Everything in modern TM is robots
Everyone kinda hates it, except Nasu
People hate how Nasu wants so badly to write sci fi but every time he writes sci fi its super unpopular, so instead he just turns all mythology into sci fi until he can force people to like it, except instead of liking it people just hate it more

There is no validity to calling Richard "Fake Saber". If a seventh Saber Servant could've been summoned, there was no need for the "pump-priming" setup at all. They would've just had a regular holy grail war.

EX rank NP: servants whose NP overturns the battlefield completely and change the rules more often than just killing their enemy.
A rank NP: servants who violently kill the enemy with their NP. Their NP is their real strength, even if they can fight without it, they decide things with it.
B rank NP: servants whose NP assists the fight but rarely wins it, or the NP is a backup strategy when all else fails.
C rank NP: servants who primarily fight without their NPs, using their NPs as strict trump cards or backup to their main strategy of outskill or overpower the enemy traditionally.

Agility is annoying because it can mean multiple things. A character with high Agility might either be really fast, really agile/dexterous or both. Just because a Servant has high Agility doesn't necessarily mean they're necessarily gonna outspeed everyone in a footrace. In fact, actual AGILity seems to be a more dominant factor in deciding your AGI stat than raw speed sometimes.

Reminder that her knockoff Zabaniya's are recreations not copies. Zealot did her best to create the same overall effect from her people's history even if the method was different. For example her version of slipping past barriers is destroying them all at once and blitzing the enemy (what she did in the police station).
>>
>>
>>
>>285772696
Not a bad take actually, but unfortunately there're people like Karna, Arjuna and Arthur at EX whose NPs are just very big beams.
I used to think the NP stat meant ease of spamming the NP, but reconsidered for the fact that Karna and Arjuna are there.

Beast I:Grand Caster
Beast II:Grand Assassin
Beast III:Grand Berserker? (Beast III is always Mara, and Berserker can't fall for seduction)
Beast IV:Grand Archer
Beast V:Grand Saber? (???)
Beast VI:Grand Rider
Beast VII:Grand Lancer? (Beast VII is always "made by man" while Grand Lancer seems to have "the reach of all mankind")

Counter Forces are not intelligent. They have rules and these rules are absolute. There is no credit system and no contextual exemptions.
He wasn't under official deployment pursuant to the Heroic Spirit Summoning Ritual. A Grand Servant is only allowed to deploy in its Grand Servant container when the world says so. Doing so of his own accord, even to fight a Beast on his own terms, the world can only say "hmm, no, illegal, get out".

Counter Forces are not intelligent, and you have to understand Babylonia was a very unusual situation that involved no less than three Beasts. (Beast II activated because Beast I made a singularity because Beast VII was activating in this timeline) It's not common at all in any world for there to be such a devastating blow against humanity causing the counter force to be so utterly undermined as it was in that moment.

It's probably not about his strength. Herakles is strong, but given the current state of FGO, he'd "only" be one of like two or three dozen top-class Servants. He's the best of the best, sure, but there are like three hundred unique Servants now and the bar's gotten real goddamn low since Fate/stay night.
>>
>>285773528
His God Hand is awful NP thought. While other top-tier servants can do some cool things and mid-tier servants can struggle but still win - Hercules could just die and respawn. He looks even more like a fraud than a strong hero.

I think the main reason neither are Grands is that there is just no reason. Ea already can deal with some Beasts via sheer power and anti-World status. And regular Archer Herc seems to be a match for calamities like Gugalanna so I assume he's in a similar boat.

Most of them aren't "proper" Rulers. The first and most fundamental purpose for Rulers is to act as impartial judges. They exist to enforce the rules, but it's not their job to make those rules and it certainly isn't their job to take sides. Nearly all Rulers end up failing at this point.
>>
>>
>>285774407
He is the most impartial character in all of Fate according to the most recent lore. So much so that Mashu becoming slightly biased causes his shield to reject her since she needs to remain 100% pure to wield it. At all times he's just making objective observations, pretty much.
>>
>>
>>285774517
Sort of. Most things that we might consider "rules" aren't true rules, but in the case of Holy Grail Wars, Rulers exist as sort of a contingency to prevent things from going out of control. They normally only surface when the conditions for a Great Holy Grail War occur (i.e., rather than a seven-way battle royale, it instead becomes a 7v7 war between two sides).
>>
>>285774526
>So much so that Mashu becoming slightly biased causes his shield to reject her since she needs to remain 100% pure to wield it.
Is this like the case with Shirou when his mind has to be extremely opened so he can use UBW?
>>
>>285774517
Yeah, that's why everyone is always trying to game the rules of the HGW. Rulers were created as judges for these phenomena, so the rules aren't actually those imposed by humans, but the rules of the Human Order.

Hilarious how the CF was to keep making up bullshit when it comes to Grand Assassin since First Hassan bailed out. Tezco is filling in just because he fits the old man and mountain part and Azrael is just FH but kinda worse.
The only skilled worker left and the boss can't find someone as qualified
>>
>>
>>
>>285774578
Kinda. Mashu's case happened when someone explained to her that she was starting to value some lives over others, and she had an identity crisis over that, since what allows one to use Galahad's shield is the desire to protect all life indiscriminately. Mashu was starting to want to protect some people more than others which made her out of sync with Galahad and caused her to lose the Shielder class. Mashu was originally raised by FGO's big bad to be as pure as Galahad so she could use his powers, so she was devoid of the emotional context that caused her to value some above others. Galahad was born like that naturally though, from having the nature of an angel.
>>
It's always weird how just because the rules get broken, people assume there are no rules. Of course there are rules. If there weren't any, then what's there to break in the first place? If I'm playing basketball and violently tackle the opposing side, does that somehow mean it's not against the rules to do just that?

FSN pretty much said no matter what answer Shirou reaches he'll develop his reality marble, as long as he understands himself fully. Each RM will be entirely different based on his answer. All it requires is understanding of the self
In Prisma UBW looks like a frozen world. This is because his heart grew cold, his world froze over after Sakura was gone. He never became a hero, he never made the promise for Kiritsugu, but he still wished to save miyu even if he had to keep killing.
On UBW it looks the same as archers except with a clear sky
In HF it looks like a wasteland with nothing but clear sky, the gears and swords are gone. The symbolism for this should be obvious when you understand that for archer each of the swords in the ground is supposed to represent gravestones, archer is weighed down by UBW as a reminder of his sins, while for HF Shirou he's removed the weight and only sees clear skies. Although you only see HF UBW for one scene right before he fights black berserker

Useful doesn't mean that you will actually whale for it. Most male banners usually earn a lot lower than female banners, but on big gachas it will still reach like 10-15+ million usd per banner - assuming you actually pander to the paying customer. Fate still pays lip service and can rarely introduces bulky looking male characters and whatnot. But the 3D gachas that cost a lot more money than Fate to maintain have given up on all pretence - they basically don't release male characters at all and any they release are slim, feminine and handsome looking males for girls.

Cursed Arm is much worse, to my dismay. He's supposed to slit your throat with daggers or fire off Zabaniya at the exact right moment, but because Zouken is retarded and summons him as a retard he jobs to everyone in the cast.
>>
>>
>>
>>285778565
Nah that's stupid. There's absolutely no reason for Cain to have those eyes. Just because he was the first killer doesn't mean he has an innate understanding of death. He just murdered his brother in a fit of rage. He didn't truly understand what death was, and after God cursed him with immortality, he would have an even harder time understanding it.
Also, Grands are chosen to counter Beasts. What Beast is old "I hit him in with a rock!" supposed to counter? Besides, in the context of Type-Moon, he probably isn't actually the first killer. Texture nonsense means that there are like two dozen other figures who have just as much claim to the title as him, if not greater. Remember, Utnapishtim explicitly predates Noah, which thus places Sumerian mythology at an "earlier" point than Christianity.
>>
>>285778171
Prelati believed that Jeanne would be summoned, and I wouldn't be surprised if she planned for it. Though her plans have gone awry, as is evidenced with Saber (much to her amusement). As for the Ruler, Karl would be fun. I hate that he's been relegated to being on the moon

I think sane Herakles would sell. Still wouldn't be Archer though. Now that Alcides exists, Archer Herc is basically a dead meme. Even if Alcides is added as an Avenger, he'll still be mostly using a bow. Also, there's way too much competition among Archers. Between Orion and Ciel, the single target buster Archer meta is full and has no more room for anyone else. But the single-target buster Saber meta still shockingly has room for growth. His only real competition is Musashi, who's dated as fuck and wasn't even that good to begin with.
>>
>>285778956
It's fucking Heracles, he'd sell easily. Especially if they actually put in effort for once and gave him a fun event. Everyone loves a good tragedy, and his life was depressing as fuck.
If any amount of literal who's they put in every year can sell, then he can sell too. His design is objectively good, and Morii is a well-liked Artist.

Takeuchi can cook with the right amount of time, motivationand a good colorist,he usually can't be bothered to because he has too much on his plate with all the art he has to draw + everything he has to supervise as one of the lead directors and producers of the company + keeping nasu's retarded ideas in check.

>>285779206
>what many servants in the verse consider a true "hero"
This is part of the problem
>Grand Lancer calls him the Greatest Hero and copies a NP from him
>Random shinsengumi sees zerk Herc and immediately starts saying he must be a master swordsman
>Everyone on the Argo creams themselves when talking about him
>Fucking Musashi huffs and puffs fighting mobs in Olympus and says Herc would deal with these easily
>apparently the Twelve Labours can't even compare to his deeds in the Gigantomachia
>etc.
The level of hype has been raised to such a degree that he can't appear as an antagonist, because they'd have to make him retarded to lose. And the only way he can appear as a protagonist is if you asspull a threat only he could handle, while trying to keep the balance in powerlevels overall.

Intoxicated Smoke could easily solo a HGW. Only heroes with incredibly esoteric abilities (able to destroy even smoke) could still attack her and even then she's probably going to eliminate every Master with relative ease in the chaos.
It's kind of weird for Nasu to just put one of the Hassans at "oh yeah 1 week invincibility" and think that's fair.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>285779252
I always think that all of this is just Nasu trying to make Herc not look like a total fucking loser. Hercules was created as antagonist with GodHand in mind, meaning that all the key feature of this character is to die several time in the story. And everything Herc can do is just constatnly die and ressurect. That's not actually cool since every fucking hero can at least achieve something before they die. So Nasu is trying to tell it like "yeah, he died like a bitch once again, BUT did you know how awesome he is?" - it's still lame. But I guess that's why fans want to see Herc as successful hero at least once.
>>
>>
>>285779350
The point is that Herc seems to want to just have fun in a Grail War. He thinks about it being fun ''passing the time'' if he were sane and fought with EMIYA. He's already succeeded at everything in life, the GW for him is genuinely just a tournament to fuck around in.

The can simply do exactly like they did with Gil. The only reason they made Gilgamesh the Grand Archer(on top of from his popularity) is because the powercreep has gotten so bad that nobody buys when Gilgamesh calls himself the strongest hero. So they made him the grand archer be his "serious" version to upgrade him to the current servant powercreep and they still implied he is """holding back""" so in another 10 year or so they can release another serious gil to upgrade him again

Prelati has to fool the world with every single use of his noble phantasm, and according to his own words, using illusions to patch up damage after the fact is a really haphazard notion, because it means once the world goes back to correction then Prelati will basically explode.
Prelati's magical energy pool has never been clarified (Francesca is a demigoddess in the modern era but also has never shown any formidable abilities beyond reviving constantly) so I don't know if he can use Grand Illusion 7 times before retreating, and we do know Cu can use Gae Bolg 7 times in one fight.
Also I don't see how Prelati actually wins a fight, considering Cu is better at magecraft than he is and perfectly capable of disengaging any time it looks bad. Prelati might survive Cu, but never really win.

>Alcides is better than sane Herk when fighting Gil due to Enkidu and the Pelt existing. But Gil is still stronger.
Gil has never once used Enkidu against an opponent still in the fight. The Pelt is a side-grade from God Hand.
We know Nine Lives matched 90% of Gate of Babylon blow for blow, and we know that Alcides' version of Nine Lives is fundamentally weaker than Herc's. So the proper version could easily stalemate until both are forced to draw their trump cards.
>>
>>285779434
Yes, Gil and Enkidu are the kinds that she would still have to fear. She's not truly invincible, and I'm sure there's others who can correct the world by some means or forcibly cancel her Zabaniya. But definitely top 1% of servants.

>4v1 isn't exactly fair
when you fight against a guy who can pull out anything with no restriction even including spatial location, that 4vs1 doe seem fair.
It's just that the continuous wanking make it look like UBW Gilgamesh fight at 0.0001% power.
>>
>>285779436
It's not even really about the power level, Gil is a popular character and he was playable in several games without any problem. They expanded his character in CCC so he wouldn't been seen as a mere antagonist anymore. But Hercules was always just Berserker from F/SN, a very simple brute with very simple story. And to be fair he never was really that popular in comparison to the other characters,.it's just that the original mythical hero is very well-known and respected.
>>
>>
>>285779471
The matchup was about non-retarded Gil. Why would he hold back and not using Enkidu against sane Herk?
The Pelt literally blocks Gil's GoB spam which sane Herk definitely can't do.

He is incredibly powerful, he can do almost anything with his clay, even regenerate from near-total annihilation, but he has a critical weakness in that his clay is harder to replenish than the mana of regular Servants. He needs rest to convert mana from his Master into new clay, so he can end up exhausted of his main combat resource if the battle becomes too prolonged. This is apparently not a weakness he had in life, but Servant containers can't replicate his original Authority as the Spear of Heaven that allowed him to use the soil of the planet itself as clay.

That's just Gil though. He reacts to the nature of humans around him and ended up getting a little too absorbed into the whole fake vs. original clash because Shirou's autism bled into Gil's attitude. Even Flat isn't "stronger" than a servant, just wily enough to surprise servants when it counts. His spells will still not hurt them without exceptional circumstance (like being linked directly to their spirit core).
The demon under his flesh, though, that's another story.

I think it's actually kino where the only version of Shirou that doesn't just copy things is the Muramasa version where he forges all the swords in UBW and creates a single one and considering he's using the same garments when he was in the HF route it feels like Muramasa is his endgame

While true usually, the Camelot movies indirectly depict it's really good in long fights too.
All of the people fighting there lose their finesses and fight more and more brutal over time, to the point they start beating each other with stones or strangling them by the end of their battles as they were disarmed of their swords.
Saber Lancelot is the only one that consistently keeps his skills ''without decay''. Enough that at one point when he too loses Arondight he instead grabs a halberd and rides a horse (likely a display of Knight of Owner) instead.
My point is that EaM essentially helps you in the long run like a battle that lasts hours or multiple battles in sequence without proper rest. And this advantage is atually lost in Berserker classes that have high mana consumption.

NTA but I think he means more that Divinity gives you some sets of buffs. Though it kind of depends when it's more than just some measure of power.
Divinity in general somewhat bypasses ''Purge Defense'' effects per Fate/EXTRA, Merlin also implies Divinity helps against protections by divine source in Babylonia, which is reinforced here and there in the franchise like Suzuka claiming if Raikou amped her Divinity via Ushi Gozen the match could have turned out differently.
Nasu never bothered to explain how that behaves. More often than not, it's more that some skills and NPs have flaws against Divinity (Achilles for example) rather than Divinity giving you a noteworthy buff. Though since Alcides mentions once a while that X NP would need a blessing to work to the fullest, it could be that the same applies to Nine Lives.
In Lostbelt 2 we learn just like how Balmung doesn't display proper traits under Sieg even in Siegfried's soul, Bolverk Gram also doesn't display it's true power on Surtr with Sigurd's because it lacks Odin's Blessings so in Sigurd's case this kind of thing matters.
It could be something similar applies to Heracles. Though it isn't like we know in full what Alcides meant.

Pretty much.
Hell even back in FSN he didn't care that much. If he did he would have made the Pelt the big problem for people to overcome instead of lazily giving him 12 lives.
Alcides can have a note every single time he acts that says ''X NP would be better if he hadn't refused the gods'' and truly, most of them aren't that impressive, but since he only has Chiron's 1-Up every single wound matters here.
>>
>>
>>285780632

I remember that back in rough prototype draft berserker's NP would be 12 "wins" instead of lives. And that would clash with some sort of Gilgamesh's ability to stay alive, and the end result would be a paradoxal situation when Hercules "won" 12 times, but died, whilce Gilgames "lost" 12 times, but survived. It's sounds cool on paper, but probably Nasu couldn't work out after so many changes..

They delve more on Hephaestion's (Faker) and Ptolomaeus' events that not everyone is answering the call, just a really big majority.
Hephaestion's reason for not answering the call and why Waver didn't recognize her is because some of those fuckers that went around plotting and killing each other ARE answering the call and she doesn't want to be anywhere near them, while Ptolomaeus weaponized everything he could to murder the opposition and seize control, so while he does answer the call he isn't always sure if he is doing the right thing since he knows he can pretty brutal to even old friends.
>>
>>285781155

I can tell some of these people never read anything from history or mythology ever because like 80%+ of those stories end with the hero dying and/or failing in the end. But that isn't the thing that defines them. No Ceasar is still allowed to be called a great leader even if his life ended by him being stabbed to death by literally EVERYONE in the senate. No Jeanne doesn't need a NP where she gets burned to death on a stake.

The same way Richard is able to call for his literal murderer (who got fucking flayed alive mind you), or how Hyppo doesn't really care about Herc killing her, I think death gives a lot of perspective to the people called. They also say that Samson, despite his strength, is always holding back because he doesn't want to fight, preferring to be more of a shield, and even so, Musashi claims that even in his restrained state, he is the strongest servant in the war. Takeru barely managed to calm him down in the first few fights, not defeat him. It is Takeru himself who tells Iori that he would need to use his NP to really have a chance at defeating him. The only way to defeat him is for a woman he trusts to cut his hair.

In a way, Iskandar's army unironically got tired of winning, because each win pushed them to continue and never enjoy their spoils properly. so when they finally hit a roadblock in India they immediately went: "oh well, time to go home now!"
Similar thing happened with Genghis. They kept winning so hard and so fast that they created an unimaginably large empire that was simply impossible to keep together, so it simply couldn't remain whole beyond its ruler's lifetime. The Helenistic period and Mongol empires are both a literal case of suffering from success.
I'm not sure if I can say Europe had a similar example. Napoleon got close but he actually got his ass handed to him in life and saw it all fall apart, same with Hitler. The Roman Empire was the result of multiple generations' worth of campaigns... Charlemagne, maybe?

The frankish empire was also a product across generations and already had troubles keeping themselves together before Charlemagne's reign. He himself wrote a whole charter to split his empire after his death.
If anything he ensured their lasting influence by "restoring" Western Rome and establishing Catholic Europe, which could be called his empire in a sense.
>>
>>285783293
The coma isn't what does it. Death is. Both Shikis died and then failed to die completely. Ryougi half-died, one half of her doubled-soul slipping into the abyss. Tohno flat out died with a claw through his heart, only to be forcibly injected with Akiha's life and pinned on the boundary of life and death.
Tsubaki hasn't died. She's only forged a contract with Death whilst in a state of endless dream. Though, obviously, there's still a chance for it to happen. Jester's last command spell might manage it.
Actually, if I want to write a sentence of fanfiction, I can see events leading exactly that way.Zealot crushes her heart in accordance with the command spell, but Tsubaki wishes not to die. Pale Rider and Ayaka mix together as mutual wish-granters, bringing Tsubaki back to life with MEoDP.It's not outside the bounds of possibility.

B++ isn't bad at all, it's better than an A. The flaw in Jason's NP is that not all heroes respond to his call, and they will only do so depending on whether Jason's intentions are good. Jason is usually selfish and seeks his own benefit, so only about 3 to 4 servants come to him. It also doesn't help that he was summoned as a knight. I think a Rider version of him would use a stronger variant of that NP.

>The immunity made it so nearly no one could beat him
You just listed 2 out of 7 Servants in FSN. And Altria can also nuke him to death with Excalibur when even the inferior Caliburn took 7 lives in one strike. 3 out of 7 characters could beat him handily IN HIS DEBUT.

>Then it would've been at B and couldn't have damaged Heracles.
Wrong. Caliburn reaches A+ in adult Saber's hands, "When the owner turns into a proper, perfected king".
The Excaliblast tier attack is a True Name release, not the A+ conditional.

Have you even read the VN? The narration literally states it's imitating Excalibur and 'The Sword of Promised Victory' plays when you kill Herc. You're sperging out over True Name release which isn't even consistent between NP's that require it for optimal release

>Gram
A rank trash NP whose Anti Fortress A+ rank is only achieved conditionally by the user, rather than actually being Anti Fortress by pure firepower. Saddest part? Siegfried's Gram is outright stated stronger than the original that Gilgameme owns, still A+ garbage.

That's Bolverkr Gram which was broken and reforged. In Fate you can never truly repair something stronger than it originally was, so it's inferior. The original Gram is still an A++ demonic blade, but only in Sigmund's hands.
