Deli meats.
>>
>>21857015
Patasium nitrite
Patasium nitrate
Also called pink salts.
These are used in ground cured meats, some whole meats don't need it.
It's very low level and not dangerous to humans. It's California BS.

Nobody pretends that an excess of anything is good for you.

But these so-called studies have been happening for decades and they are often skewed towards the required findings by University sponsors.

Most deli meats are Pork based . . . .makes you think?
>>
>>21857015
Sunlight is a class 1 carcinogen, too. So what?
>>
>>21857410
We need sunlight though, we don’t need deli meats. It’s not remotely comparable
>>
>>21857419
>It’s not remotely comparable
They're both in the same class of carcinogen, of course they are comparable. Need has nothing to do with it. And the risk of getting cancer from either is so small it's not worth be paranoid about it.
>>
>>21857433
Being aware of and mitigating risk doesn't mean you're paranoid.
>>
get me salami on rye, lettuce, mayo, mushtard
>>
>>21857440
When the risk is negligible yet you make it out to be life-threatening it does
>>
>>21857446
You're exposed to a lot of "negligible" risks every day. It adds up.

Were deli meats always more expensive than chicken breasts and ground beef? Back in the mid 2010's i just didnt really look at prices because stuff was within my budget. Now im like aw jeez dude $10/lb of deli turkey what the fuck

>>
>>21857394
You sure seem like you know what you are talking about, naming the wrong substance and all.
>>
>>21857475
I didn't say that. I just said being aware of risk and mitigating it isn't paranoia. Still having it but less often is mitigating risk somewhat. Saying it doesn't matter isn't the right response because people will get sick and die from it even if it's a small number, so it does matter.

My go-to sandwich stacks ham, smoked turkey, pepperoni, provolone, red onions, green peppers, and shredded lettuce, all on a lightly toasted hero roll with a thin scrape of mayo and some pepper & oregano.
You really can't go wrong with classic choices like these.

Deli meats. Not planning to live forever wtf.

Class 1 carcinogen just means it is pretty certain to be carcinogenic. Now HOW carcinogenic it is. The category includes wood dust and sunlight btw. just for comparison.
>>
>>21857015
I don't make sandwich, but my bread and butter is topped with cold pork roast. Picture similar, the one from the local butcher has a hot pepper based marinade.
>>
Red meat’s rep has been taken through gutter these past few years. It’s probably the most demonized food now even more than fucking refined sugar. Only poultry and seafood are the socially acceptable meats and because of retarded logic, seafood isn’t even considered meat
>>
>>21859450
Red meat is one of the most ressource intensive common foods, of course the environmentalists hate it.
>>
>>21859515
>resource intensive
Communist bullshit.
You literally put cows outside, let them eat wild grass, and then come back for them at the end of the year.
>>
>>21859515
Spewing this nonsense over and over doesn't make it any more true.
These "natural ressources" include nonsense like counting the water that rains on the meadow the cow is standing on as getting "used" and added to their "footprint".
Absolutely hilarious.
>>
i’m putting deli meats from animals that chain smoked and worked the night shift

They eat grass and then fertilize it for you. It doesn't take a lot of resources unless you're making some retarded beef factory where you have thousands of cows in warehouses being fed corn in a cage all their life.

None. 100% part of the Mediterranean diet. Eaten before or during every meal, every day. Count yourself lucky.
>>
>>21859530
>>21859533
>>21860760
If you think that all or even the majority of beef that is eaten in the world is grass-fed, you are probably clinically retarded. Most it is fed with farmed corn and farmed soy. Extreme amounts of it. Pic related. For pork the ratio of free ranging to farm feed is even worse, though feed conversion is better.
Mind you, the vast majority of people consoom as much as they can afford. Your average environmentalist isn't at all averse to some vacation in australia if he can afford it. Singling out isolated cases of consumption like red meat is nonsense. I'm just pointing out the facts here, and the reason red meat is denigrated.

>>
>>21861043
All beef where I live is grass fed. All the dairy where I live is grass fed. They only get grain while they're being milked or slaughtered.
>>
>>21861043
>If you think that all or even the majority of beef that is eaten in the world is grass-fed, you are probably clinically retarded
I'm aware of that, but that doesn't mean that raising beef is resource intensive, it just means that our kiked out economic model that ensures a select group of corporations can control the food supply is resource intensive and that we need to fight for pasture raised grass fed beef from small local farms instead of corn fed globohomo factory cows.
>>
>>21861167
>and that we need to fight for pasture raised grass fed beef
it's available in pretty much any grocery store. it just costs more, usually. most people don't want to pay more for food regardless of the reasons why.
>>
>>21861043

Wow, so a cow converts 32 kg of for human indegestible material into a kg of delicious nutritious meat.
Amazing use of ressources.
ANd yes, beef IS grass (or grass/plant product) fed! That is guaranteed by their bodily requirements. Cows need to be fed grass/hay/silage or other cellulose material. Otherwise they DIE. You CAN'T feed a cow more than a very small amount of "power food" such as grains, by far the majority MUST be those for humans useless waste products, often from oil plants.
When harvesting rapeseed you bring the harvest into the oil mill, extract the like 15% of oil in the plant - and the remaining parts? Those oil press cakes go to the cows as food.
This simple fact about their anatomy always shows how utterly retarded those graphs always are.
If anything the graph has one message: Eat more beef instead of pork. Pigs are omnivores, so THEY can be fed with food that would also be human-consumable, which in varying amounts happens. Highly depends, is it human-grade grain or those animal feed grains that are only grown where the better grain would not grow?
HUman grade grains are usually sold for human use because they get a higher price, animal food prices are laughable in comparison.

Nitrosamines are formed from nitrite and vit c turns nitrite back to nitrate. Look it up. Eat your vegetables.

All my sandwiches lately have been lard on slices and a fresh cabbage coleslaw between the bread. I eat dried meat on the side
