>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is an invite-only torrent website. Each member shares common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

>It doesn't matter if you use the same username in different trackers, the staff still share your IP with each other.
>Staff is reading, being /marked/ is not a meme, and even if it is, it isn't.
>Don't ask for invites, it's private for a reason.
>If starting out you should interview for RED, rank to Torrent Master, wait on account age, and get invites from there. THAT'S IT THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

For the Usenet fags here, do you guys donate to indexers? They seem pretty unusable in an automation stack with the meager API hits they give you as a free user.
>>
>>108017937
only the domains are seized. as far as we know there is no reason for these sites not to return pretty quickly.
>>108018862
i don't think anyone itt uses indexers as their main supply for content. they are a backup to reseed stuff or find niche warez or local p2p stuff or whatever.
>>
>>108018862
I don't, but it's true that they're borderline unusable with the strict api/download limits. I only use Usenet for airing shows and if I want to watch an older show I go for torrents

the *arrs are kind of homo in a impalpable way. it's probably because they take the joy out of downloading. the more automation the more chud. i can inagine little chuddy clicking on the add button on a movie in radarr, readjusting his glasses and smiling as if he's on top of the world.
>>
by which i mean tk say that jackett MOGS
>>
why does AB have to be so fucking bad with sonarr? why don't they just use thetvdb instead of anidb? or why isn't there a sonarr alternative for anidb. the false positives you get with the "sonarr compatibility mode" with prowlarr and jackett sucks ass and ou can onl ever grab the first season and it's usually wrong. I wouldn't care that much but that's where all the seadex releases are :(
>>
>>108019086
its just a torrent indexer search. its not some grand statement about tech. i do not adjust my glasses like i am some anime protagonist when i do mundane shit like downloading a torrent.

What is the point of hiding your requests from your profile on RED? There are many RED users who have good taste and make actually interesting requests I would pay money to fill, but I can't see all of them at once, because their paranoia is too high.

RED. HDB and others make up for most of the difference. Not to say I wouldn't struggle to find some things but music is more important to me than anything else.
>>
How many CD have you ripped in your life?
>>
>>108021397
Probably like 50. Usually for personal use but I uploaded and shared things. I did some scene releases and uploaded stuff to p2p too. The problem before used to be that it was rare I would buy something that wasn't already ripped. Now I'm buying stuff that wasn't properly ripped.
>>
Which streaming service would you recommend downloading from, if you want to upload the album to RED (in terms of metadata and file quality)?
>>
>>108021659
File quality is all basically the same. MD5 of the unencoded content should match between different services. Make sure the MD5s are set if using Qobuz. Metadata actually depends more on the tool that was used than the service but some quirks to look out for are documented in the RED spammer's guide in the OP.

>>
>>108026931
What's on red I can't find on soulseek or something?
>>
>>108026984
I share everything I get on RED and OPS to slsk. I don't give a shit if you don't want to use the trackers. But without them existing as a source of high quality verified rips slsk would be worse than it already is.
>>
>>108027334
I let my account get deactivated on red, the ratio was too hard to build when I can just download shit on soulseek anyway. But yeah I see a lot of shares that come from there.
>>
The best argument for private trackers is that all this shit has to come from somewhere. All the hoarders with shitloads of hard drives, buyfags, and people paying for seedboxes coming together in one place benefits everyone downstream. Without a supply chain you would be relying on nothing more than the generosity of a select few. Public piracy was not better in the 2000s I can tell you that much.
>>
I feel like I read the same thing regarding the importance of hedge funds because they provide liquidity to the market. Just saying, I don't give a fuck, but I suspect the window for piracy will be closed before the end of the decade.
>>
>>108027446
Well piracy has intense demand. Streaming was supposed to kill piracy but the fragmentation of services brought it back into relevance. Why would someone pay for 10 different services when they could set up Plex or Jellyfin and have everything in one app? Some of the people doing this type of activity may be paying for it. A VPN for public trackers, usenet services, or pay2leech private trackers like IPT. There's a lot of savings compared to the alternatives even if you pay2pirate. You can open up access to your server to friends and family too.

What scares me is the push for identity verification on the internet. Anti-VPN legislation. All that nonsense. It has me thinking that I need to hoard more things that I like so I have it even when it becomes harder to acquire.
>>
>>108027446
Why would it close? They're going back to tightening things, even normal people are noticing how shitty streaming sites are and how much better torrents are.
>>
>>108027484
Good point on the fragmentation. Don't have the data, but I've seen my fair share of posts and complaints about people getting fed up and taking the dust out of the pirate hat.

>What scares me is the push for identity verification on the internet. Anti-VPN legislation.
Identity vet is really scary and I can see it coming with the weakening of globalization, or the so called spheres of influence making a comeback, because it would fucking tax or kill some markets and I don't think entertainment execs are that eager to swallow the loss of that revenue, therefore, a big push to control piracy would definitely be in their interests. Draconic legislation like this will probably take awhile though. I do think they will soften the blown with AntiVPN stuff first, like you say.
>>
>>108027560
I've said it here >>108027590.
>>
>>108027595
They can't restrict VPNs that much, so many people use them for work & business, just rent a VPS and connect to that and then to your vpn of choice.
>>
>>108027590
I have a Jellyfin server set up for my mom. She pays for Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Peacock, and Starz. She's usually asking for shows from Apple TV and Hulu, occasionally Netflix. Even people who might be paying for services because some shows or services (live NBC/CBS is a big draw for my mom) are important to them might feel like they only want 1-2 shows from some other service so they just pirate them. Then there's people like me who pirate everything.
>>
>>108026550
What's the alternative, public trackers? >>108027421 may be right, aggregating sources and streamlining content distribution is a great reason for private trackers (and other places like the scene) to exist. But the real reason for their existence is simply because people who seeded stuff got tired of people who didn't.
It's like the shopping cart theory, there are no rules forcing you to seed, so a lot of people just don't. So autists in basements decided to make it a rule and created their little secret clubs where everyone was a 'good' pirate and 'bad' pirates got weeded out. Remember the HnR rate on I think rarbg or some other public tracker that displayed it? Every new torrent started at like 97% and eventually climbed to 99% without fail. Nobody seeds without incentives, that's the truth of it. Only anime (and porn to a lesser degree) seems to be consistently seeded on public trackers for some reason lmao.
>>108027446
Don't be daft, piracy as a concept has no end.
>>
>>108027421
>Public piracy was not better in the 2000s I can tell you that much.

BLU doesn't have beef with ATH. Nobody on BLU cares about them or talks about them. However, those ATH fags ALWAYS find a reason to complain about BLU. >>
>>108031038
we can agree that they are both on the same level. I would place BLU above ATH because they have very talented remuxers and encoders, while ATH only has web-dl trannies. It pisses me off when people act like ATH is the new BHD or something. It's not. it is trash and always will be.

I had noticed for a while now that if you leave Deluge running long enough, it'll just keep eating up the Windows page file/commit charge. I would manually restart my deluge every few days or at most after a week or two when I noticed it was sitting at like 50 GB+ and 90% of it was deluge.

Finally realized I was already running a custom script to monitor my VPN and forcefully rebind Deluge to the VPN interface and forwarded port if anything changed. I could just add another function to the script that monitors the commit charge level and restarts Deluge if that level goes above a certain threshold (85%).

Since I already have my VPN monitoring script writing a log file for the VPN changes and heartbeat monitoring, I decided to write another script as a log file analyzer. This way, I can see at a glance how things are going.
>>
>>108033452
Usecase?
>>
>>108033477
I no longer have to manually restart deluge, or check if my VPNs forwarded port changed.

And I can now check to see how much deluge is eating the page file and how often my script is restarting deluge.

It's autism, but automation autism is fun.

Its just for archival purpose, but even a logless CD flac doesn't matter as long as it sounds decent/has normal spectrals

>>
>>108038809
they can tell the difference between us oldfag shitposters and the election tourist chuds
>>
no one is going to comment about my impeccable ratio?
>>
>>108038820
Entirely depends on the album. It's not like CD or WEB are inherently different. But sometimes a completely different version was put on CD. Most of the time a CD from 1988 probably sounds better than a remaster made in 2002. There are exceptions so I always pay attention instead of blindly downloading shit. If there's no information about some albums I just get the CDs.
>>
>>108038873
I only want releases with 100% logs because I don't want to waste my buffer on a bunch of shit that can be trumped. If I care enough about the music I'll buy it and trump it myself.
>>
>>108038920
Sure, but I mean if there's only one master available (or it's the same master on the CD and WEB)
>>
>>108038940
WEB FLACs can't be trumped, they're equal to 100% logs
>>
>>108038842
>>108038882
here's a (you)
>>
>>108038942
Usually a WEB release comes out before the CD. So if I'm getting it when it's brand new I'll get the WEB. Or if it's something I care about enough to archive in 24bit. Otherwise if CD exists I download the CD.

>>108038950
I think at some point in the future an accuraterip like database for streaming/purchased WEB music needs to exist so we can verify it. Also so we can track all the times albums are watermarked or silently updated to fix mastering issues or change things around because of sample clearance like the latest Clipse album.
>>
Do people still download 1080p remuxes if a 4k source exists AND is superior? Encodes are like 99% quality and good enough for most usage, meanwhile 4k is perfect if you want to exploit your 4k monitor/tv
>>
>>108038982
If a WEB release come out before the CD, it means it a recent album and thus the master will be most likely the same. Anything older than 2015 a CD rip is prefered
>>
>>108038995
To me CD rips are more collectable but it's also not worth the effort of replacing a WEB rip with one if it's a hyped new album and I wanted it the minute it came out. Usually in those cases I am just downloading scene releases from IPT instead of wasting my buffer or tokens on it.
>>
>>108038987
I don't have a 4K TV. There are some movies where all the 1080p blurays fucking suck and there's a superior 4K release. Let's use Se7en as an example. If I wanted to watch that perhaps I should play it back on my TV using tone mapping rather than waste my time with the shitty 1080p sources? I never tried it.
>>
>>108039034
Nah i meant that if a movie has both a 1080p and 4k release, there is little point in "keeping" the 1080p remux archived as its purpose is beaten by the 4k one (max quality) or the encode (99% quality for a smaller size)

Most 1080p remuxes seems to be dying, unless there is no encode or thats the max quality available

>>108039017
I would just buy them at this point desu. CD market is still decent enough nah? unlike video games where you have games that sold 5-7m units for like 200$
>>
>>108039034
if there's a 4k sdr source, request a new downscale encode from that
>>
>>108039047
CiNEPHiLES still caters to us 1080p fags and there are good encodes around too. As far as buying CDs goes I'm mostly getting used ones from Japan. Occasionally new ones but I can see the market there is slowly starting to consolidate as it winds down. They aren't pressing every popular new album there anymore. So I can rely on RED for all the big new stuff since people in UK/US are buying most things but whatever is missing I will need to pay out the ass to buy from Discogs rather than consolidating in a shipment from zenmarket.

>>108039053
In the majority of these cases it's a HDR source. That's the problem.
>>
>>108038987

Is it me or zenmarket became expansive? i bought 2 book that were worth 20$ (local shipping in japan included) and in the end i paid almost 60$ wtf? it used to be much cheaper
>>
>>108039178
I only recently started using it. There's always the 500 yen fee on everything then I end up paying out the ass for shipping. I'm really good at spotting absolute steals on Yahoo Auctions though so that kinda negates it.
>>
>>108039178
Apparently the fee on zenmarket used to be 300JPY? The yen is in the shitter right now and it just keeps getting worse so it makes sense that inflation will hit the proxy services. But we can still take advantage of the market being what it is by spotting cheap stuff and buying it. Makes sense to get as much as you can in one box too before you run out of money.
>>
I don't use Zenmarket, but FromJapan, in the end I paid like 140€ (including shipping and taxes) for three albums à 25€. It's just so fucking expensive
>>
That's why I'd recommend anons to also look at Discogs as there are some Japanese companies sellings CDs there that they ship from local warehouses (for example in the US or the EU), so you save money on taxes and shipping fees. Of course the items themselves are sold at a higher price, but it might still be cheaper than taking the route to import it directly from Japan.
>>
>>108039230
Zenmarket just happens to deal with the country where I live and it's e-wallets. Being able to take the elevator to the bottom floor of the building where my work has me staying and stick all my money into a machine to put it onto my wallet then just scan a QR code to send it straight to Zenmarket is great. I love burning through most of my cash in one afternoon just because I found so many albums I wanted. They have a good choice of shipping methods too. I used EMS for my first order but I'm thinking I should have used ECMS.
>>
>>108039258
I live in Southeast Asia so shipping from EU/US isn't better. It's always assrape. I may need to get set up with forwarder services in those regions too so I can buy what I want but the problem will be finding enough at one time to be able to consolidate it all.
>>
>>108039262
>I used EMS for my first order but I'm thinking I should have used ECMS.
It's probably cheaper than DHL (which I use), they're greedy cunts in general, but tit's just more comfortable and very fast
>>
>>108039270
Yeah, but most anons aren't from Asia
>>
>>108039315
When I lived in the US I also bought used Japanese CDs from China. They have quite a few there and they are usually dirt cheap. It helps if you're not a collectorfag and willing to take ones with beat up cases, discolored inserts, and no obi.

>false. you can't do it
Just make every new upload that doesn't follow the official naming scheme trumpable and the Indians will gladly fix the issue and improve the site
>the best one should trump the other. and the best one is never the framenigger release

artist name - album name (release year) (edition and/or rerelease year) [source-FLAC] {catalgoue}

Source could look like be
[FLAC CD Publisher 1234-5678-9012 - additional free form info]
More ideas welcome.

Give every uploader a very generous period to do it, like 1 album/week starting from 2027 and to be done by 2030.
If they're banned, one of the current seeders do it.
