Oh for sure, but there are RS fans elsewhere who still think that there's a chance for Alastor and Vox to get together, and I know some would be mad that Alastor rejected Vox just to get together with Lucifer. Everyone has their own reasons for liking and disliking ships. I'm a multishipper myself, I like most ships to some degree. I'm not trying to boil it down to one thing, but at the same time we don't know very much about season 3. Viv could very well make Lilith out to be a bitch regardless of RA since Lucifer is her precious baby. All I'm saying is season 2 turned out better than expected, there's no reason why season 3 and beyond can't be the same. It's hard to trust Viv though, I know, it's just not worth spending the next year or so being mad about something that probably won't happen.

Girl, this is because of Smiles. Viv outright admitted she let Smiles take the reigns on most of season 2/anything to do with Vox due to her loving Vox/Vees so much and as a byproduct of that, RS turned out well done. Smiles does not care about RA or Lucifer, that is 100% Viv's wheelhouse. And seeing her track record with how she's written Stolitz (absolute hot garbage of a ship) and Chaggie (I think they're cute, but mishandled in the show), this does not bode well.

The same can be said for everyone who ships Alastor with someone. I don't know why you're targeting RS specifically, especially when just a cursory look on twitter shows the anguish at the thought of Alastor ending up with anyone is coming from all factions, even just people who simply don't think it's right for Al to be in a relationship. My for you page is only East Asian content so I don't have to see asinine western takes, but when I looked up Radioapple last night to see the response, I saw dismay coming from everyone who wasn't an RA, from RS, to Charlastor, to Lucilith, to not-shippers who just don't like the idea of Alastor being involved with someone, to people who think RA have no chemistry. I think it's perfectly valid to be put off by the idea of Alastor being forced into a poorly written "enemies to lovers" fanfic and becoming a simp for Viv's new favorite boy.

In fairness I'm exposed to much more RS schizophrenia despite actively trying to filter it. Because I prefer human Al I get murdermedia shoved in my face constantly by my algorithm. It would definitely skew my views if I saw only that, because there are some really bad takes, plus my past experience on /hhg/ creates bias. Any way you slice it we're going to have different online experiences based on our preferences, so I genuinely don't think anyone here is trying to start shit over ships or is being snide. People have also GOT to get out of hive-mind group think when it comes to ships. I like Charlastor, but criticism against it and a few bad actors who also happen to like the ship aren't personal attacks against me, or people who ship it in general.

Last bitchpost but I understand there are a lot of people saying that it’s Viv’s vision and they’re not wrong but I wish if this was the direction she was going to take Alastor’s character she had been more clear from the beginning because for me at the moment it feels like I’ve wasted a huge amount of my time in this fandom. At the end of the day it's Viv's show and she can do as she pleases, but it is deeply unfair to give her audience the impression that a beloved character is either straight or aro and then pull a 'lol gay' card with one of the most disliked characters. I've been a fan since the pilot and heavily invested in the fandom for the last two years. I've got quasi-popular fanfics going that I feel obligated to finish and I was considering doing other things as well, but now I'm kind of floundering where I don't know if starting some of the paths that I was planning on traveling would be a good idea. There's a lot of time and money invested in Hazbin for me, and in many ways a lot of emotional baggage too. As sad as it is Al is like a close friend at this point, so the loss will hurt badly. I have to be optimistic about it, but if this is the route Viv takes I'll have to gracefully bow out.

I think it's unfair to beat yourself up over your feelings. They're valid and very understandable if you're heavily emotionally invested in a character that you love. I'd say that many, if not most of us struggle with self harm, so you'll get no judgment here. I know the feeling all too well myself. That said, I would recommend taking a break from Twitter until it dies down a little bit. In a way going back and seeing them gloat is self harm in and of itself. We have to stay optimistic. I personally can't believe Viv would do this, so I have to hope it's Roo or Lilith Al falls for. We have a year of waiting, but we can survive. And if it goes tits up at least we have a community here to vent to before we decide to either leave the fandom or continue on.

I genuinely think she'd lose a substantial chunk of her viewers. There are a lot of RA shippers out there, but fujos alone can't carry a show that has the eye of the mainstream on it. We've seen this with how much criticism Stranger Things is currently getting, people are growing weary of gay drama. Hazbin has the advantage of still being sort of niche with a dedicated fanbase, but it will be picked apart by mainstream viewers if Viv decides to go full retard. There's also going to be a chilling effect on creativity in the fandom if Al is made gay, we already have to deal with people squawking about his race, now expand that to his sexuality if you draw him with a woman. Awful stuff. And I think it'll make people generally less likely to create stuff with Alastor anyway. Kind of how Belle Delphine fell off of the face of the earth as soon as she did porn. People like the fantasy, they like the idea that it COULD happen, but when you deliver the goods the mystique is gone and people stop caring. Alastor's asexuality made him a fun character to work with, if he's just gay people will probably care a lot less than what they do now.

Haha, that would be funny, a trek across London in search of deer. And it's fine, I'm sure trading and whatnot is likely to be a massive hassle, I'd rather give spares away to people who appreciate them. I've already seen someone who said they bought the RS card for $1700, and another who was willing to pay up to $1200 for it. That just seems insane to me.

And on the first day that anyone received their cards. I'm the same, I couldn't scalp a friend. At most I'd want a decent trade. The one who was offering to buy for $1200 was also weird because people were asking how they could afford that, and they were talking about doing it on credit. I'll admit to spending perhaps more than I should have at times on merch, but I've never considered putting it on a credit card. Insane behaviour.

I'm a very firm believer in spending within your limits. I allocate around $30 of my personal money for deer every week. This is sustainable, and if I see a big ticket item I wait until I have what I need saved. Buying merch on credit is a terrible idea, and we have no idea if these cards will retain value down the line.

Same. For me, I will splurge all at once because I don't have a salary as such, I get a big chunk of cash a few times a year. I still weigh up what I can afford, and prioritise what I really want. I can maybe see putting something small on a credit card, that you know you can pay off immediately, but something massive like that just for one card is crazy. I'm sure that specific card will remain one of the most sought after, it's one of the most popular ships and the most popular characters, but paying over $1000? It's not sustainable and a bad precedent to set in my opinion.

Do let us know where that goes, King Alastor sounds like a nightmare to deal with, but what a lovely nightmare to have. As far as myself, only one, since I've had to deal with moving and the fallout thereof. I've played around with the idea of historical RPs, and decided to make him the son of a runaway slave ship servant, who herself was the product of a union between a slave trader and slave. He grew up in a mud hut in Angola and was treated poorly by the tribe's people, who called him 'ghost' (lol) for being pale. His mother taught him French and how to read/write, and he had a lot of questions about Louisiana (where his father was from). Eventually some white missionaries came and he started scheming on how he could use them to fuck over the rest of the tribe for bullying him his whole life. I think he wants a ticket to get away from the bush.

Whereas poor me is worried about the prospect of going from being a humble maid to the queen, and how all my former friends are now glaring at me every time I see them.
