Are you asking for recommendations? These things can be very dependent on personal taste, but I love fanfics so I'll share my favorites.

It's not a deep-cut, but my favorite pure smut fic is "Dirty" by FayJay on AO3 (the prequel "Clean" is also decent, but extremely short). "A Tithe To Hell" is also an old fandom classic I think holds up really well. It's moved from LJ to FF.net to AO3, and it's been one of the most popular DN fics on every website that's hosted it (it looks like it's currently restricted on AO3, so you need an account to view it). Both of these are Light/L, and play on the idea that L is fetishizing his own murder.

My favorite DN longfic is called "Coexistence is Boredom" by Sakurazukamori6. I think the explicit scenes are really well done here too, but I just love the fic all around and highly recommend it. Unfortunately, it only exists on FF.net, and it was never finished, though it was pretty close to wrapped up when it got abandoned so I don't think it suffers too much from it. This one is mostly L/Light, with some switching.

You can also find some gems in the old DN kinkmeme, although it's hell to navigate. It's mostly drabble-length fills of varying quality, but people forget that these things existed for old fandoms. https://dn-kink2.livejournal.com/4933.html

There's a lot of garbage that gets undue attention and clutters up AO3, and old gems collecting dust in LJ and FF.net. If anyone else has recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

"Time Speaks" by aSmallMoon333 on AO3 is insanely good. I also really enjoyed "New Game" by TrashKing (Vanya_Deyja) on AO3 but they don't fuck until the very end. "Time Speaks" is the timeloop one, right? I remember reading it up to the pineapple cum scene, and then I put it down because something didn't sit right with me. You're not the only one I've seen mention it recently, so maybe I'll give it another try.

If you are in the mood for something wholesome with no porn, "Extrajudicial" by Boo_Yeah is a currently updating fic I've really enjoyed. It's maybe a touch on the Light apologia side, but might just think that because I prefer my Lights to be extra diabolical. But it's sweet and L is darling in it. It's a slow-burn still in its' buildup, so I can't vouch for much payoff yet.

"The Hinterland Doctrine" by Halfpromise (formerly known as "Those Who Stand For Nothing Fall For Anything" when it was on FF.net) is a recommendation I give with a bit caveat. The characters are so OOC that they are basically unrecognizable. L especially is essentially an OC in this, and the side characters get it even worse (poor Matt!). But Light is so goddamn funny, and the story takes so many twists and turns that I love it anyways. This one has a lot of explicit scenes and it's a pretty even switch dynamic, though I'd say Light gives strong bottom energy.

If you're talking about the first pineapple scene in their 4th life (when Light is imprisoned), hilariously I also dropped it after that. I went back some weeks later to revisit it and it ended up being a fantastic read. I didn't care much for the reasoning behind the time loops, it feels tedious at times, but all the Lawlight makes up for it. It has the perfect balance of fluff and smut, imo.

I'll definitely give both of those a read! I skimmed through "Coexistence is Boredom" last night and enjoyed what little I caught. Will definitely be going back to that- it's a shame it was never finished.

Nevermind, I cracked the code.
