Picked up a Carcano 41. Picrel. Any of y’all have experience with the clips for it? Seems like I get at least one double feed per 6 round clip.

If you're gonna shoot 6.5 or 7.35 carcano you should look into reloading, like >>64835843 said Andy Steinel is expensive.

Hot damn. I'll just keep the M44

Mosin is worth more than a Carcano. Last I remember a carcano (at least the models with flip out permanently attached bayonets) were like $125. Mosin carbine is at least $250. I say that assuming by "trade" you mean trade and not sell and buy a Carcano.

Not much better online. I'd expect close to if not $1/rd at least. Maybe $1.25. Oh and the fun of bullet diameters with Carcanos...

Some guys operate differently, but I wouldn't recommend getting rid of a gun to get an equivalent other, especially when the guns are inherently collectable. I find that even with guns I own but don't shoot, are still a lot of fun and are interesting to have around as an example of its kind.
I have an Arisaka I bought 9 years ago, still haven't shot it, but I still would never let that one go

It's a nice type 99. I don't shoot it simply because I'm too cheap to spend $40 bucks a box. I still have a little 54r and 56r from quite a long time ago, so I'll shoot the M95 or M91 on occasion.
But to be honest, it's more fun to shoot rifles that hit point of aim, than ones you have to apply quite a lot of Kentucky elevation for. I could fuck around with drifting front sights or replacing them, doing some shimming ect, but I really enjoy them as they are, even the ones with frosty bores lol. Also, none of them are for sale under ANY circumstance.

Yes it is. It was 300 dollarydoos. I didn't bother haggling because the Cabela's guy handling my purchase was an old man who fell on hard times and sold his dad's Arisaka to the store.
In retrospect, I should have still bought it, but I should have just given the rifle to him. I love the rifle, but I guarantee he loved it more. Which makes me sad, but I see myself as kind of a steward for these old guns, especially ones like that old man's rifle.

Even the last ditch rifles command pretty good prices. The supply of Arisakas is limited and they will never be made again. The only ones that seem to be selling for the lowest of the low are smoothbore training rifles, simply for the fact they are un-shootable.

I wonder if it's possible to load low pressure handloaded rat shot that's simply crimped at the case mouth like a blank.
That could be a fun use. Unless the steel is even weaker than I already think it is

There just isn't really much pressure with a blank, not sure if the cheapened design was strong enough to handle anything more than a blank, even though rat shot would only be a somewhat marginal increase in pressure.
