>>77300700 135x12 incline most recently, I hurt my shoulder doing 260 3x1 flat 2 months ago(flared my elbows too much). Hoping to hit 315 by the end of the year
>>77300761 Not sure what you're trying to say, but on my third set, after I got the bar halfway off my chest, I moved it closer to my neck horizontally and pushed my elbows out to get it all the way up. When I sat up it felt like I tore something the back of my left shoulder. Gay as fuck.
>>77300700 I am getting back into lifting after years of no exercise and sitting at a desk 14 hours a day since covid. Had to spend a lot of time getting my shoulders stronger because things had gotten fucking grim.
Currently do 80kgs 2 x10 and 90kgs 2x6 after a few warm up sets and then a few warm down sets. Feels good. Don't do 1RM, but not far off seeing how 2plate goes.
I do 3x4 with 85 kg. Started from 60kg 2 months ago. Slowingly adding 2.5 kg each week more or less. Id try more if i didn't go to a commercial gym in shitaly where nobody is willing to spot you
>>77300700 i did 80 for 3 sets of 5 and stopped benching. i plan to make one final push for 100/2pl8 and then ill probably never bench again. dips feel so much better for me
Too little because of bad leverages and bad shoulders and bad person so if a somewhat gifted 17yo goes to gym for 3 months they bench more and never have any pain. Currently on a streak tho so I might peak my life time records again because it doesn't seem like I'm about to get (overuse) injury by just taking enough rest days.
>>77304018 I forgot to mention the 17yo doesn't need to have a plan or a diet for the first year. However easily half of people are not gifted so they won't lift shit.
Impressive. Are you natty? I've done 225 on the smith machine. Planet fitness only recently added barbells... Totally humiliated myself the first time I tried them. Hadn't occurred to me that I was fasted, and I'd already been working out so I was not at my best... 135, no problem. Bumped it to 185, and nearly couldn't get it up for 1. Total humiliation. Well, not total... total would have been screaming for help or something, but still embarrassing to struggle to put up 185.
>>77300700 I can bench 145lb, so 1 plate and a 5lb LOL i am weak but working on it. Any 2plate anons care to comment how long it took to go from 135 to 225? kthx
>>77304835 I am not a 2 plate anon but October 2025 I was doing 135lbs for 5 reps and am close to 225 now. So I would say about 1 year for me personally but it depends on what you eat, genetics, prior experience, body fat percentage, etc.
>>77304992 You have never seen someone bench 3pl8 natural without tricks but just straight up lifting or repping it. I have seen people rep 1pl8 without necessarily detecting tricks or juice, that I can believe.
>>77305032 >he thinks tricks are needed for benching 3plate The one time I locked in on bench and started bloatmaxxing I got to a 3plate bench quite easily lol btw I was literally a peak of 85kg before I started getting a small gut and stopped for other sports
>>77305035 >>77305042 Where are these 85kg people straight up benching 3pl8 easily like just taking a deep breath and some leg drive and pushing legit reps? Also sorry for appearing troll posting by saying repping 1pl8 instead of 2pl8 by mistake.
>>77300700 I was up to 250 not including bar before I restarted my progression with a focus on deeper rom and a flatter back. Now I'm back to 5 repping 180 finally feel it on my chest though.
I'm trying to push through the final 10kg to 2pl8, any recs on form videos from anons? I've adjusted my form a few times which made the most difference, but still not convinced I have solid form overall
t. 34yo 6ft4 90kg parent of three that started lifting last year
100 kg 3x5 (solo) could probably do 110 with a spot could maybe do 115 if jesus helps i am embarrassingly fat compared to my bench though so dont be impressed
>>77307536 only like 5 people said they bench 3pl in this thread >go to gym >never see anyone lift 2pl8 let alone 3pl8 Your gym just sucks, you probably live in a flyover shithole. Try Venice Gold's
I set foot in a weight lifting gym for the first time in my life this very morning and couldn't bench 60lbs/30kgs. I'm very glad I didn't jump in with 88lbs/40kgs like I planned too. I can lift that when doing dumbbells, strangely. I like this exercise so I'll work on that. I'm far, far away from the 1/2/3/4 plates benchmark. thanks for reading my microblogging post.
>>77300700 I am a fitness retard and have never trained conventionally or in a way that makes any real sense. When I was at my strongest I was doing 5 sets of 10 with 40kg dumbbells. I have no idea if that is good but based on reading other anons lifts it's not great. Have a little home gym and have never bothered buying a bar to put properly heavy weights on.
>>77300700 I finally got back to 205 for reps (4) after really hurting my neck last year. I took months off and when I got back into it i felt so weak. Now I'm at body weight and next stop is above body weight and then.. 2 plate!
I only have dumbells and do it off the floor. I'll 60 reps in 4 sets with 60lb dumbells. I typically get 25 to 26 in the first set and then every set is lesser after that. Basically I go until I get to the point where I'm about to drop them on myself then stop.
>>77300700 Anyone who benches under 225 as a male deserves to be enslaved 225 is still far from a good bench but if you can’t do even that you’re subhuman
>>77311683 >45yo loser Damn, I bough the house that I grew up in 25years later and am sleeping not in the master bedroom but in the same room I had as a child. Pretty comfy really. Probably weird to a lot of people, probably why I have never invited even one visitor over.
>>77312823 How can you even injure elbows during bench? I bench 350lbs a don’t feel anything in my elbows even on 1RM. It’s only hard on shoulders if not properly tucked or wrists if retarded grip position
Normally drop sets starting at 175xfailure knocking off 5lbs every set and shooting for 10 reps minimum but going to failure for 4 sets. Haven’t maxed out because forever alone home gym user and no spotter feel like I could probably put up 2plates for at least one rep tho
>>77312823 Injure your elbow once sit on the sideline for a couple months and then forever have that little nagging pain in your elbow afterwards to remind you not to be a retard
>>77303309 I feel week resorting to 185 ohp for low low reps. Thank god my mp and arched bench can beat 2/3. I feel behind on everything and just hammer it a few times a week and use super low weight like 2pl8-245 bench 145 ohp to work on weak points.makes me feel weak to bench 2pl8s or ohp 1.
