holy sheet. I honestly never saw them doing this
>>
that sucks, honestly loved their chips
>>
I never like seeing US companies go under, nor legal Americans lose their jobs, but fuck kettle chips. One of the worst trends to come out of the 90s and I wish it stayed there.
>>
>>21859380
>90s
The company started in 1980. Cape Cod chips are delicious.

>When a company whose entire identity is tied to this state decides it no longer makes economic sense to operate here, that should set off alarm bells
Then we should probably look at what is being taught in business schools.
>>
>costing 49 jobs

it really takes less than 50 people to run a factory like this?
>>
https://www.thecampbellscompany.com/newsroom/press-releases/campbells-to-consolidate-potato-chip-production-as-part-of-ongoing-snacks-network-optimization-strategy/
>Today, the Hyannis plant produces only 4% of the total annual volume of Cape Cod chips
so 96% of cape cod chips were already produced at other factories, this was just some legacy shit that probably supplied a handful of grocery stores in the immediate area
>>
>>21859404
Yes. The industrial revolution was pretty crazy bro.
>>
My grandparents lived in Yarmouth when I was a kid and we would always go to get a tour of the factory whenever we visited in the summer, it was such a fun experience.

Big corporations and private equity and shareholder value ruining everything great about our society per usual.
>>
>>21859380
Kettle chips are great go fuck yourself
>>
>>21859404
Once the machines of the production line stand not much personnel required to operate them.
>>
>>21859350
The brand was sold to a few years ago they havent made chips there in a while. It was just a tourist place to go on shitty beach days
>>
>>21859517
That's a shame, I think it would do wonders for brand awareness if there were more locations to do factory tours and stuff.
>>
>>21859546
Too much liability after the wonka settlements
>>
>NUMBER MUST GO UP!
>>
>>21859546
When you tour the Cape Cod factory you get one hot chip fresh off the line.
>>
>>21859404
they want to run it for cheaper with 20 indians instead
>>
>>21859404
That was their corporate headquarters as well as a factory.
>>
>>21859350
Dang...I'm gonna miss their sweet spicy jalapeno.
>>
>>21859902
Theyll still be made, thats just the original factory.
>>
>>21859408
So it's another American plant closing so the jeets can make it overseas for fractions of a penny with their feet and dirty water
>>
>>21860061
you are actually fucking retarded
they are being made in pennsylvania like they have been for the last twenty fucking years

retard
>>
>>21859350
I hope the company has to eat tariffs now.
>>
>>21859380
They're moving to Charlotte, North Carolina.
>>
>>21860604
In a decade they'll play RI, Mass and NH against each other to "bring the Cape Cod Chips back to New England" and get a really plush tax agreement with a state in New England that lets them make the chips for free and run an ad campaign about being New England's original.
>>
Nobody. NOBODY ITT has killed enough private equity employees today. Including me. They will keep winning until Mars is only for the rich and Earth is nigh uninhabitable.
>>
>>21860758
Put them next to ocean spray and make kettlecranz
>>
>>21860758
Realistically speaking you cant run a logistics network that large out of cape cod. Best you can get is wareham or somewhere on the other side of the bridges.
>>
This is one of those genuine Massachusetts experiences that will be gone forever. Walking through the factory and getting the free bag of chips at the end then heading to a beach or wherever else on the cape….absolute times
>>
>>21859350
LOL! GET FUCKED EAST COASTARDS!

>>
This is a choice, Brinwood Partners and later Lance did this same shit with Stella Doro in the Bronx. Fuck these corporations. They buy, they gut, they consolidate and they extract.

What's with all the /r/latestagecapitalism posters in this thread?
>>
>>21860917
you mean, regular people?
>>
>>21860917
Do you mean to say you're enjoying the enshittification of everything?
>>
>>21860895
Absolutely this. Fuck tourists.
>>
>>21862366
>enshittification
What is this nonsense word and why do I keep seeing it used by commies? It's ugly and sounds ridiculous nich like commies themselves.
>>
*in between slurps of private equity cock*

Herrs make better chips
>>
so, in summary
campbells purchased cape cod chips in the 80s and started producing their chips in factories across the country
the small factory left in NH employed 50ish people and supplied a few local stores
according to campbells over 90% of cape cod chips were produced in their existing massive facilities since the 90s
now they're closing that small factory because it makes zero sense financially and they are just going to make the exact same chips in pennsylvania/ohio

maybe if you lived in the town next to the factory you might notice a difference? maybe?

why are so many people worked up over this?
>>
>>21859350
>>
>>21863390
You mean "ridiculously rich". Commies are known for being contradictory.
>>
>>21862366
>Chips made in the South are enshittified versions of chips made in New England
Why?
>>21863404
So you think communists are the successful ones in society. Makes sense.
>>
>>21863397
maybe on planet retard

>>21859408
I always read all the labels on every piece of food I purchase. if anything about it is produced outside of the USA I don’t buy it. you’d be surprised how much frozen slop is Canadian
>>
>>21864290
Pretty much everything in Canada is Frozen Slop this time of year
>>
>>21860917
Because a majority of 4chins is slowly being taken over by r*ddit cattle
The shitlibs cattle don't want to admit that liberal Democrat policies inherently fail businesses, so they'll blame "muh late stage capitalism" despite not knowing what that means or never running a business
>>
one again corporations are removing the sovl just so line go up
>>
>>21864345
Did you read the thread? The plant on Cape Cod is a marketing gimmick. The vast majority of Cape Cod chips are made elsewhere and have been for decades. Be mad at the founder of Cape Cod chips who sold the company in the 80s if you want to blame some one.

>>>21864297
The company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch in 1985, and operated as a division of its Eagle Snacks unit. Sales of the chips were up to 80,000 bags a day by the end of the following year, reaching the entire East Coast, with sales of $16 million annually.[2] Bernard bought the company and its factory back from Anheuser-Busch in 1996 with capital from Stolberg Partners.[3] Snack food company Lance Inc. bought the company from Bernard in 1999, by which time annual sales had reached $30 million.[4] In 2010, Lance Inc. merged with Snyder's of Hanover, creating Snyder's-Lance.[5] The Campbell Soup Co. would later go on to acquire Snyder's-Lance in December 2017.[6]

ok?
what the fuck does that have to do with potato chips made in fucking ohio?
unless you lived in the same podunk town as that shitty little factory, you've never eaten them
there's been no change you goddamn retard
>>
it's amazing how 99% of people still don't read past the headline and how their opinions are already formed before reading even that
>>
>>21859350
>END OF AN ERA
you can still get em at the packie by the docks right on the counta. Go pats
>>
>>21859404
50 people run the factory but guarantee there's triple that running the sales and distribution stuff. Lol.
