DO NOT TAKE LSD BEFORE GOING TO YOUR JUDO TOURANMENT!!!!
THIS WAS MY FIRST EVER TOUARNMENT AS A WHITE BELT AND I REALLY NERVOUS SO I DROPPED 3 HITS OF ACID I GOT FROM A "PEN-PAL" IN HOLLAND GOING INTO THE HIGHSCHOOL GYMNASIUM THIS WAS TAKING PLACE (I DROVE AN HOUR TO GET THERE BUT DIDNT TAKE ANY BEFORE DRIVIGN DONT WORRY)
MY HEART WAS RACING SO I TOOK ONE AND I DIDNT FEEL THE EFFECTS FOR THE FIRST 20 MINUTES SO I TOOK ANOTHER HOPING TO GOD IT WOULD CALM ME DOWN
MY MATCH WAS IN 45 MINUTES AND I WAS STILL FUCKING JACKED BEFORE FIGHTING SOME UZBEKISTANI CAVEMAN WHO'S TRYING TO GO TO THE JUNIOR OLYMPICS OR SOME SHIT SO I TOOK ANOTHER TAB
MY COACHES TELL ME TO GET READY AND HEAD FOR THE MAT, IM STILL WONDERING IF I GOT N-BOME'D BUT MY GUY WAS REPPED AND THE SHIT WASN'T BITTER SO I JUST THOUGHT I GOT A WEAK DOSE
THEN I WALKED INTO THE GYM, EVERYTHING STARTED TO FUCKING GO WRONG IN MY BRAIN
I STARTED TO SWEAT REALLY BAD AND I FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO EDING BUT I WASNT HARD I JUST FELT LIKE CUMMING
ANYWAYS I BARLEY GET ONTO THE MAT, ZOOKED OUT, THE MAT FEELS LIKE WHEN YOU'RE STANDING ON THE OCEAN SHORELINE AND FEEL THE SAND BEING PULLED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH YOU WHEN THE CURRENT GOES OUT AND MY ENTIRE PERCEPTION OF MOVEMENT OR TIME GOT CRANKED UP BY LIKE 5 LEVELS
>>
MY OPPONTENT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS JITTERING UP AND DOWN AND THE BLUE IN HIS GI KEPT VIBRATING A BUNCH OF HUES AND THE ENTIRE BACKDROP WAS LIKE FLICKERING FLOURSCENT LIGHT BULBS
I FUCK UP THE BOW TWICE AND TRY TO SAY IM NEW AND NOT FROM THIS TOWN (????) AND I BOW TO THE GUY BEFORE WE START
I KEEP BOUNCING LIKE IM DOING BOXING AND KEEP GOING IN A FUCKING CIRCLE AROUND THE GUY FOR A SOLID MINUTE BEFORE THE REF CALLS ME OUT FOR STALLING AND WE RESET
I DO THE SAME SHIT, EVERYTHING IN THE ROOM IS SPINNING, I FEEL LIKE IM AT A TILT-A-WHIRL ATTRACTION, (IM DOUSED IN SWEAT, MY GI IS LITERALLY DRIPPING IN SWEAT)
I CAN BARELY MAKE OUT THE GUY AND HIS SCARY MUSLIM FACE, I TRIPPED OVER AND THE GUY MOVES IN TO TRY AND THROW ME
I TRY TO HIT OSOTO ON HIM (HE WAS BEHIND ME) AND END UP FALLING DIRECTLY ON MY FACE WITH NO BREAKFALL
HE GETS TO MY BACK, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING, I JUST REMEMBER HIM TAKING MY BACK AND PUTTING ME IN A PIN WHERE I THOUGHT HE WAS HUGGING ME SO I EMBRACED HIM AND STARTED TO SPOON HIM
I LOST
I DONT GET UP FROM THE GROUND AND I NEED TO BE LIFTED TO MY FEET BY MY COACH AND THE REF
THE SPORTS MED TEAM ASK ME IF I HAD TAKEN ANYTHING BEFORE COMING THERE AS I LOOK LIKE I JUST JUMPED INTO A POOL FIVE MINUTES BEFORE HAND AND MY EYES ARE LIKE BUTTONS
GET REALLY MAD AND START ASKING WHY THEY'RE ACCUSING ME OF TAKING LSD (THEY DIDNT ASK THAT)
EVERYTHING IS STILL VERY VIVID AND NOW I FEEL LIKE IM PEEING MYSELF (I DIDNT BUT IT FELT LIKE I WAS)
PASS OUT IN THE MEDICAL FOLDING CHAIR AND WAKE UP AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL

what the fuck do you even do in this scenario as a 15 year old japanese boy
>>
Are there judoka who never do hip throws?
Whenever I get taught any judo I really struggle with hip throws. It feels like a 10 step process to awkwardly get your hips into the exact position. It never works for me
Trips feel much easier to do. Drop seo nage feels much easier to do.
>>
>>
>>250239
Are you tall? In general hip throws are going to be easier for manlets since you need to get below the opponents center of gravity. Conversely, Lanklets have an advantage doing ashi waza because their leg length gives them more leverage.

Intentionally lose.
Japanese culture has this thing where it's considered inappropriate and disrespectful to make your seniors or superiors look bad by outperforming them, so those boys held back so as to not dishonor themselves or their coach.

He could also have small legs and a big torso, in which case he's completely fucked for Judo.

Jk, just get better anon. You're just going to have to muscle into your throws. HanpanTV has a good video on kuzushi for hip throws.

Now it's all pearl clutching normals, government, and tik tokked soulless young people getting OFFENDED and trying to BAN everything
It used to be a safe space for nerds to have fun and a wild west. Now it's just like going to your after work drinks. Tame discussion and BE CAREFUL NOT TO SAY ANYTHING against the CURRENT APPROVED OPINION

>the uchi mata hip pain is back
>>
>>
>>251355
>>251410
Here are some thjngsings you can do to ease the pain and even fix it.
First, if your pain gets better during training and worse after a while or the next day this means you probably have a weak core and hips, since it gets better during training thats's because your muscles get activated during training, then what you need to do is to do isometric for your core and hips.
If on the contrary your pain gets worsensuri during training then you can look into the following tests.
-sit straight in a chair and pull yourself down, if this causes pain then you likely have a pinched nerve, then you need to do core exercises.
Do the same test but with a round back, if this causes pain your spinal erectors are weak and need lower back strength and bracing your core properly.
-put your leg in a figure 4 and if your painful leg has more mobility than your non painful side or just have more mobility even with no pain, then you likely have long piriform syndrome and need to strengthen that leg and if its the opposite result you need to stretch that leg more.
Since you mentioned uchi mata im assuming this mean there's pain during uchi mata, first fix your form, you're probably trying to lift them with your leg, get your hips in lower and think of doing a seoi nage while lifting your leg, there shouldn't be any effort in your lifting leg.
Now if your pain is on the side of your lifting leg and that leg has more mobility than the other, then strengthen those hamstrings and hips if you have less mobility theb stretch that leg.
You will likely need to do several of these results.
So do core isometrics, lower back strength, hip exercises and try to match the mobility and strength of both hamstrings.
This one is the most unlikely but if you feel better after resting a few days then do the exercises but with very light weights and low volume, over time increase the weight and volume and abstain from judo for a while, this can be a couple week to a couple months.
>>
>>
The other day a person that recently went to go do the black belt exam at the kodokan and he says weight lifting is a bad idea "every hour spent lifting weights is one less hour training"
Judo will always be second class in the martial arts world until that attitude changes

Definitely not
Judo is all old guys with pot bellies and crusty feet, nogi is all young guys
Old men always gravitate towards the gi because they need their crutch to hang on to the young guys since their old shitty bodies can't do it alone
>>
What I need: a black belt in judo
What I won't do: 1 memorize a bunch of unrealistic low percentage meme throws with arbitrary mechanics and definitions for demonstration purposes
2 Kata or belt testing that assesses anything outside of live ability
3 learn historical trivia irrelevant to actual practice
4 participate in watered down bitch ass competitions with no leg grabs
Knowing all that, wat do
>>
>>
>>
>>252281
It will give me more credibility when I talk shit online
I went through the long gay process of getting a bjj black belt out of spite alone
Judo has been on the list for almost 10 years now but I absolutely hate judo classes
At least bjj is kind of self aware about how gay and stupid it is, but judo still takes itself too seriously

>It will give me more credibility when I talk shit online
No it won't. If real, I respect how insanely retarded you have to be to believe something like this and actually put in the work, because as far as I know, getting a BJJ black belt is much more of a PITA.
Also
>4 participate in watered down bitch ass competitions with no leg grabs

>>
>>252318
The process of getting the jiujitsu belt is way less gay, it's literally just be good at jiujitsu
Go roll around and if you're getting more submissions than you're giving up you move up in the world
You don't have to go to any promotionals or do katas for judges, or any *groan* written exams
And if you do want to do competitions you have a variety of rules to choose from, it's not going to be this blanket international Olympic shit
>gets knee touched lightly
>Agh ahh noo kano sensei help meeeee!!
A black belt yelled at me for armbaring him in judo class because I'm not a brown belt
So what?
>>
>>
>>252259
To become a black belt in Judo, you have to present a general knowledge of Judo so if you were put in a situation where you had to teach Judo to newer generations, you could.
Knowing the greater scape of (1) is required, knowing the lesser scape of (3) is helpful, (2) is required. Funny enough (4) isn't that big of something many older Sensis care about because they want you to learn the art of Judo and not so much the sport.
You have to teach Judo to become a black belt, you don't have to go to Internationals, but you do need to know the difference between Hiza Guruma and Sasae.
Also, many Sensis promote based off of observation and subjectivity. If you're not doing good, have an attitude, or don't wish to remember shit, it will only hinder your career in Judo.
>>
>>252421
Problem is judo has so many things that are a distinction without a difference
Like the nami gyaku kata chokes
There isn't any good reason to define them as something different because of which way your hand is facing, they're functionally identical and you don't even need to grip anything if you don't want to if the grip isn't even required it shouldn't be the defining feature
This is just one example, I've seen loads of redundancies in judo
>>
>>
>>252421
black belt requirements depends entirely on the head instructor and your goals as a judoka. What you're describing though are general requirements.
Some USA Judo schools require testing as a primary. Other schools like competition schools have a heavier focus on your competition success and then there are schools that focus more on the philosphical aspects of judo and just want to spread judo around.
If you dont believe me, to compete at an early kyu rank before brown and you'll meet white belts with like 17 wins multiple golds that are stuck at white belt for some ungodly reason. I even witnessed a guy derank from yellow to white for some reason
>>
>>252421
>>252432
ive met brown belts that dont even know the kodokan judo book exists. They didnt even know what kuzushi, tsukuri, and kake were. How you rank is entirely dependent on your instructor and goals as a judoka.
Ive also met judoka that just slam the fuck out of their Uke like crazy and never learned to grip properly after a throw
>>
>>252433
bad schools exist in judo but it's in a completely different vein of "bad schools" in comparison to bjj
A bad Judo school will still be teaching functional, useful and applicable judo.
A bad bjj school will tell you that a 130lb woman can use a double leg and a juji-gatame to stop a 300lb powerlifter from assaulting them is 100% doable
>>
>>252428
This is a consequence of jiujitsu being evolution minded and results driven
It's not pretending one guy over a 100 years ago figured everything out and now those are the divinely inspired holy techniques that shall never be changed
So yes in jiujitsu you may have people say saddle, 4/11, and honey hole describe the exact same position
But on the other hand judokas don't even have a name for it because it doesn't even exist to them
"If it's not in the book, we ain't gonna learn it"
>>
>>252454
>This is a consequence of jiujitsu being evolution minded and results driven
Bjj hasn't evolve or show any significant results since the early 2000.
Bjj niggas lives for ever in the 90s coasting off the success of early bjjfags.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>252467
That's only the gi babbies
It's a quick sniff test you can do to see if someone sucks at grappling or not, are they wearing the 19th century japanese pajamas in a western country in the current year
Judo didn't take root in the US the same way it did other places because we already had a robust grappling sport
Then the Brazilians made a name for themselves beating up on strip mall karate masters under their own house rules using basic ass sloppy judo
Fast forward to 2015 when post collegiate wrestlers we're interested in still competing but bjj competitions are the only thing that offer nogi grappling as an adult
Then we find out all it takes to be a medalist on the world stage in bjj is some unremarkable d3 wrestling skills and a positive attitude
Many peolle saw the writing on the wall and here we are, now everyone relevant in jiuiitsu is a scholastic wrestler with some cheeky submissions and everyone left behind are pajama huggers
>>
>>252454
>This is a consequence of jiujitsu being evolution minded and results driven
No that's the result of 4 different guys all making up random names for the same thing. But somehow this is less triggering for autists.
>But on the other hand judokas don't even have a name for it because it doesn't even exist to them
They do have names for them, otherwise Danaher wouldn't have Japanese terms to steal and butcher the names of them.

Talked to a black belt about how I want a black belt but don't want to learn the stuff and he said he doesn't remember any of it himself
So there we have it, just like highschool Spanish class. He memorized it long enough to pass the test then completely forgot about it
So why even require it in the first place
>>
>>
>>
>>
There's a judo black belt who goes to my BJJ sessions. He's wears a no stripe white belt to BJJ and he's a real menace to spar with. He destroys me and I've seen him give a stalemate to 4 stripe blue belts whilst rolling
He says he also hasn't done judo for around 10 years but clearly a lot of the skill has remained..
Is judo ground work really that good to the point this guy is basically giving purple belts a difficult time?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>253035
The thing about judo groundwork is that when on top they focus on pins similar to wrestling and then get submissions from there, when on the bottom they focus on removing weight off you by shifting the opponent weight.
To clarify this isn't exclusive to judo, bjj guys do it too but bjj tends to focus on scrambles and the bottom guard, scrambles need space for them to move wich means there's less weight on the opponent, since most bjj guys prefer the bottom guard, their top control isn't as effective, thus their defense against it isn't that good either which is why wrestlers tend to beat bjj guys often.
Is not that bjj can't do these things but usually they will focus on scrambles and bottom guard which are both weak against good top pressure and since they aren't that good at top control weight shifting makes escaping or defending from the bottom very easy.

Seoi nage, you have to get your shoulders and hips under their shoulders and hips which is a lot easier to do if they are taller than you.
Basically any shoulder or hip throw, throws with a leg block/sweep like uchi mata and harai goshi won't work.
>>
>>
Is this allowed in judo?
https://www.instagram.com/reels/DHrN5PvxSDj/
And if not, is this why judo is seen as weaker than BJJ and wrestling? Because these takedowns are easier to do and accomplish more then arbitrary ippon?
>>
>>
>>
>>254194
Now did you notice how in every single one of those examples except for the morbidly obese guy the person immediately either cleanly disengaged, put a guard in place, or fired back with an attack of their own
Meanwhile shitaro over there just crumpled and accepted his fate
So the guy is trying to sell you on a move claiming it's effective but when we look at the evidence the effectiveness is somewhere between 0 and actively a detriment that will put you in a worse spot by doing it
>>
>>
>>
>>254196
So why are those guys doing that move if it's useless? That's at the high level, if you go to a regular gym people will be doing snap downs to force turtle or front headlock
Ive personally hit a snap down recently with overhand grip in the gi which lead to front headlock
>>
>>
>>
>>254225
bjj honestly takes itself way to seriously compared to wrestling and judo. Hell, even boxing doesnt take itself that serious. Literally listened to a boxing interview yesterday and the guy was down to earth. But every bjj interview is borderline retarded.
>>
>>254307
What, you mean the martial art with the most open ended styles and relaxed rules where people wear funny designs on their rash guards and gi's? The one where all sorts of personalities merge together to train?
The art that does away with bowing and 1 hour long warmups and doing Burpees until you puke? The one where you don't have to take a written, oral and practical exam to belt up?
Yeah sounds like BJJ is the one who takes itself seriously. Kek
>>
>>
>>254314

Jiujitsu doesn't have its own version if stand up, it just copies stuff it sees elsewhere and ends up with ineffective out of context moves
Like turning throws are generally pants on head retarded to do in a jiu jitsu context because the back exposure is a score
The same way you will see people practicing shots by dropping to their knees because that's what they do in wrestling, but in wrestling the posture has the legs way further back and there isn't any reason to get so low in jiujitsu to gain leg access
At the hobbyist level jiujitsu people beat the brakes off of every other grappling art, But at the professional level they are by far the least skilled grapplers

Judo - mostly pointless over complicated shit to score arbitrary ippon.. only works when foot sweeping drunks who are falling over already
Wrestling - good but lack of subs make it sub optimal for combat
BJJ - takes wrestling and judo and makes it optimal for combat

Judo is more realistic than bjj. Most people are armed nowadays. If you get thrown and thrower has a knife, it's over.
This whole propaganda that the fight continues on the ground is just that, propaganda. Most people in the US carry a weapon even trained martial artists carry a knife or gun.
You're wasting your time with bjj. No one is gonna wanna butt scoot with you when they can just kick you in the face when you pull open
