This
Beltorchika's Children Isn’t “canon” and veers off considerably from the movie.
At the end of the day it was a way to make more model kits to sell, such is the reason for any Gundam property existing.
That being said, I like the Hi-Nu in CCA colors better than the regular Nu-Gundam.
Nightingale is straight ass though.
Honestly everything after the OYW is kind of ass but I digress.

>missing out on Tomino's original vision
>missing out on the Nightingale
You aren't gundam fans, you are bandai lapdogs

Nightingale is a bloated mess.
I’m assuming OP asked this because he’s a newfag and hasn’t been watching Gundam for 25 years and wants to catch up before the new movie drops.
If he goes with BC, he’s going to be all fucked up when he watches the new Hathaway movie.
I would argue BC does most shit better and makes Amuro less one dimensional. I would also argue CCA does some things better too.
I can’t defend Nightingale though.

On one hand, narratively, it’s cool to show the fully deluded and corrupted Char pilot the physical manifestation of that delusional corruption. Thematically it’s actually very cool and well thought out.
On the other, purely aesthetic hand…
Sazabi is just a cooler, sleeker machine and something more in line with what Char has alway preferred to pilot.
It’s a Gelgoog on steroids and cocaine, the kind of machine the gallant Char would take into battle against his historical foe.
Nightingale has this kind of biological and non-utilitarian look to it. I especially hate the shoulders and absurd amounts of thrusters. Why even bother with AMBAC when this thing is just an enormous blob with thrusters.

>he’s a newfag and hasn’t been watching Gundam for 25 years
Correct, I started last year
>wants to catch up before the new movie drops.
Nah I just want to finish the Amuro Char saga for now, I havent decided yet if Ill watch unicorn and the rest of the uc
Im just confused because there seems to be a lot of CCA versions, and the catalog doesnt seem too fond of the movie

That's one thread, that sounded like there was a storm of CCA threads all shitting on it.
Regardless, /m/ is pretty retarded. You're best off just checking out the movie, then checking out the other versions afterwards if/when you want more.

It was the birth of Light Novels era and Gundam was one of the biggest series at that time so there was a publisher war going underneath there.
So Tokuma Shoten first contracted Tomino to write the High Streamer novel which is faithful to the movie and Kadokawa got off to a slow star t but then whispered to Tomino's ears that he can write the novel version of the original pitch and BC was born.
(Same Kadokawa editor who later made Tomino to write Hathaway's Flash novel which is the BC sequel and CrossBone manga which is kinda F91 sequel)

they're kind of orthogonal to the core CCA Char/Amuro story, just watch that stuff afterwards
this is the method of maximizing your enjoyment of CCA

Tomino starts work on CCA > original script gets rejected > Tokuma Shoten contacts Tomino to write a serialized Gundam story for them (Hi-Streamer) > Hi-Streamer devolves into CCA adaptation > Tomino takes original script and turns it into Beltorchika’s Children
>>

As convoluted as it sounds, the way it happened was : Hi-Streamer starts being serialized a year before the movie happens, and it's a stand alone novel project just like Gaia Gear and Hathaway's Flash. Then the movie project gets approved and the idea becomes to use the premise of Hi-Streamer and call it Char's Counterattack. Instead of doing a literal adaptation, Tomino drafts a scenario that starts at the middle of the story and includes a new subplot about Beltorchika being pregnant. Her being pregnant and making Amuro a father is not well received by the producers as they thought it could distance younger audiences from the main character and the result is that the movie follows the second half of Hi-Streamer hand in hand instead. After the movie is out, instead of throwing out the draft with Beltorchika, it was turned into a novel the following year because the man has to eat, and the following year he does Gaia Gear, and Hathaway's Flash, F91, as well as V Gundam the next two years.
To sum up, in Hi-Streamer you get a whole proper beginning to the story we see in CCA, while Beltorchika Children works more as a novelization of the movie with changes to characters and subtle details.

>Isn’t Nightingale explicitly better than the Hi-Nu in BC, as well?
Not that anon but yes. That is Correct.
Before Hi-Nu Gundam received the psychoframe data, Char literally felt insulted that Amuro designed such a weak Gundam.
After Hi-Nu Gundam reiceived the psychoframe data, the suit was still underpowered compared to Nightingale.
Nightingale actually defeated Hi-Nu Gundam a few times during the battle, but Amuro was protected by plot armor. His newtype baby created a super forcefields that protected Amuro's suit from attacks.
