I think you could go either way on the torso. I'm a little confused where her left arm is going. If you do exaggerate the lean forward, you could drop her left shoulder a bit and have her left arm rest on her knee/thigh to balance the lean. I like the pose overall though.

Rat design because I want to do Redwall justice. The design you see drawn in brown was made by contour drawing. The others here are extrapolations; me attempting to “standardize” how these rats are drawn. My main concern is whether I’ve made a “front view” that looks consistent with the other angles, but I also wonder if it’s even necessary to make these front views?

I'm not talking about the line quality, I'm saying the line art is fucked in the sense that the subject it represents is wrong. How exactly do you practice anatomy without trying to put the right lines in the right places?

At your current skill level, I think you're biting off more than you can chew by attempting different styles. You're already struggling to keep details consistent that shouldn't be changing in different styles (whether there's a visible scar under her eye patch, the height of that blue gem on her chest, etc). You're also not changing enough with each style, the coloring and linework is too similar which lessens the effect. The leftmost sprite is simple but appealing, if you stick to that style, work on your facial anatomy and the hair shape, I think you can make something nice.
Pic related is my edit. Just a guess but it seems like you don't draw the eye under the eyepatch, or the shape of the head that's covered by hair. Even if they're erased later, sketching where they are will make it easier to have things like the eyepatch and scar in the right place and at the right size. The other big thing is the elf ears. Be mindful of where they start on the head and how high you're having them end. Also don't forget to draw the eyebrows.

Retried the cat using a pencil instead of digital and I like it, still kinda wish had some colored pencils but I had fun.
I think the eyes are a bit less round than the original but otherwise I'm not unhappy.
Whats the thing to learn to draw goobers like this by yourself? figure drawing? Construction? Something totally different?

i'll keep that in mind! i used a picture of myself for reference and perhaps the shitty camera angle distorted the arm? or maybe i failed to properly translate it and account for the back, idk; regardless i'll see what i can do to make it more correct.

Composition, color harmony, values. If I had to guess it's a drawing of a photograph someone else took so it's like having an extremely solid foundation that they can just draw on top of resulting in this charm of low skill painting vs high skill composition/colors.

Not directed at anybody on this thread, but more so based on behavior I keep seeing on plebbit. It's really obnoxious when somebody who is clearly skilled says something along the lines of, "Beginner am new to this" when their art is easily at ant int or advanced level. Like who are you kidding buddy? You want praise? Do you want people to glaze you and call you a prodigy? If you truly were that good you'd have already been discovered by now like the 17 year old animator that got picked up for his amazing animations. Not once did that fucker say he was a beginner by the way, he didn't need to lower the bar for people to glaze him, he was just him. Anyways, just wanted to rant.

mmmm me thinks not. With the average skill level of the sub i was looking at, it was the equivalent of a highschool jv football player accidentally thinking they belong on an 8 year old's flag football team. I think it's pretty clear when people are fishing for validation.
>>
>>7873931
People are prideful. Permabegs who refuse to believe they are permabegs, talented rats who want to believe they are all hardwork and no talent and that they had it as hard as everyone else, average tards who think they can be good as their idols with just hard work.

>soul is irrelevant to artwork
When did you learn you shared this board with heartless creatures?
The truth is that art is what we experience it as. No matter if it is cleanly in the lines. True art should make you feel something. If it doesn't, it isn't art.
It could be a white speck surrounded by a sea of black. If that white speck had a world of effort and care put into it, you could certainly see (and feel) that.

Laughably wrong. You have no idea how many top notch draftsmen Chinese, European, Russian, Korean and Japanese art schools pump out every year. People who mog all /ic/ a thousand times over. And where do most of them end up? Doing art for postcards or shop bags or best case some indie video game designs for pennies. 99% of skilled artists are nobodies. Unless you consider having any paying art job "making it".
People who make it either have soul AND peak skill or their SOVL is so overflowing it doesn't matter their art is shit. The bottom line is, skill is irrelevant. Soul is what people really care about. You can only earn some autism cred if you nail perspective and that's all.

Art, I assume or could it be jestering? Lol. Obviously a top tier artist that gets money solely by putting up a patreon is another thing but who are the begs with overwhelming soul that are getting "bags of money" actually for their art, be real
