, as a selective feminine pantheon, probably the most potent symbols of this archetype. He seems otherwise autistically obsessed with poorly attested Germanic mythologies and of course, most unfortunately, Christianity. I believe he was unconsciously heavily prejudiced against Hellenism for some reason.

>I believe he was unconsciously heavily prejudiced
You sure? He was pretty careful about some things but I think that had external reasons. Do we know who he might have talked to late at night inside his mind ... I mean, you do not write so obsessively about anima figures if they leave you cold.
