I absolutely adore the artstyle of the manga, I loved Ranma 1/2 and this feels like a more modern take on the style with Syundei's individual spin on it; The anime seems better made than some other BL anime adaptations I've seen, but overall ok although I'm already loving the colours and lovely screentone patterns they seem to be using here. For those Anons who've read their fair share of manhua or manhwa, what would you say the differences are between them and manga?
I'm curious myself as to manhua, from what I've seen the characters seem to have this masculine but dignified look to them.

the theme will be around dating an acuter autistic nigga and one of them is japanese and the other is hapa and it takes place in hawaii, most of it will be about a high school romance between them, the story will be from primarily the perspective of the japanese guy, who is a cute black-haired fellow that is either japanese american or an exchange student. he goes to high school in honolulu, o’ahu and is an avid programmer. he has decent number of friends and he’s on the shorter side. one day he stumbles across the (equally) cute hapa guy sitting alone at lunch and sits down to talk to him. initially put off by his perceived rudeness as the hapa guy barely speaks and focuses on his drawing. over time they become closer and get romantic (i don’t have an idea of who is a top or bottom and i want both to be the same height) the hapa guy i think should have a blonde and brown balayage with cute fluffy hair and i think he should be from a cattle ranching family the big island, and he struggles to cope with being in o’ahu because of his retardation. anyways i want it to be a cute story with a good ending and both characters should be twunks and i want the voice actors to have slightly more masculine voices. i also want to emphasize the cultural differences between the two characters in their dress and views, and i want hyper-intense sad and happy moments and whatnot, also i want a sequel when they’re in their early thirties and they’re still twinks but with crows feet or something i think that’s kinda cute

it may be a weird opinion, but the paneling is so different between Japanese and Korean works. Korean stuff is so adapted to phones it makes things easier to read and translate, its also a lot cleaner with more space but the larger impactful scenes/full page scenes are all sideways and awkward compared to Japanese manga which are usually done well. Japanese manga also tends to jam a lot of text into smaller panels which can be a bit annoying.
Korean works tend to have the small head and large bodies compared to Japanese classic yaoi hands kek, but they do have more masculine characters like you mentioned which is refreshing.
Chinese works imo usually have shitty art, some of it is more reminiscent of early 2000s art. Theres usually like 0.01%of great works that are Chinese. I envy them though because like the Spanish speakers, they have tons of passionate translators and more works available in their language.

I just re-read it, and it was even better than I remembered. I like that even though it's the quasi "faceless old man" trope, we still do see glimpses of the dad and know he's not hideous or fat. These pwp stories are a dime a dozen, but I really like that instead of the typical hetero "my dad stole me from my boyfriend," it's "my girlfriend's dad stole me from her?!" The snippet into the future at the end of it is great, and I love the physical change in the uke since he's now fully an adult.

This is a shot in the dark, but I'm trying to recall a manga I read a while back. I would describe it as a slow burn, wholesome slice of life, set mostly in school. They pretty much only got together at the end after a time skip, and one guy confessed his feelings through a written letter since the other was moving out of the city. The time skip/epilogue then revealed that they ended up living together. I couldn't remember the art style much, maybe they had like oval eyes.

Manga usually is more mature, more emotional depth. Of course there are comedy manga too but the dramatic ones are usually better. Also usually revolves around high school or work situations. Manhwa is generally a lot more fixated on college and college drinking parties for some reason. The romance has less depth and nuance in general in manhwa, just very pandering without much bite to it. You'll have manhwa that go on for 70+ chapters and it's very boring tame safey safey stuff where the drama is like "aaah I don't know what gift to get him for anniversary" or "weird creep is stalking uke, seme is badass and stops him!". Not to say there aren't bad manga and good manhwa (I still think Killing Stalking is one of the best written works even if it isn't traditional BL) but in general manga is just better.

My biggest problem with manga though is that it can be too trope-y. Waaaaay too much boring jealousy drama in the middle. Waaaaay too much "I fell on top of him and we fell in love" crap. Manga also almost always has to have the seme be attractive to women and make a point of showing HOW ATTRACTIVE AND AMAZINGLY HOT the seme is too every woman he walks past. Shit is so stupid and cringe and obviously women being unable to find a man attractive unless other women pine after him, even when they're reading about him being with another man. Also hate in Manhwa how every guy is drawn as some weird roblox-esque tiny headed, huge bodied gigachad when Koreans are literally the last people who look like that. Makes it harder to visualize the characters as real people. You pick your poison and hope you find good shit overall

More like it’s just an easy way to demonstrate that a character is considered popular and attractive in universe. There are some manga that do this but with the popular guy being fawned over by other guys but that would require making everyone gay so it’s usually done in comedy/gag manga.
