I kinda get you, OP. Whenever I see sausage and peppers, I always think it needs to be mixed in with sauce and pasta. Putting it in a sandwich seems weird.

Because a sliced sausage like in your own post is much easier to pick up with pasta than if it was diced into smaller pieces. Or are you one of those "people" who eats everything with a spoon?
