There's tons of chink versions for like 40 bucks nowadays.
And chink scales for like 10.
Don't buy a Fellow Stagg Ive had one for years and it sucks.

>>21856666
Mine still works but it stops boiling on occasion.
There's also plenty of stories online about the dial not working.
>>
>>21856442
I'm not a coffee guy. But I've been baking things lately, and my old cheap scale doesn't measure with accuracy less than a gram. What sort of accuracy do coffee enthusiasts need to measure their liquid or coffee, and what do coffee autists need?

Does anyone have a good recommendation of a brand? Like, even for partitioning your drugs, idrc, I'm just curious
>>
>>21856792
They use it for espresso, and want instant readouts, they literally can't work an espresso machine without weighing the fucking extraction as it's happening, it's absurd.

A stovetop stainless steel gooseneck kettle is like $20, or $60 if it has to be a fancy name brand.
>>
>>21857661
you cant get shit for $60 but i found a chinkshit rebrand under a name i've at least seen with temperature control and the ability to hold temperature for like $40 (usd is so cheap right now)
stovetop ones are like $30 for hario even though they're worth maybe $10
>>
>>21856958
How could they work any differently?
>>
>>21856951
no shit, retard
>>
>>21856442
You can get a 20 dollar electric kettle and just eyeball it with spoons.
>>
>>21857713
i have an electric kettle it just doesnt have a gooseneck
>>

Those are for schmucks anyways, probably a measuring cup would achieve the same thing.

i'm very self conscious of how autistic i appear to my roommates especially since i dont talk to them but i like to imagine theyre jealous of my cooking skills and it makes me feel better

The $8 kettle works just as well. $12 if you want a nicer handle.
>>
>>21856792
I just go with a cheap ass scale and a Hamilton beach kettle i got for 50 bucks. I just want to make sure my ratios are correct enough
>>
You don't need an electric kettle you faggots. Do you not have a stove? You can get a stainless steel gooseneck kettle for $30, most with the thermometer integrated into the lid
>>
>>21856519
Get a italian one
>>21856442

>>

i boughted a solid looking chink rebranded under common brand here hopefully they QCd it properly
gonna report tomorrow
>>21858943
italian ones leach aluminium into your food so chinese is probably better
>>
>>21856442
coffee is only as good as your grind quality, spend good money on the grinder and cheap out on everything else, including the espresso machine, nothing else matters

what grinder do you have
>>

You're not including the grinder, which is the expensive part

My covfefe gear:
>$100 electric gooseneck kettle
>$10 drug dealer scale
>$400 coffee grinder
>$800 espresso machine
This is NOT a hobby for poorfags

>>21861097
mine was $50 and you can seethe about it

Something like this was my first scale I used. It was less than 10 buck a few years ago. Lido hand grinder, Flair Signature manual espresso machine, and a Hario stove top gooseneck kettle. First thing I recommend upgrading is to an electric grinder. Also, have a V60 for when I'm lazy.

waste of money under the $750 range
Just get a $250 hand grinder, it performs beetter.
>>
>>21862410
what is the cheapest grinder you'd recommend
if that's below $100 what would you recommend around $100
>>
>>21862466
at $100 on the dot get a K6
>>
>>21862478
not sure how much sense would it make to go from $60 c3s to $100

>>21862410
Would you consider the Niche Zero a poor performer for espresso? Under 700. I've had it for five years, and just realized how their price has increased. It was priced around 500 when I bought it.

>>21862132
Bad take
>>
>>21862523
I hand grind my espresso with a mortar and pestle. it's the only way to truly get it fine enough for 20 bar pressure
>>
>>21862503
yeah i didn't check the up to date pricing
you could grab a c5 for $90
>>
>>21862523
>Would you consider the Niche Zero a poor performer for espresso?
Niche Zero was the king when it came out... like a decade ago.
DF64 is both cheaper and better
>>
>>21862634
>20 bar pressure
we're brewing at 5 bar now
>>
>>21862645
I bought it 5 years ago, so there’s that. I am looking for a small hand grinder for pour over at work. I haven’t bought coffee gear for a while now, so I’m completely out of the loop regarding what’s good.
>>
>>21862943
>I am looking for a small hand grinder for pour over at work.
youre gonna look like the worst faggot dont do this
>>
>>21863241
I’m usually by myself. Coworkers already have a few electric kettles because they make tea, one guy has an aeropress, one has a French press. We’re dispatching through the evening, night, morning. A V60 over a diner mug won’t catch much attention.
>>
>>21862943
>>21863445
If I wanted to brew a cup on my lunch break, I would just grind at home in the morning and bring it in. I'd bring my own brewing water in before worrying about grinding just before brewing.

>chinkshit rebrand
>$35-$45 depending on the brand
>900-1100w
>gooseneck works fine
>0.9L
>kinda slow
>40-100C iter 5C + 91/93/96 presets for coffee
>havent measured accuracy with my meat thermometer yet
>worst encoder i've ever felt
>base is cheap feeling
>doesnt sit firmy on the base unless theres water in it (i guess that to avoid frying it)

for $35 9/10, might get another rebrand that looks like it has better buttons
someone repost in on reddit or something so other people see it

$10 kettle
$3 pour over
$80 grinder
$free mug
$18 coffee pound
$0.04 electricity
$free water
$1,600 countertop

Yes it's pricy but why do you think car salesman sniff cocaine? the additional productivity covers the cost... until you go full junkie mode with the scales and pure columbian BS.
unless you have total control over your life I wouldn't touch it

i paid more and i our wages are like half of that of what you get i dont really understand how mutts complain about price of anything that's not healthcare or housing

you paid more for what, the kettle? Mine's nothing special it doesn't have the thermometer or goose neck. Also the pour over is made of shitty recycled plastic.
