DJT is a language learning thread for those studying the Japanese language.
Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.

No need to be sorry!
>珍
Oh that I already know that, but I meant as in using 御珍木 for trees that look like penises. I couldn't find such usage anywhere except from that one tree near 琴滝

In brief, 御ちん木 is not common at all.
It's probably a made-up word by the author, but average Japanese natives can understand what it means and what it is a pun on, the instant they see it.
Also, 珍木(ちんぼく) can't be said to be a common word for rare/strange trees either.
If it was me, I'd restate something like 珍しい木 or 面白い木 or simply 変な木 to make it easier to understand.

I've reached a level where reviewing words on Anki every day doesn't even scare me anymore. If I know the readings there's a 50/50 chance I will recall the meaning. If I don't I just have to quickly run through my daily review list. Eventually once all the readings are settled into my mind reviews will get even shorter. Feels good.

Okay so I just went through my daily decks and it turned out I need to review only 50 words. I can read 3/4 of the words I learned spanning from February to March so it's working as expected.

Ganbarimashita pastakun. Want to walk me through how to set up anki? Last time i installed it, i went to download word decks and nothing was ever in them so i just had an empty app. Also have you seen the new dr stone episode? What was your opinion on their italian culture depiction?
>>
>>220656173
I don't download any decks. I just mine words from eroge, twitter and 4chan and let AI turn them into decks. You'd better use real content rather than pre-made decks, that way you will be able to learn structures and grammar along the way.

I just realized only 4 days ago I was at 5400 but yesterday I just hit 6000. When new kanji and readings will finally be out of the way learning japanese will be a cakewalk.

>im just looking to expand vocab and hone my kanji reading right now
Well then read visual novels, the sooner you'll start the sooner you'll get used to the flow. I'm in a funny stage where sometimes I can read with minimal assistance and somedays I have to mine persistently because I get a barrage of new words. Especially during h-scenes with all the hilarious euphemisms and rare kanji.

>AI slop
This word refers to AI-generated trash flooded everywhere on the Internet, right?
Unfortunately, there's no Japanese equivalent of it, so you have no choice but to call it "AIスロップ" that was transliterated from its English pronunciation.

Oh I didn't mean 御ちん木. Before you wrote
>ごちんぼく is often written 御珍木 in kanji and refers to a sacred tree that looks like a penis growing within the princicts of a shinto shrine.
but I couldn't find any such usage, so I was wondering if it's really a thing.

Yeah, especially Kabukichō in Shinjuku is notorious for one of the unsafest areas in Tokyo.
At least, I've heard nothing but bad things about it, so I'll never visit there.

And it's still 100times safer than any city in the west. Last year i was there with my 2000€ (body + len) camera and nobody tried to steal it. For the drug dealers, just say no and you're fine. Only dumb americajin can argue with them lol, but yeah it's a place i won't visit it again. There are better places in tokyo.
>>220665983
I disagree. Apart from those spots it's still nice, at least for a tourist. If i should commute everyday to wageslave for 田中さん i'd go crazy.

>A child driving a big car" is originally a Chinese idiom meaning overestimating one's abilities or doing something beyond one's control. However, in the world of anime and manga, it has somehow come to be used to describe a "couple pairing" where the man is younger than the woman. (google translateより)

>Maybe I should ankigoon the joyo kanji after learning kana
The joyo kanji list is a meme. I use real native content all the time and I often find only new non-joyo kanji now. I know about 300 which aren't part of the official list and I'm just playing slice of life eroge. Should tell you about how artificial the list is, just keep reading and cramming until you reach a sufficient literacy level.
>>220682210
I mined 150 words yesterday and managed to cram them in a couple of hours by tackling the new kanji and readings that came up during my session. I could read the rest easily, once you know most of the readings learning words feels like a breeze.

異体同心 (Itai Doshin) is a moral and spiritual principle that means different bodies, same mind. To ensure the prosperity of a society, individuals must pursue the same noble goal while valuing their own individual characteristics. When this harmony is dissolved, chaos ensues as in modern society's extreme individualism.
Once again Nichiren was right, buddhism is reason.
