Well hsg, it has been a good day. I have gotten so much done for my comic, and have figured out multiple ways of presentation and formatting. I am quite pleased by these developments. And i shall continue my quest of this chapter.

I do feel like early on it was never intended to be a big deal and purely for ironic comedy but as HS became more drama-focused it ended up being brought back into the limelight and spun as a negative thing. What kind peeves me off about it is when you apply an "abusive" label to a character they're basically instantly turned into hitler by a fanbase and thats the only thing that mention of the character always comes back to and ends with "well he's an abuser" and I feel that the nuance is lost over time as small exaggerations of the character spread and the character ends up as simply a demonic being that has done all wrong in the eyes of the fans. To me the relationship between Dave and Bro I feel still contained fraternal/paternal love, we even saw Bro chilling with him when he was a baby, but as time went on and the Guardians were preparing the Beta kids for the session as well as Dirk's innate mental and emotional issues led to him putting Dave through gruelling training and negligence, but to me that was the way Bro would express his love as harmful as it may have been for Dave so it kinda makes me sad that I see so many people online (mainly twitter) say that Bro held no love for Dave since this love manifested itself in a negative way

I’m gonna be real when I said I’ve done that song and dance multiple times with Bro and Dave, so I’m kinda tired about discussing it. But know that I do agree.
It like, it feels that it should be obvious that a point can be made when you consider Dirk’s character throughout the comic. One of his flaws being that his way of showing care towards his friends is always in such an over-the-top way, which more often than not ends up being harmful. You’d think fans would look at that and get the sense of tragedy that in Bro’s mind, everything he did was out of affection for Dave. That should make it more depressing that there wasn’t any chance for him to convey that through words, since from his actions, you could get why Dave felt like he fucking hated him

Are we talking guardian-swaps? Rose with Bro would be a monster, all that anger she represses with Mom would be turned to swordplay, becoming like a berserker. She would embrace the puppets too, to a frightening degree. She'd definitely spec into puppet kind, which would lead her to being more corruptible by Lil Cal, in a parallel to being groomed by Scratch. I see her being a Knight of Rage, being much more attuned to her extreme emotions, and much more genuinely nihilistic than canon Rose. She may be able to control the grimdarkness and use it at will, like a berserkergang.

Alright on careful review of the Dave English path I have concluded that it's the worst fucking one. thats what i wanted to convey with the kiss panel. like its not a sensual kiss its like a very light but exploratory thing. John is naturally less awkward because he doesn't get all up in his head about these things, and just wants to kiss. Jade is both more reserved but also more forward, as she leans in and grabs john, given how in my version jade and dave tried to make things work out.

in the next panel john will try to take initiative and be more forward with his own kissing, but jade with more experience will redirect it back and she will be in charge again. and then they can finally start getting really into it. And of course we need a spit trail panel. Im not stupid.

also, being authentic to the characters voices was priority number one. I made sure to study their speech patterns as much as i could. and generally get it as right as i could.

I was nervouse to do those more intimate scenes, cause we never see john or jade show that side of themselves as much. ( i dont read them epilouges) so i had to kind of feel it out.

And i am also terrified of woobifying either of them. Jade will show her bubbly and happy side, but also her more unstable and emotional side. In regards to how she is the one who initiates this "relationship" but is fighting within herself whether she should embrace it or reject it. leading her to flip flop attitude whether its ok or not. And for her to get upset and act out because of it.

And john will show his whimsical carefree side, but also his doubtful and dare i say cowardly side. At least cowardly in respects to how he refuses from this point forward to think about what he is doing, and who he is doing it with, because the thought scares him. making him emotionally avoidant at times.

i have done that, and discussed it with users on these very threads. i feel as if i have a good idea of what im doing, i just have to be confident and allow myself to write, make mistakes, and correct those mistakes.

many users have provided much insight into how they also see the characters. and i have taken that into account.

Overall, i want to create a fic about romance and fluff and whatnot. But i also want to push the characters to show sides of themselves they dont in the normal comic, and which i feel that the epilogues, tho i really haven't deeply read any of them, mess up by pushing them into worse characters.

And i want John and Jade to grow into more well rounded people by the end of it. if i ever get there.

I am making a comic remake/reinterpretation/ whatever the fuck of the infamous 3 years comic. A johnjade ship comic exploring their time together on the yellow yard. And how they grow into a romantic and eventually sexual relationship.

My biggest problems (problems in quotes) with it was that the characters were simply drawn to old looking for my tastes. And that the format of a pure comic didn't allow for being a wordy and dialogue heavy affair as is usually MSPA fair.

As such after indulging with this thread on the possibilities I took the pen into my hand and began drawing up the first draft of the first chapter.
