Happy new year cunts!
Was thinking what kind of roo bar would complete the look but don't think anything would fit well. The US cop cars had push bumpers but nothing bigger than that.
currently with an exhaust shop to replace the severely rusted out exhaust with a h-pipe and 20 inch mufflers on both pipes, as well as an o2 sensor bung for the carb cheater. even though it was a short drive it was very fun.
got pulled over for an rbt and none of the cops gave a shit that it had no plates. when he saw me trying to pull my loicense out he told me to not bother O.o

yeah when you mentioned the lift kit i got curious and just found out about the world of off roading falcons. surprisingly not-insignificant amount of aftermarket off roading support for these cars, very neat

Their hilarious the local beach entrance is fucked this things so light it just jumped up and down no problems irs just makes it scamper everywhere like a buggy and it's so light it doesn't sink
Had a gq before it would bog and get stuck this thing I don't even air the tyres down
I have an identical turbo project that's heavier and it's hilarious on the dunes

Honestly, push bars were relatively uncommon until the 80's. Maybe the big departments in cities like NY would have something but most departments were broke so their rig was minimal at best.
Also, needs to be black and white.
>>
>>28795485
yeah the only ones ive seen for that year model either have two tall fat posts with rubber stuck into the bumper, or a thin piece of steel bar (looks to be the size of a piece of steel rebar) bent into a square upside down U shape which looks like it wouldn't even nudge a car without bending.
technically speaking, it is black and white. ok, maybe ivory/cream.

IMO,none. If anything, the two vertical bars so it looks like a push start setup for your racecar. I'd be more inclined to search eBay for the proper wheelcovers.

I actually had the original 14 inch wheels with those wheel covers. I swapped them out for the 15 inch police wheels and hubcaps they used on the 80s cop cars. Gave me better options for tyres, plus the 14s just looked tiny in those wheel wells since there doesn't seem to be any mega fat sidewall options in that size.

>>
>>28794786
It's really strange how so few 70s and 80s cars are around compared to in the US. Seems like you will still see an old Caprice or Buick daily over there but I've probably only ever seen that kind of Dodge here just once.
>>
>>28800675
i think it depends on where you are too. a guy that used to work at the sydney branch of my company relocated to the brisbane branch and he was telling me how there's a lot more people that daily a classic up there, or at least don't hide it away just for the weekend.
also probably the ride quality...they slap on 19 and 20 inch simmons wheels then probably bitch about how harsh it rides lol

shame wankers are ev'ing them instead of keeping ice or putting something fun in it like a bike motor

>>
>>28801086
Honestly they're a good candidate for EV if you just want to cruise the beaches. The original motors are pretty shit unless you really know what you're doing, the gearboxes don't shift well, they're slow and noisy. I love them, but for someone who just wants the look then an EV is a solid option.
Wouldn't catch me doing one, but still, it does make sense

finally got the exhaust done. a guy rocked up to get some stuff done for his van I think, turns out he was also into mopars and now i've got a wrenching buddy. he saw the carb cheater and was very curious about it, he knew about it but wanted to see how good it was. Wanted to record a data log but the phone got too hot and it closed the app RIP.
Wanted a H pipe but they put in an X pipe...bah. Important thing is, it's so much quieter, but you can hear it when you're romping on it.

Mokes rusted badly if left outside. Most were crushed for rust problems. I love how open they are; such a fun car.
>>
>>28801157
>carb cheater
Is it useful? Heard a bit about them, seem pretty cool
>>28801183
Unfortunately yes, only the last two years of production were galvanised which helped a whole lot. But before that they just fall apart so quick.
>>
>>28801186
VERY useful. tacho, vacuum AFR gauges and optional gps speedo all in one, with data logging 5 times a second. iirc you can record up to five 3-minute logs and you can view it in the app, on the carb cheater website, or offline.
You can use their own display which has a smaller screen than a galaxy a11, or download the app on any android phone. if you wanted you could just buy some cheap burner phone to do that with.
i was able to dial the idle vacuum to about 18.5 inHG which was about as good as i could. I might be missing something but I dunno. Pretty sure the timing was set to 12 degrees too, if not 10. AFR was floating around 13.5-7 idling. I think the WOT circuit or whatever it was called was around mid 12s to 13, briefly saw it while I was driving since I didn't have a phone mount.
but I really do love how I can see all this shit as I'm driving.
>>
>>
>>28801198
ya. it makes a pretty loud ticking/tapping noise at idle but it might be the fuel pump cam thingy or valvetrain noise. Seemed to quiet down a lot after driving it for a bit, or whenever I'm on the accelerator.
>>
>>28801192
ahh ok I just looked it up and the data logging feature is currently app only. dunno if it will become available via their own display. up to five logs can be stored for up to 30 days, I'm assuming it'll overwrite a log (oldest? or maybe it lets you pick, I dunno yet) if there's already five.

Due for an oil change soon? Put a cup full of diesel in the motor, run it til its hot, then dump the oil. Works as an oil flush but better than the bottle stuff from the shops.
If it still ticks after that change, then prob new lifters. No big deal pretty easy job
>>
>>28801283
definitely due for an oil change. it's sat for at least a year and a half with the same oil and i'm starting to drive it more and more on the same oil. I know I really shouldn't...but it's so fun to drive...
>then prob new lifters. No big deal pretty easy job
oh great. will ask wrenching buddy next time i'm over there, he's been working on some crazy sbc build so i'm sure he's got the tools for it.
>>
>>
>>
>>28801305
dunno. i just know that they're the police hubcaps and wheels for the 74-89 chryslers, and that i really, really like the look of them. it was hard to decide whether to paint them body colour or no, but in the end, black steelies won out. these are oem wheels because the reproductions apparently don't hold the hubcap as well so they tend to fall off. and these hubcaps aren't cheap anymore either.

If it does, then... I'm afraid my >>28801428 doesn't hold as much water, and it unfortunately falls to you to examine what caused this and seek to change it WITHOUT looking for her back.

experienced fuel percolation for the first time when my dodge wouldn't turn over while it was fucking hot the other day. found out that i just had to keep the throttle slightly open and crank it for a really long time before it finally turned over. need to block off the heat crossover...
also been using the carb cheater to dial it in, can never seem to get more than 18.5 inHg of vacuum at warm idle. Noticed that the vacuum goes to 20 at 1000 rpm but that seems pretty high for a warm idle no?

radiator flush gun from super cheap auto. pulse the trigger when the cooling system is full of water. blasted out a lot of gunk from my radiator with it. not all, but enough to let the car drive on the highway for much, much longer without overheating.
>>
All this talk of radiators reminded me that my local shop closed down after 80 years in business last month.
They were great and old school and cheap, just a big shed with welding equipment and a tank of water and stuff, had all these old hand tools. And the guy was very friendly.
Last radiator I had cleaned there, he took the tanks off, flushed/cleaned it all out, welded the tanks back on, even gave it a quick paint. Was like, $200.

there used to be one fairly close to me in a pretty run down house/shack sort of building. Sounded kinda similar to your one actually. I still remember walking in there one day and seeing a customer's holden apollo in there, I think it was the first time I ever saw one in person.
There's still some around the place, a shop quoted me 250 bucks to clean mine out if I brought the radiator to him which I'm definitely gonna do. Seemed like he was annoyed with giving quotes to classic car owners that never followed through lol

zozzle cops chasing a bike earlier tonight. probably doing 1 over the limit or something.
anyway, bike rev bombs a dump truck as he [the bike] rolls through a red (not sure if he was warning people he was rolling through), and the truck starts honking quickly, dunno what happened before, i like to think that the truck was telling him to fucking run but who knows. in any case cops aren't too far behind. then two cars turning right completely ignore the blaring sirens and lights, then a camry also cuts off one of the chasing cops.
good fucking luck trying to catch a bike though.

fml. took my radiator to that shop to get it cleaned and they did, the inside looks all nice and clean...but i think they just dipped it in acid only or something like that. thought they'd remove the tanks and rod the tubes out, but i can still see some rust flakes clogged up inside two tubes through the filler neck. also turns out the radiator cap i got was bad apparently. not even a month old RIP. Oh well 5 bucks so didn't hurt too bad.
I should've figured the shop wasn't gonna take it apart to rod out because when I asked them if they were gonna rod it out they just said "we'll clean it"

nah motorad from rockauto. made in mexico (the other, OG mexico)
i'd be surprised if i could get a rad cap from repco for that cheap. I had a spare thankfully, hopefully it was just a dud but if this one fails too, I've got a tridon cap I got from supercheap...not cheap though. 17 bucks RIP

i replaced the repco one with a tridon too and it held on for about 20k kms before i killed the car. 17$ isnt really that much lol especially if it means not overheating ur car

ford did the same thing with the twin turbo crossflow in the 80s. i think they were intentionally trying to kill aussie manufacturing. idk why though most of our cars were well received worldwide. maloos and monaros were sold in the UK as vauxhalls even

Did he actually get one though? It's hard to believe anyone actually wants one as they were notorious for being the Aussie equivalent of a Yugo

a very good point. I've spent 10 bucks on these two caps as well so if the tridon one lasts a lot longer then it's paid for itself and then some.
