At this point yeah you're stuck with finding something that sort of matches the theme or settle for modern flat shit, I wanted to port some gtk2 stuff to gtk3 but it seems like a nightmare to pull off.

Did you follow the site instructions? I haven't used FreeBSD before, but every problem I ever had with OpenBSD was solved by reading their FAQs, I hear FreeBSD has similarly good documentation; but that the desktop setup experience is also worse and not as straightforward as Linux's

I have a 2k screen and the screen scaling is terrible on x11, even on Plasma. And when you throw multi-monitor setups into it, then it gets really complicated really fast. And outside of that, WindowMaker doesn't have the feature set I need in a desktop environment, but I love the layout.

Had this painting as my wallpaper for a while before i switched to the one in the screenshot.

I've been trying out niri (was on hyprland for quite a while). Seems quite solid and the config is simple. The scrolling feature is useless to me though so I'll just disable it. Mangowc might be more to my tastes so I'll give that a chance too. I also might just stop using a status bar, or go for something really minimal.
