Is this response accurate? Prompt:
>I'm playing guitar, and I was practicing the Locrian mode, first I was playing A Locrian, then I moved the box up to C, C# and D, and then back down to A, and even G#. It sounds good, harmonic and cohesive. In music theory terms can you expand a little bit on what I'm actually doing?

LLM's know nothing but jacking you off. To be fair I don't know much about theory myself. But I do know Locrian is 1 b3 b5
whole/half Diminished scale is a symmetrical pattern with repeating stacked minor thirds. It's in the name itself, so repeating those things in minor thirds work. Even moving them a third, then half step above or below, then another third

Ordered some Curtis Novak PUPs for the sunburt JM too. I forgot how shrill the Pure Vintage 65’s are. I put my blue JM in drop D and did an A B with the burst JM and it doesn’t even compare how much fuller the Novak PUPs sound.

I was thinking of getting a Marshall Model 5010 but now I'm in between these three Laney options
>Laney GH50L
since it got that a modded JCM 800 sound to it
>Laney Iron Heart IRT-SLS
might not ever need 300 watts but it's got cool modern day features like AUX, headphones, DI and FX loop
>Laney Supergrace Loudpedal Pedal
It's a collaboration between Laney and Billy Corgan Signature I mean it's a Supergroup preamp in a pedal that can be used as an amp. I got a 4x12 cab that I can hook it up at 16ohms and it's got a bunch of cool features too but I'm skeptical since nothing can beat the sound of tubes

start everything in the middle and adjust each one +or- to your ears.

Depends on innate talent. Everyone has vocal ranges, though, so you should try to find which key is most suited to your voice. Then, practice songs in that key, and transpose other keys into that one, etc.
>>
>>129330366
it's not something i've ever actively practiced. i think it has to do with always singing in your head. i've been doing that since i was a kid. then i hit karaoke one night and got treated like a rock star

Sweep picking and economy picking. Use a compressor if you want to up the difficulty level.
>Exercise
Try to play a perpetual motion machine, where you can do a pattern continuously.
You build endurance and can work on each “lap” to tweak what sounds better. Here’s what to shoot for:
>economy of motion
>ideal picking location/distance
>string skipping limitations (use SWYBRD)
The idea is that you can turn on sweeping, economy picking, and alternate picking on demand.
Picture your pick following your finger’s whim - or, like I do, chasing down some PNCA student in the Lone Fir Cemetery (PDX).
>GOAL(s):
First, arthoes. Second, develop the facility that you can turn on sweeping, economy picking, and alternate picking on demand. Hell, if you drag your thumb while sweeping, you can get pinch harmonics (especially with high gain).
Personally, the slime has been doing economy picking on acoustic, where my pick is using the least amount of effort between parallel strings. Because I can’t rely on low action with 9s, I have to adjust for string thickness and the amount of effort to keep dynamics in check.
Bonus tip: you don’t have to sweep perpendicular to the strings. Experiment with diagonals (over pickup verses adjacent to the fretting hand). Use pic related for guidance

What does this mean in terms of singing? Just hitting the note you want without any reference?

NP, Anon. You should find a key very 'easy' to sing in, also its relative minor key. I wish someone told me to practice singing and playing at the same time earlier on in my path. I am a clumsy retard though.
ps.. buy a strap and always sing/play standing up
>>
>>129330996
I play & sing simultaneously when I can, I live with my parents though so I have to find times when I'm alone because I'm embarrassed of my singing even though it's not awful
>find a key very 'easy' to sing in

>perfect pitch
This anon is wrong. You can’t develop perfect pitch reliably unless you’ve had it at 4. Chinese students have it more because the tones of their language are constant. Basically, they practice these pitches each day as their voice. Exposure to piano at a young age is another method. Even Beato’s hapa kid is proof of this.
I think the dude meant “relative pitch”. Yeah, work on that. You should feel your throat make the appropriate pitch before sounds come out, as you’ll hit a vocal ramp up to the pitch.
Try it. Sing a fucking D. Then pause, sing the motherfucking D again. It’ll be easier and more in pitch, less ramping. Aim to get in the motherfucker range instead of just the fucking range.
>Failure to do so will make you pitchy and a PERFECT BITCH
If you had perfect pitch, you’d already feel that D by thinking about it.

>>129331058
Just 'noodle' with your voice. Go for a walk in a forest and do some relaxed mockery of country, jazz, rock songs. Speaking voice and singing voice are related but not exactly the same, but some of the best advice I got was 'singing should be as easy as talking.'
Another way is to humm single notes along with a reference, like a piano or your (tuned) guitar, and see/feel which ones you can do without effort.
>>
>>129331109
I will. I wish I lived alone though so it'd be easier for me to practice singing. I have no issue playing my guitar in my house but singing seems taboo even though my dad sings all the time and has played an instrument since he was a teenager.
>>
>>129331105
perfect pitch is as dumb as those squiggly "true intonation" frets. it doesn't matter if your pitch is perfect, what matters is if you are in tune with the people you are playing with. a good ear beats perfect pitch every time unless you're a solo artist
>>
>>
>>
>>129331058
>find a key very 'easy' to sing in
You have to know your range. For me, this goes (deepest to highest):
> Bass
> Baritone
> Tenor
Anything past here gets rarer (ie. boy sopranos like Klaus Nomi)
On top of that, your voice can be in 5 registers (or a blend of the adjacent ones):
>Whistle tone
>Falsetto
>Head
>Chest
>Vocal fry/diaphragm
Each of these has a break. For example, I have to switch to falsetto for anything above a G4 (3rd fret high e string). This is considered a break, where it’s difficult to maintain a timbre through phrasing without pausing. Otherwise you can get yodeling, which I believe is like glottal stop in linguistics.
You can also change the resonance, which deals with mouth shape, you can hit harmonics, like throat singing.
Advanced beyond this is extended techniques. Like, you can do the meatwad voice as like an “effects pedal”. I do voices, and I attribute this to my time spent doing impressions. Kermit the frog isn’t that far from Going Up the Country by Canned Heat.
Try it and try switching between voices. Congratulations, you’re Tim Buckley:
https://youtu.be/yUmK7rgiMM4?si=VqLJKyvGew3ruCLa
Listen to that switch when he sings at 1:15ish “anyway-aaaa” (chest voice, opening mouth, wide vibrato), transitions to head voice at the “oooo but darling, and he uses the throat tightening to add some character to the alliteration “sun shown down”.
Just sing along with Tim
>>
>>
>>
>>129331309
>Whistle tone
>Falsetto
>Head
>Chest
>Vocal fry/diaphragm
of these the only one that sounds good and doesn't fuck your soft tissues is chest. also chest and diaphragm are the same thing and vocal fry doesn't have anything to do with your diaphragm

Haven’t recorded anything with it yet. Not going to blast my amp this late, but I’ll probably get some time tomorrow to do so.
I owned the V4 version. This one is better. The clean blend adds back the low end that gets lost with bluesbreaker pedals. Also adds some pick attack. Translates to a snappier breakup tone. Takes a Klon very nicely without losing any of the attack or getting muddy at all. I also own the benson preamp, and I very much prefer this over that one. No shade thrown at the benson, but the morning glory has a more jangly or gnarly sounding gain

I think I'm finally understanding the fretboard, at least when it comes to where notes are & what half-steps/semitones are
>B-C is a semitone
>E-F is a semitone
>A-A# is a semitone
>Etc
Other than that I'm dedicating a little bit of time to saying the notes as I play them, starting on a single string from open for right now
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>129334453
Scales and the relationship with chords. Semitones become irrelevant, as counting them is superseded by thinking in terms of chord shapes and interval patterns. There’s only so many, so just plow through them until you unite all these seemingly disparate elements into a more cohesive gestalt of playing.

Thanks
Yeah it's got a lot of stuff in it I'm barely able to utilize. Also has a looper and a freeze pedal.

Nice. What song is this? MTV flashbacks

When you are improvising you will hear how different notes sound in context. When you know what note you are playing, you can remember how to recreate that sound and find it in other places on the fretboard. If you can't do this, licks are just lightning in a bottle.

Thanks, it’s original. That one is more straightforward pop-emo, but most of our stuff is inspired by cap n jazz, Glocca Morra, and Algernon Cadwallader.
This is a song we are still writing vocals to. We are pretty satisfied with the instrumentals though

looks like clip art come to life
looks like something a cartoon character from the 90s would own and play on at the school talent show or something
when god was making amplifiers, he was mad pissed off that day he made this
if you play on this thing you gonna get laughed out of music school and yo girl gonna leave you for a freshman jazz pianist
basically, I would rather cut my own eyelids off and spend eternity watching old reruns of jerry springer than play on that thing right there

no fool. you can make music at any age, many boomers still do today. course, your tastes and abilities might change with time, but as long as you have a foundational education and you're dedicated enough, the sky's the limit.

We work with what we have.
Kanye West released his first album at 27 & rap is considered a "younger" genre
Debbie Harry started Blondie at 31 & a womans looks deteriorate sooner than a mans
Just take care of yourself & no one will care how old you are unless you're a geriatric
>>
>>129334932
You can start whenever. The only time it'd really be over is starting in your 60s/70s
Most of us can't talk because we started as children with way more free time than you have. But being an adult learner has advantages in that you should be able to learn and grasp things quick
Stop bitching, 25 isn't even old

>25 isn't even old
You have less time to dedicate to making music than you would earlier in life & even if you're really good the chances of a label picking you up are slim because of your age though you could just lie if you look young.

It's too "on the nose" and that's completely withholding that it's another run of the mill shit solid state. Crates and Peaveys from the past century still run but you could have this novelty gag for a sweet $700. Pawn brokers love to use these for dust collecting. They know what they've got.

70's bubble font and starbucks logo.
Colorful tolex is nice because millennials hate color. They love minimalism so much they actually will love owning nothing.
Orange is a little bit farty because that's what letting low end get through the amp does, so they turned the amps into Marshalls with only give or take little bits. You can probably get more sounds you don't want with the older configuration, but that also opens up more sounds that you can get. At least it's not Mesa where you need to know the three settings on the five band graphic eq that you're going to actually use and how they're going to interact with getting the other eq to within half of a number and whether or not those should be pushed or pulled to boost. rating, strong 8 / 10 brand

I walked into a local mom and pop shop and there was some lgbtq looking person. I pulled out my phone and pretended something came up and just walked out. Look, I don't have anything against that stuff, but I'm gonna be real with you: I'm homophobic. I'd rather not shop at that place because it makes me unconfortable.
