The reason for wanting FLAC in the first place is archival so I want perfect CD rips. If it gets trumped it stops seeding. I don't want a bunch of crap that's going to get trumped for those kinds of reasons, no checksums etc, in my personal archive. I should also touch on this. I experienced going to record shops run by dumb boomers and also retro game stores in the US. These retards would mark up the most popular shit like try to charge you $50 for a Beatles record or expensive prices for Mario/Pokemon games even though that shit sold insane amounts of copies and is super common. I would never waste my money on those kinds of records. Trying to buy games on eBay I could find more acceptable prices for games.

If something is common and popular the prices for it in used condition may seem somewhat unrealistic, but as soon as one pops up that's priced to move it will. Some things are truly rare but go for low prices because of low demand. Other things are rare and sought after so you need to get lucky if you're ever going to get a good deal, or just pay whatever they are asking and get it over with.

I'm more interested in having the audio that is contained on the disc on my hard drive and uploading it so other people can have it. There is some appeal for that though. Usually watermarks are not individualized. They are used by record labels (especially Universal associated ones) to track leaks. So when they submit albums to streaming services they have a unique watermark for each service. Most of the time it's fairly inaudible but it can absolutely ruin some music, especially classical.
