I think at one point Aiwass was going to be the creators of the Trancendents. Anna's backstory in GT7 explicitly states that the Angel remade her into a "vessel" and she was a complete failure before that. It's only GT10 that they claim she did it by herself. That origin would matched up pretty well with what happened to Alice. Aiwass could have even fit the role of "teacher of Crowley". However GT9 and GT10 paint him much more benevolent then his previous neutral attitude. So crediting with transforming some woman and child god might be off. Just like how Frillsand turned into a vengeful ghost in GT3 but by GT5 Kamachi decided she wouldn't have put vengeance above the children.

I think this is key here. Alice didn't study at all as far as we know. She was engineered to be Alice. Anna was stated to become a transcendent or known as one after meeting Aiwass and gaining suitable power. So the original theory of secret chiefs being involved holds water since the three steps appear to be have adequate knowledge, transform yourself, and have the necessary power. Though 2 and 3 might be the same. The outlier here is CRC because he did it without making contact with a 3rd party apparently. Though I don't remember him ever being called an irregular. Or a transcendent at all now that I think about it.

Transcendents are effectively a gacha roster of fake as fuck mageslut hags some of whom are also very cute, all are decently powerful mages who claim some wild shit, in reality there are only 2 real and known transcendents. Alice & Anna both are reasonably high tier and pretty much untouchable by anyone below them just as a side effect of their baseline ability going at full throttle, immortal. As in only killable by a specific counter, otherwise you can lop their heads off they won't even notice. Inhuman biology.
Anna was the villain who took over GT and held it by the balls for about 10~ volumes with occasional interruptions and ultimately is the one to blame for everything bad that happened in GT so far all despite getting punched on her second volume. Pissed on Aleister's corpse, took Touma's first kiss, slowly and brutally crushed Mikoto, shat into Accel's coffee and forced him to drink it, generally was a complete menace to society. Touma not only lost his life as a consequence of saving Anna, he broke his no kill/no bullshit rule trying to save her.
Alice is a fucked up child with pretty horrifying abilities, she is the leader of gacha slut brigade, despite being a major Touma simp from the start was placed into antagonist position because of Touma's rejection (prodded on by Anna's schemes), as a result of that fallout Touma uses her as a suicide weapon of choice. She rejoins Touma's side after he crawls his ass from hell.

They feel kinda squeezed in. There has been a lot of talk of walking back but we have been side stepping biggest one, Anna before their introduction. She was straight shown to be stronger than Aiwass. Aleister sends a letter to Tsuchi describing Anna as someone who has crossed the abyss and how she would overturn the world outside of AC and then close in on AC. Othinus when seeing Anna for the first time declares her as the real deal and said she is a being similar to a magic god but rather took the alternate option to become......before getting interrupted. She has this multiple part plan which involved personally bothering all three of the MCs. She faked losing to Touma and was actually holding back. She exposed the existence of magic to the world and made accessible to everyone including espers via a company called R&C. Then GT4/5 happened and it was revealed that all of the above was pointless. R&C she just did that for fun. That Abyss crossing and Name the Othinus was going to speak? Forgotten. Plan with the MC's? Her real plan was trackdown and reveal the cabal that all the transcendents are in and find its weakness. Somehow R&C helped with that.
TLDR it feels like tossed out his original idea and placed these guys instead and had to spend several volumes sorting them out so that he could finish Anna's plot and then pivot back and finish theirs.
