How likely is it to practice martial arts in home, and how can it be done?

The biggest problems in striking are managing distance and creating openings. You will practice neither of these if you are just training alone. Punches and kicks won't do much if they don't land, and landing punches against an opponent who counters and uses footwork is a lot harder than most people think.

You're gonna need a teacher to tell you if you're even doing the move right you could easily practice something like boxing at home only to end up having a shit jab or hook simply becuase you've been training it wrong for ages. Then when you go see a real teacher it's gonna be harder to correct

great to stretch and practice at home but its worthless if you do not spare with an opponent. You do not need to beat the crap out of each other but you need to see how to slip, punch, kick in combos and judge distance and develop timing. There is an old vid of some guy who went to a studio and challenged one of the black belts. The challenger was fast and practiced but not a fighter. The black belt started off with the usual karate style but soon abandoned it and was just swinging wildly. The challenger tried to stop but the black belt would not stop and beat the challenger very badly, he may have dieded. Its a great visual of a real fight, but the challenger thought he was just going to have some fun and if not head got some brain damage. The black belt was all business and wanted to kill the guy. That's a real fight, learn the difference.

Train at home for exercise and fine-tune your techniques. Work out and get stronger when home training. Go all out once you're back in the dojo/home. Get footage of your sparring bouts. Analyze that at home and try to fix your home routine for improvement.

The real trick is that you only train what you actually know. Stop trying to learn new stuff alone, just train your limited knowledge to its peak physicality. A teacher would recognize it and give you something new to work on when you visit. That's like... krotty 101.

Sure, you can even do it with zero equipment if you're okay with the kung fu mindset, which is pretty much doing huge numbers of reps in order to build up to increasingly more difficult movements. You don't learn how to kill people right away but your body becomes a weapon capable of that based on level of daily effort.
