I see all these people claiming to earn like $80k+ CAD (60K USD equivalent) but I never see how one even gets these jobs. I recently as fired from my job where I was paid $65k CAD. I was super depressed first but I'm thinking I may be able to get an ultra paying job like these people. I studied at Stanford, my dad was an MP and one of my American family members is a former former Congressmen... but it seems like "connections" and prestigious degrees don't mean shit anymore. Everytime you try to tap your network it's "oh sorry we're not hiring right now".

Like what are the actual things I could do right now to get an 80k a year job???

Well, you're farther ahead than most people could ever hope for. You just gotta play your cards right and try to leverage your family's political pedigree. Don't be afraid to ask for your family for help, if they love you, (it seems they do) things are going to be fine.

Don't worry about salaries, if you're financially secure it's all good. Focus on getting social capital, being in the right places and having the right friends.

You need a high salary to afford shit.

I worked minimum wage a lot and you couldn't even afford food and would often have to go to food and water.

>right places right times
>right friends

This is such a meme tho. All my friends who are top tier bankers can't do shit.

If you think your family won't help and neither will the acquaintances, then your focus should be becoming competitive in the job market. You've went to Stanford so you know what to do.

Without sponsor(s) (i.e: family, partners, rich people's funds) you're on the level playing field with the average folk.

Are you ESL or something? No one says "studied at Stanford" unless they're trying to hide something, they'd say "I got my bachelors in econ from Stanford" or whatever. Did you drop out or did you do the shittiest degree known to man?

As far as getting a good job, a lot of these are in tech and you have to live near a big-ish city (so Vancouver or Toronto or whatever), and you're 80K is effectively 50K after over-paying for every aspect of life.

Ask your parents dawg, how are you this incompetent?

Heaven forbid that you actually think about what you can do to be WORTH a high salary. No, you just want some gimmick that hasn't been found by any other lazy parasites.

You're talking to a coworker at your prestigious chad-job and he says "I went to Yale" and you're like, okay he's just downplaying his accomplishments to be polite, no prob

You're on an anonymous image board and someone's asking for career advice and says "I studied at Stanford", whelp there's a difference there, buckaroo

It's kinda funny that these high-up, giddy mommy-daddy 'pompy' people undertake really expensive courses at fancy universities, yet are unable to accept that they aren't better off than the lazy plumber who just fixed their shower last week.

All they have is this: 'I studied at Harvard' and 'I went to Yale.' Please worship me and my intellectual highness. (Also, give me a job because I deserve it.)

Come on man... Show some humility.

There is one and only one reason why ANY employer hires ANYONE - to help the company make money. Be someone who helps the company make lots of money and you'll be paid lots.
