i had two neighbors die suddenly in recent years. first guy was 39. had a heart condition he didn't know about. one day alive, next day gone. no warning. other guy was in his 50s, driving down highway for his job, car accident, toast. you never know. also my grandma is 104. she says she doesn't know why she isn't dead yet or why she didn't die 20 years ago like she thought.

That stuff is sobering. I had a cousin drop dead at 31 from an undetected heart condition. Just collapsed in his apartment and never woke up. And coincidentally enough, I had a great-grandmother who lived to be 104. Life is cruelly unpredictable.

For me it was high school. I related a lot to Funeral and The Suburbs, especially the latter where title track and Sprawl II make me emotional. I love Reflektor though, it has this strangely nightmarish feel to it from the Haitian influence that almost gives it a PIL vibe.
My hottest takes on the band are that I hate Neon Bible and love Everything Now.

My Reflektor opinion pretty basic. I think it has some of the band’s best songs and a bunch that are forgettable. But overall it’s still pretty great. The production sound incredible and it was a cool style switch-up.
>I related a lot to Funeral and The Suburbs
Same here. Intensely so.
>Everything Now
I don’t hate this album. It’s definitely better than their last two albums. But in the end, it only has a few tracks I liked. The band’s first four albums are the only ones I love. Even Neon Bible haha.

>The production sound incredible and it was a cool style switch-up.
I've always been surprised they never leaned into post-punk or African influences on their later stuff. They leaned into vapid, U2-type arena rock for whatever reason even though that record, Suburbs, and to a lesser extent EN showed that they could've gone in much more interesting directions.
>Intensely so.
That title track from Suburbs is probably my favorite from their whole catalogue. The songwriting is devastating and has aged so perfectly for all of us.
>So can you understand

>I wanna hold her hand
>And show her some beauty
>Before all this damage is done

>It’s definitely better than their last two albums. But in the end, it only has a few tracks I liked
I don't think it's incredible or anything and I'd probably think it was mid if it didn't come out during such a pivotal time in my life lol.
Still, the title track, Creature Comfort, and Electric Blue are all fantastic songs from when synthwave was at its peak. And while I thought it's themes were too cheesy and on the nose on release I think it's aged better than anyone would have expected.

You guys know there's a new Evanescence album coming out right.
First album 2003; second album 2006; third album 2011; then they went a full decade without any new material and released a shitty pandemic-themed album; last year or so they've released a few legitimately good standalone singles; and 5 years after their pandemic album they released a single for their upcoming album that's actually surprisingly promising.
>>
>>
>>220760479
Yeah I pretty much agree with you on Everything Now. I remember liking Put Your Money On Me. It’s a decent album.
And you’re right about the wannabe U2 direction of the band in their later years. I think Win Butler eventually got too high on his own supply being an arena rock star. But like you said, the writing on the early stuff was so phenomenal. I think almost every song on The Suburbs has a lyric that crushes me. Suburban War is the top one for me in that regard.

yeah, don't to that.i wasn't who you're replying to, but something i learned dating is that more than half of people who go, "oh yeah, casual, no big deal" mean it, but there's a small pie-slice who say it reflexively out of intimacy fear, and if you leave it really hurts them. i had a girl who said she wasn't in the mood, so we just hung out for a bit, ate, watched about half of some horror movie (it was october), then i said i was getting tired, and didn't want to impose on her bed since she was feeling a little blue. so i drove all the way back home, and as i'm laying down to sleep in my underwear, she texts me "i really wish you had stayed." and we went back and forth a little, so i drove back, we put the movie back on, it sucked and she fell asleep on her couch. so then i drove back home AGAIN, and passed out. but the next morning, she texted again and blew me away with this multi-paragraph, multi-text thing about how she's always afraid of people leaving her and how she wouldn't have been able to sleep if i hadn't come over, and some other stuff i won't make light of her privacy by saying. hereditary, that was the movie. anyway, sometimes people just need you to not cut out on them. pause. stay awhile. even if you don't get any nookie. ha

>I think Win Butler eventually got too high on his own supply being an arena rock star
What's weird is that Butler made a fundamental misreading of the whole appeal of Arcade Fire, because it was always that they made all sorts of big, ambitious music that wasn't strictly arena rock or radio crap like Imagine Dragons or Coldplay despite still having some commercial appeal. They never aimed to be super popular chart-toppers with giant singles buoyed by radio play and festivals, they were always the band that people went to explicitly because they were some of the only people making big-sounding music that was cerebral and progressive while also having some popular appeal.
They fit a niche that's probably most comparable to Genesis or Pink Floyd in that regard in a period where there wasn't really much in the way of that type of stuff, and for them to make that turn to trying to rival Imagine Dragons or Coldplay when they were on the downswing in popularity is seriously what killed their career and prestige along with Butler cucking in the face of MeToo stuff.

>>
>>220760841
Yeah I don’t think it ever made sense for them to try to be chart-toppers. They were never gonna compete with Imagine Dragons. Since they had all the critical indie clout, they should’ve just become more artsy and abstract. Be ambitious by doing different weird stuff. Oh well. They had a good run.

>Since they had all the critical indie clout, they should’ve just become more artsy and abstract. Be ambitious by doing different weird stuff.
I think it's also because Butler had a bit of a Pinkerton moment with how divisive the response to EN was. That record was HATED on release by everyone that wasn't a Zoomer, and you can tell he was bothered by it given he put so much time and effort into that record only for it to get such a negative response. So he decided "fuck it, no more weird shit I'll give you reheated mediocre arena rock crap because you guys can't handle an experiment" and then decided to go commercial with the next two albums, which unsurprisingly saw diminishing returns given nobody had any reason to listen to the band whose whole appeal was reinvention on every record anymore.
Which is funny, because now EN has been somewhat reevaluated and developed a following. It's as popular as their big 4 records on streaming and its 4th most popular song is significantly more popular than any of the songs from the albums that have come after.
>I don’t even remember what he was accused of.
The usual post-hoc rape allegations, nothing crazy or wild like Flea or Mick Jagger. Obviously not cool or anything but very run of the mill for rock.

>I think the old rock n’ roll party world had a lot of bad sexual conduct.
I think people in general are fucking stupid for idolizing and romanticizing artists as secular saints and that this tendency comes from either parasociality or stems from that weird blip of postwar celebrity culture when everything about them was very secretive, a la Perfect Blue.
In reality the best artists are often just like the best characters in fiction or history; in one way or another they're deeply flawed, often shitty, challenging, complicated people who are uniquely talented, dedicated, and driven, rising to the occasion and transcending their time to create something truly great, often stemming from their personaly experiences and understandings of their world.
Expecting these types of people to be paragons of virtue is retarded, after all Lord Byron would've been cancelled had he lived today.

that's funny, a guy just sent me daredevil fighting bullseye in some disney+ thing. i didn't even know they had tried bullseye, but apparently they inherited some shit from the netflix stuff, and they did all that there. anyway, it was pretty good! i actually liked it, but i was doing the same thing. every time he killed a civilian just to rile double-D up, i was like "yes! that's bullseye!" i dunno. i think everyone has a wicked part of their soul. better to let it starve in fiction, than exercise it in reality

>My hottest takes on the band are that I hate Neon Bible
It had some good tunes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T703EHtdPwo
>>
Based on the shared 4chan thread from the /int/ (International) board, here is a concise summary of the conversation:
Primary Discussion: Arcade Fire & Music Nostalgia
The core of the thread is a deep dive into the discography of the Canadian band Arcade Fire. Users are sharing their "hot takes" and nostalgic memories, specifically:
Favorite Albums: Heavy praise for Funeral (described as "dream-like") and The Suburbs (noted for its emotional lyrics about sprawl and childhood).
Divisive Opinions: Users are debating Neon Bible—some love the massive church organ sound, while others rank it lower. There is also a surprising amount of defense for their later album, Everything Now.
High School Memories: Several posters are sharing music that defined their teenage years, ranging from The Strokes and Foster the People (Torches) to Green Day (American Idiot).
Secondary Topics & Tangents
"Stomp Clap" Indie: A debate broke out regarding the "millennial slop" of the 2010s (e.g., Mumford & Sons), with some defending it and others labeling it "puke-worthy" marketing.
Internet Authenticity: Users are discussing a video by music critic Anthony Fantano regarding the band Geese, leading to a broader conversation about "astroturfing," bot farms, and the "Dead Internet Theory."
Dating & Philosophy: A few posters are venting about modern dating frustrations, with one user arguing that technology has "vapiditized" gut instincts, making people perpetually unsatisfied.
Random "Banter": Typical of the platform, the thread includes brief tangents on tax season, Evanescence demos, and the "Great Question Mark Event of 2026."
Note: The thread is a "CUM" general (Canada, USA, Mexico), though the conversation is largely dominated by indie rock enthusiasts at the moment.

if you're an indian and your brother is in canada...
>>
>>
>>220764007
You could make an analogy with annual income versus net worth. The annual flow of new Indians into Canada has largely been halted, but there are millions who are still here (until remigration starts).

I'm not going to be kind to mudslimes. They are a pedophilic moon cult who want to murder my family and I. There's no such thing as a "friendly" mudslime. I hope we bomb Iran until it's a smoldering desert. Then we can bomb Saudi Arabia into submission.

Least cucked Canadian. You faggots love to slobber over mudslimes and think about them as kid. I don't care if we are alienating them, i want them gone. If we want them gone, we need to start bombing their water supplies and what farms they have. Fuck the UN and hwo they scream war crime. I rather see dead muslims

a german guy sent me this "joke"
German walks into a bar and orders a fancy beer.
The bartender tells him : "100 euros!"
The German is shocked - "100 euros? yesterday it was only 10 euros !"
"Well, today it is 100 euros."
- "But why 100, damn it?"
Bar tender : "I'll explain it,
-10 euros is the beer,
-10 to help Iran
-20 Euros assistance to Gulf countries
-20 euros in aid to the UAE.
-Then 30 euros are for Israel
finally, 10 euros for a gas subsidy for the EU and fund to help maintain sanctions!"
The German silently with internal anger took out the money and gave the bartender 100 euros.
The bartender took them, entered in the cash register and gave him 10 euros back.
German in disbelief : "Wait, you said 100 euros, right ? I gave you 100, why are you giving me back 10 euros?"
".....There is no beer."

As if it’s our fault they don’t have community search efforts and don’t talk to the police

Women are subhuman as well
Not a single man will give a fuck about your 17 step skincare routine or which brand of clothes you have or if your clothes are in season
That’s all shit women care about yet women act like we give a fuck

Define "God" for the class.
And funny, no mention of jews that crucified your false god, but "mudslimes" that respect him apparently will lose. Care to explain, or does your "god" keep getting helpless?
