Does that mean that I need to specifically design my PCB and case in a certain way so that it thocks if I want tasteless people to buy it? Are there design guides for that or do I need to hire an audio-engineer for that?

GMK DMG clones arrived. They're not 100% accurate to GMK's but they're close enough that I'm not gonna quibble about it. Dark blue type on the alphanumerics is black on the clone set. Otherwise it's pretty spot on, the pictures are accurate but I sort-of ignored them.
Not bad! Pretty damn close to GMK quality for $50 instead of ~$200, and comes with novelties like Start/Select lettered keys and the d-pad arrow keys.

I'll also note that the novelties you can buy for this clone set are basically everything but the windowed Caps Lock keys, and I did find a separate listing for similar keys: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806647384783.html
DMG clone came from here where I bought the "all in one" kit that included novelties: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807901326907.html

Trouble in paradise. My Lichicx raw silent tactiles have developed a bit of spring crunch, which is more noticeable on this kind of switch.
I've never done anything with the springs on these, they're still dry. What do you guys (particularly those of you who have used silents long-term) recommend? I have Tribosys 3204, Krytox 205g0, and 105. Should I bag lube with 105, donut dip with one of the greases, or lightly brush the ends with one of the greases? I tried donut dipping one switch with 3204 and lightly brushing the other with it, and the donut dipped switch had more crunch eliminated, but that was minutes ago so I don't know how that will hold up over hours/days/weeks/months/years.

I could make you a dactyl considerably less. Things like the angled thumb cluster make more sense imo. That said you should do things like talk to a doctor, or adjust the rest of your setup so you can type with a proper posture first before plonking down a few hundred dollars on a new board.

I finished my pcb and sent it to jlcpcb a few days ago. I based it on the Silakka and basically just moved a few keys around (more pinky stagger and moved the thumb area out) and adjusted the outline. I think I now know enough about KiCad to do the next design completely from scratch but for now this should be enough.

I have one and never liked it. kept thinking "well I just have to practice and get used to it"
got the cyboard imprint and it's miles better than the glove in both comfort and function. the only thing is if you really need it to be super flat, it can't do that.
I don't have any issues with my hands or wrists so it's hard to gauge how important the whole flat thing could be. I just know that preventing injuries is much more effective than dealing with them after the fact. Plus, the concept with these things just makes sense.

Has anyone bought from gmkkeycaps.com before? I'm interested in a GMK DMG clone that's listed on their website but I can only find that color on this listing https://gmkkeycap.com/product/173-keys-gmk-dmg-bingsu-cherry-profile-d ouble-shot-keycap/ and only under a SKU labeled "wob" at the end of the list. I don't think it's actually WOB because they have other WOB/BOW listings on the site that actually show WOB in the picture, but I can't be sure and I don't want to order Game Boy keycaps and get a white set instead.
>>
How long until we get TMR and HE boards that aren't just the usual ANSI/QWERTY 60 - TKL range of shit? I use a LP ortho split because it helps me manage my very limited space and comfort better, but seemingly NOTHING exists like that with modern tech, even for something Planck/Preonic-like. There are a handful of low-profile magnetic boards, but they're all in standard layouts, and those hurt to use. Fuck, I can't even build from a kit or whatever. It wouldn't matter if durability/reliability of mech switches wasn't so dog-ass.

They are really good. They feel like you're pressing rocks under your fingertips, the tactility is beautiful.
Unrelated note but I've been meaning to post this here for a while as a PSA. I'm sure everyone knows it already but seeing the difference like this really drives it home.
Top pic is the switch installed in a hotswap PCB while it was still mounted in the case (my F1 here). Bottom pic is the same switch installed in the same PCB except it's outside the case and I've got my forefinger pressed against the hotswap socket on the rear. The difference speaks for itself.
Never install switches in hotswap PCBs without taking it out of the case, and always stabilize the hotswap socket with your finger when installing or removing a switch.

#1 argument in favor of tactiles imo is that linears will make you totally neurotic about any perceived lack of smoothness in the switch travel. I'm using linears right now to break them in for a friend's build, and at first they felt great but the more I use them I'm not sure if it's a factory lubing that's redistributing or I'm just getting pickier but I'm beginning to feel like the stroke is a little obstructed and I just keep getting less and less happy with the state of them.
>>107958861
You bought a Chinese closed source firmware ANSI board with the expectation you could add German keys to it? Are you retarded? Nobody in this thread would ever have recommended that to you if you had stated this use requirement
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>107959091
So it didn't even function as an ISO-ES board when you got it? Because the keyboard language layout is determined by your OS and not the keyboard firmware, so in theory it should have just worked out of the box right?
>>
>>107959119
nah it works out of the box
the problem is that i have to rebind right control because i need right alt and the fn key
but if i rebind then the software overwrites some other random keys and they stop working

Long story short, no, if that were true you can bet Dell and other OEMs would have already had that shit on every office membrane keyboard ever fabricated, way more valuable data that's way easier to get ahold of than trying to trojan a keylogger into QMK firmware or even a "dumb" microcontroller for a mechanical keyboard

/mkg/ I need some help
I have a Blackwidow v4 75% (I dont know better)
im getting key chatter (no input double inputs) Ive seen people have success replacing the switches but ive also seen people throw the oranges in other boards after and they work fine.
My question is it the PCB or the switches? considering its a 200 dollar paperweight after less than 6 months of use If I could fix it and maybe mod it a little that would be a nice consolation

Unless you're looking at your keycaps under a microscope to check for imperfections, GMK is wholly unremarkable as a keycap manufacturer anyways. I do see MTNU as a high-brow answer to Akko ASA, or a low profile answer to MT3, though.

For me I think they're overhyped and you can't tell the difference between most other modern tactiles that already aped U4Ts and pandas. Not surprising because Type-R's have the exact same force curve as several previous tactiles... just with the 0.3mm of post travel cut out, whoop dee doo. Shit you wouldn't notice when actually typing anyway
Also louder and personally a bit more grating to me than even rattly clickies because they are higher pitched sounding in a similar way to fingernails tapping on a tabletop.
Zeal needs to get on that new switch that's supposed to be SKCM Brown inspired I've heard about, instead of being a coffee faggot or whatever he's doing nowadays.

No one else is spending the time to make intricate double shot molds for novelties for sets like Kaiju or Mictlan. No one else has the same breadth of colors in double shot keycaps either. The knock-offs are all poorly dye-subbed keycaps where the color fades halfway down the side of the keycap and the colors aren't close to begin with.

ThinkPad's
I'm beginning to slowly build a real PC and eventually retire this stinkpad, but I'm not really in a hurry for better specs so I am just looking to improve QOL instead
Already ordered 27" external monitor, wireless mice is next, wireless keyboard would be nice too but I imagine it won't be possible in this budget range (actually low priority compared to wireless mice)
I am a complete newfag to mechanical keyboards, but when I asked about it a while ago, the advice was to get the cheapest board possible and replace the switches with Gateron KS-3X47 for my use case (relatively light typing, some MMO and rhythm games)
I don't know if the advice is still accurate, but I guess I need the board to be 5-pin switch compatible?

Is MSI Vigor GK30 good budget option? Wanted to try out mechanical keyboard, is plunger switches significantly different from membrane?

Where are people getting the wave75 for $100?
I did research and it said the rainy75 was the best keyboard to get, they had them on drop cheapest, but drop only has the white in stock and the other colors have been out of stock forever.
I then read the wave75 was better and cheaper, but I'm not find it it for the prices people are saying online, not on AliExpress either anyway.
I don't know what's better, they say evo75 but it's almost $200 that's a bit much.
I didn't see much mention of these in the archive here besides the rainy75 though.

Round two, let's see if this DMG clone is more accurate on the alphanumerics. Purchased from "IPOPULAR", there's one or two Reddit mentions of successful sales from this site.

Also if this clone doesn't measure up either, or I can't mix and match two sets into an accurate set, then I'm going to swallow my pride and just order the real set with my tax return.

I did find what appears to be a Youtube video of the same set (O/X keys are the giveaway) and the alphanumerics are accurate, so we'll see. It's just up to the store to actually ship and deliver it at this point. Apparently the manufacturer is G-MKY, which either... doesn't exist anymore, or has gone even more obscure than when it renamed to Hyekit on some storefronts. Shame, too, because AFSA keycap clones of some GMK and KBDIY sets were really good, but it looks like those SA/AFSA sets do still persist on Amazon.

>tl;dr Is picrel a good poorfag keyboard?
I can't find a budget 5-pin keyboard at all, only premium enthusiast stuff
I've been researching a little and it seems I could use a 3-pin board with 5-pin switches if I cut off the small side pins or something, I don't know if this is a smart idea
Not a fan of modding through permanently damaging something (wouldn't that make the switches useless if I were to get a 5-pin board in the future), but I could make a compromise, being THAT much cheaper, and the board has at least decent enough quality to last long
Is picrel any good? Are these Red Kailh BOX Switches a good babby's first mechanical keyboard?
It's somehow on a flash sale that ends in 9h on Ali ($60 -> $43 including import taxes), trying to find more options with this Special sale label but no luck so far
Other than that, there are plenty of Redragon options locally, some costing less than $30, which I could use for hot swapping modding purposes, but I read that they all use Outemu switches which are supposedly terrible and their boards not very widely compatible with modding (I'd need to destroy the entire fucking gateron switch just to make it fit)

It's perfectly fine, those plastic side pins are for increased stabilization on plateless keyboards. If your keyboard has a switch plate in any way, the PCB is only five-pin for compatibility.

(It probably doesn't matter, but for top model there are only Red or White available, and for bottom model there's only Brown available.)

That does seem to be a fairly popular advice
Actually it does make sense too, since I would be swapping them with Linear in the near future anyway
Alright, thanks, friends, I'm ordering the Hexgears GK705 now
>>
>>107968283
desu if you still here i'd cancel the order and get the whites
ironically has both a better tactile and linear feel than brown and red respectively
and aren't obnoxiously loud as classic blues
box whites are widely loved for a reason

Knight v4 stabs, lube them normally with 205g0 like you would a cherry stab, and imo also get something like the c3equalz stabilizer soulmate kit, put the 0.3mm thick pads under the spacebar stabs and imo the 0.2mm under the other stabilized keys (spacebar needs the extra thickness)
I've tried Knight V4 and Typeplus and although I like both I found the Typeplus seemed a little more prone to binding, so they wouldn't be my first choice. And I haven't actually tried them with silent switches to be sure it's a good combo, whereas I have done a silent board with the Knights and I know they're good.
>>
>>107971118
>the Typeplus seemed a little more prone to binding
that's probably because you're used to using truckloads of lube to get stabs to stop ticking. typeplus can get away with an extremely light coat of 205g. i think they even advertise that you can run them completely dry

when I use 60%, I use split backspace but grave (esc is esc on press, ~ on shift+esc and ` on alt+esc) is also common
>>
>>
>>107971453
yeah, it's a common bind. like I said, it should be called grave. or maybe it's only called that in vial? I don't know but the bind itself is there somewhere, maybe under special. you shouldn't have to do anything funky with layers or anything like that to get it
>>
>>
>>107971473
I just looked and there's Esc ` in via but it doesn't have the same behavior I remember. I could have sworn you could also get backticks and not just tilde. It might be a vial only thing or I might just be wrong.

I think you are confused. Cherry doesn't have to adapt to fit other manufacturers' products. They set the standard to which everyone else must conform. When Cherry switches are incompatible with, e.g., a keyboard plate, that means the plate is defective.
I don't think that Typeplus cannot work with Cherry, I would sooner blame my keycaps and the difficulties that always come with tight tolerances such as those they aimed for with these stabs. If I thought they were out of spec with Cherry switches I would simply call them worthless garbage. I don't think they're that.
