I expect a subversion of expectations as in the sense of their relationship not being all tensed up like in the show but instead just two teenagers being attracted to each other and falling in love at worst possible time (they have a war to deal with) after all this will be the first time both of them will be having a relationship with someone the same age

How many characters in ASOIAF have come back from the dead at this point? 4? 5?

Walk with me, my sweet summer child, and hear the tale of fat pink masts jutting into sopping wet myrish swamps and black nipples brushing against silk until her cunt became the world while in the privy the princess guzzled arbor gold and shat but the more she drank the more she shat until she was shitting brown water and around her the planks of the ship groaned like a fat man taking a shit while she cursed the gods and nuncle smiled as he broke his fast on black bread, bacon burned black, and mulled wine while capon-grease dribbled down his chin and onto the boiled leather of his jerkin for she was wet with love and did she not know words are wind and dark wings bring dark words and a lannister always pays her debts and mayhaps this is nothing but a mummers farce and useless as nipples on a breastplate and the princess has been fucking lancel and moonboy for all nuncle knows and he is the blood of the dragon for the night is dark and full of terrors but where do whores go and jon snow knows nothing and near enough makes no matter so nuncle smiled and dipped the heel of his bread into clam chowder and prayed for half a hundred more heh har HODOR

aside from all the foreshadowing, george has confirmed to d&d the whole story will come down to jon and dany reuniting and it will have a big impact on the whole plot
what will come out of this relationship and what will be this big impact is still to be seen (if the books ever get an ending)

He said their stories would converge. It might just mean they fight on opposing sides in the final battle.
If Jon is resurrected as the Night's King then he'll be on the side of Ice while Daenerys will be on the side of Fire

I see a lot of discussion online (reddit, where else can you find discussion any more) about the new TV show and the Novellas, and I am seeing a lot of reference to the Ware of the Ninepenny kings and the reforms of a baby Aeg, grandfather to Aerys. I’m only halfway through Storm of Swords, and I was wondering do the conditions of the ‘third estate’ really factor that much into the broader story and the conditions that make the main series? Outside of Arya’s plot I haven’t seen anything about the small folk, or their opinions and thoughts, and maybe that’s by design. The brotherhood without banners is so far the best part of the series, yet it seems the theme of their plotline is just an Elden Ring demo, and not the small folk’s relationship with the nobility and clergy.

Nope, it was doomed from Jaehaerys being a shit father and pussywhipped, trusting maesters and Hightowers. He left the kingdom with a bumbling fool who was obsessed with prophecy and then re-married with the first woman who listened to him, daughter to the most obvious villain maybe ever and then he goes on to be an even worse father than Jaehaerys was and drags his feet with succession. If Viserys wasn't a retard he would have told Rhaenyra "Either you marry Aegon or I am stripping you of your title as heir" and if she threw a bitch-fit over that then boo fucking hoo. Alicents worst crime was being a shit mother and misunderstanding her dying zombie husband. The dance could have been prevented if the line of Aenys wasn't full of cucks and retards.

To be fair, this Ned was talked into all of this, taking the position of Hand by his wife after she gets some stupid coded letter from her schizo sister. Following Jon's and Stannis's bread crumbs to all of Robert's bastards. Cersei and Robert clearly hate each other and their marriage, and Robert doesn't interact with the kids at all. Cersei killing his bastards because there are like 20 of them and ALL of them look like Robert. And then Ned straight up asks Cersei if the kids are Robert's or Jaime's and she just straight up says yeah they're Jaime's kids lol.

>Only three I think: Beric, Catelyn
Beric and Catelyn are dead-dead and have no souls, they're essentially biological computers with corrupted software running on ROM.
>and Ser Gregor
He's a soulless meatpuppet.
But Varamyr died and came back to life, albeit as a wolf and of course Jon Snow will come back to life and he will have his soul, which had been safely ensconced in Ghost.

Now that the knight of the seven kingdoms show is a thing, how will everyone react when they adapt the lacklustre sequels? The first book is good because Duncan is the protagonist of the story, the 2nd and 3rd books immediately fail because dunk the lunk becomes s side character in someone else's story. He barely even impacts the endings.
>1st book he causes the events by his choices, he's the one true knight saving a damsel in distress from a "dragon".
2nd book, a lord and a lady are having a spat over water. Duncan duels the lady's champion and is wounded. When he wakes the lord and lady have decided to just marry each other. (insult to injury the lord dies a couple years later and she married Tywin's ancestor, so what was the point?)
3rd book Dunk decides to join a joust, because the first one went SO well. It's all a ruse for a blackfyre no one likes, so no one wants to fight for him. So he gets arrested and executed, while dunk is just...there?
I think george just wanted to write 2 short stories and decided to bolt Duncan on as an excuse to claim they're relevant to the series.

Actual blackpill: Both books have been essentially finished for a few years now, but the massive backlash to S6, 7, and especially 8 has left him way too insecure to just release them because even if some routes, character arcs, and developments play out differently in the books, many of the broad main end results that people hated are still going to be there, such as
>Dany going mad
>Jon killing her
>Bran becoming king

>>have no souls
>they do though, there souls are bound to their corpses
No, Beric and Catelyn are soulless robots. Their bodies have been reanimated by R’hllorian magic but their souls went wherever souls go after their deaths.

>"Once, at the Citadel, I came into an empty room and saw an empty chair. Yet I knew a woman had been there, only a moment before. The cushion was dented where she'd sat, the cloth was still warm, and her scent lingered in the air. If we leave our smells behind us when we leave a room, surely something of our souls must remain when we leave this life?" Qyburn spread his hands. "The archmaesters did not like my thinking, though. Well, Marwyn did, but he was the only one."

>ramblings of a psychopath
The entire point of the Varamyr prolog is to set up the return of Jon Snow, who will _not_ be a soulless automaton like Beric and Catelyn as his soul had safely warged into Ghost.
