Alright the CB750 has tires.
Next I have to find where I left the pin for the rear drum and figure out why I can't find first/other gears.
Already tipped it, glad I half assed that tank paint job.
In moving it around, it may be too large for me. 5' 7"/130lbs is too small to flat foot and I am just barely able to get the thing up when it goes down.

Its the shoomer janny targeting system
Texas bros has modified his super shoomer kinda like how Q from james blonde has smoke screens and rockets
Except everything is bigger in texas and americans kicked the asses of british and MI6 during their mango revolution
So, in this modern day fruit of the shoom republic; people lile texas bros has a targeting system to foil the plans of any would be bri'ish glownigger, and dispose of them with his flames of fury- they dont use smoke around these parts except to smoke meat, and, since suppressors are legal in every way, his subsonic machinegun arraymment both doubles as a butt massager for the girlfriend, and blasts jannies with .50cal boolets at ease
Nobody hears the revbombs of death

>and in case you were wondering, no that isnt a gear indicator, its for the backpack escape parachute ejection system
Did you know? His helmet has lazers attached to his head? Thats why the roadway always clears out when they see the glint of his passing in the rearview mirror

Sadly all these spytoys are banned in leafland: im forced to use less than lethal syrup slicks
One day thoughbeit

Get a different seat so you can flat foot it

Re-do the clutch cable, you probably don't have any gears because the linkage is either broke, not attached, or stretched beyond the point of function.

Even at 5'7 you should be able to flat foot the 750. The seat may be too cushy and wide to allow your inseam to be more vertical.
>>
>>28909968
Also. Frame sliders / rash bars if you find yourself dropping your bike too much
>>
>>28909968
Good point. Ill let the bank account recover a bit, but put a seat on the list.
I did redo the clutch cable, it seems to be adjusted fine. I did have 1st at one point, and think consistently may have 2nd, so pardon the wording.
I should feel the gearshifts with the bike not running right? I was thinking about pulling the side cover thing and watching the sequential move through each gear(sort of expecting to find some part of that broken.
I will get some frame sliders/rash bars if it comes to that.
>>
>>28909837
>5' 7"/130lbs
Thats not healthy.
You dont need to flat foot both feet. If you can get the ball of both feet down thats good enough.
Are you lifting it right? You put your back to the bike.

For a cheap alternative you could peel the leather skin off the seat then carve the foam of the seat to fit.

>Should I feel gear changes when not running
Yes and no.
So you should be able to drop it into first gear or second without issue but won't be able to get in the other mentioned gear unless you physically roll the bike. If it shifts when you rock it back n fourth then it should be OK, maybe you need a fresh clutch pack or maybe it's something as simple as a previous idiot putting a disc in the wrong way or forgot the judder spring (assuming the CB has a judder spring)
At worse it could be the dogs in the transmission being worn, but I don't have enough information to confidently tell you that's the problem.

Better seat, confirm your cable is 100% proper, take clutch disc's out then either replace or just measure them with micrometers to confirm thickness (honda manuals have values of what is in spec and what is not)

Seems like a solid cheap adv, you can go full immortal and get the old model if you just want to putt around or get the new 450 and apparently it's still very reliable and people like it a lot, you get a lot of bang/buck and it's one of the better looking advs imho, there is an anon that was riding it in recently.

Anons are crash bars just a meme when the bike body is narrower than your handlebar? i get it on big ADVs where the fairings are so wide but on my svart they aren't probably needed, right? i'm still trying to cope with the idea of taking it offroad but seeing stuff like this makes me really worried about it.

It's my dash cam system. In that picture it's in rear view camera mode which is where I usually keep it. It has front and rear dash cam recording at all times, TPMS, and GPS navigation functions.
I one on my zx14 and one on my gixxer.
I rarely use the navigation because I like to keep my sense of direction sharp, but it's nice having the security of camera recording at all times and the function of the rearview camera and tpms.

not my pic just one i found online. i was thinking normal gravel/unpaved/easy trails and for sure at slower speeds, i know it's not a dual sport so i can't ask much from it but on the opposite end i saw some slovenian dudes taking an xsr and a pilen on some really absurd trails and recently an aussie using one for some fast offroading even hitting a couple of little jumps so i guess the guy from the pic was probably going stupid fast and was also very unlucky with the fall...is it coping? i'm too new to this stuff

Sell the svarty and ger a wr250r or something like that
Wont get hiway sneeds but at least youll be happy and trying with a successful goal on your mind, instead of compromising and hoping for the best
There really is no jack of all trades outside of adv, and unless you modified yours like mr.jackalmanguy's and shave off like 50lbs with extensive modding plus rider experience, thats like a $20k usd mod job just to make it something its not out of the box
Meanwhile 2-6k all in used shitter dual snort has everything you needed
Maybe drz400 because its baste
Dont buy my crf450rl, you cant handle these shooms
>using other bikers failures
I dont think ive seen another poster dooing this with their model make, admirable albeit hilarious

unfortunately where i live now the used market is shit and very expensive, there is little choice and all the countries i can reach for a day ride have a strict no-offroad rules and they actually do check stuff. i can reach france where is tollerated in some ways but it's not italy where it's full of nice trails.
Manlet height is also a problem, i was looking at crf300l but i only found one used near me and it's still a 5k bike, it's more expensive then what i paid for svarty. a scrambler seemed like a good idea because it's literally impossible for me to go even just unpaved unless i'm planning for a little adventure, and if people with maxienduro/big adv go there i can probably go there too with a bit of skill, right?
stuff like dr350 are 4k, we don't have the klx300 and xt250 so it's only drz400 (freakishly tall, i tried) and still very expensive even used because there are very few or old enduro stuff that is sold at slightly less the price of the new chinese dual sport like the voge300 or rieju aventura but with the dubious quality of whoever took care of it and let it rust over in the last 20+ years and the seat height problem.

> dont think ive seen another poster dooing this with their model make, admirable albeit hilarious
shoom i was using it as example, i never took svarty off pavement and every weekend i chicken out on trying. i even said that seeing stuff like picrel made me scared to do it
>At least youre a hasbike and not larping
shoow it's me, i've been posting my beta when i had it and now svarty when i get some new pics of it. went to italy for a 2 day crash course on trailriding and did "great" for a first timer until i hit a big rock going downhill and slipped the rear and ate shit. if i could find another beta here i'd 100% get it but i can only get the chinese new one and again...>6k eurotoken and no place to store the second bike
>>
>>28910282
>Anons are crash bars just a meme
Entirely depends what touches the dirt when the bike is on it's side, because when you wipe out hard, that's the parts that will bounce/cheese grate off the ground.
>>
>>28910360
Was that you riding? Shit nibba thats a loose pack for gravels, youre lucky you didnt died from splatterkill on one of those trees
I wouldve just gone slower or if you can, taken the grass
Gotta pick lines, you were fishtailing like fuck from the getgo, was this on the beta or the svartie?
I didnt realize you were beta anon amd graduated to scrambler school, shit bros, EU markets fpr used sucks that much ass?
>2 day crash course
Just gonna SEND it

I think you could make a drz400 still work with a lowering kit, maybe sumo rims sith knobulars and enoygh traction exist for you?
I like my kenda rear on my crf450rl its gooder

Im pretty amazed you took that loose pack, and downhill, as a zero offroading experience rider
Some moisture on that wouldve been a different and more forgiving story
If you aint sure just back off the throttle a wee bit and take it easy bros; gravel is unpredictable for various reasons: pack, density of stones, recent weather, elevation or slope for washouts/channels, dust, traffic can bury thick stones and chip away the smaller stepping stones for your bike
Your best bet to feel out the svarties capability would be to locate the nearest farmer/country road that isnt a privatized EU shitfest, wait for a rainy day, and go early morning the day after it rains and the dew isnt exposed to the sun
That way when the sun comes up you can test the varying dryness after and maybe some of your former trails?
RIP hoonigan life, EU is gay

Hard to tell on the video, but it looks like you were following the guy in front fwiw, and the dotted red line you took following had several large exposed boulders that both fuck up balance if you hit them for the next several seconds after the fact, and fuck your spokes if you connect them at the wrong plqce at the right time

Its just a 16 second clip, but the green path wqs less traveled, a 60/40 split of gravel and grassy areas, and though its close to the edge of the trail, a slow enough descent wouldve been the safer bet when confronted by all that fishtailing you experienced
Hard to tell otherwise without more details like your body positioning and riding habits during the descent
Were you on footpegs or sitting the whole time?

a bit loose but only in certain sports, most of it was packed dirt with just some gravel on top but it was very inconsistent road and big smooth loose rocks, like grape size smooth rounded rocks, i was going ok trying to find a line then i saw a really big one sticking up right in the middle and i bit fixated on it and hit it dead on with the front.
It was with the mighty beta alp 4.0 from 2006 with wrong tires as picrel was the day after the crash.
guy in front is adv dad with the g650X, i was basically trying to follow him a bit as far as lines go. right side was more big rocks desu and where you see grass on the right it was like 30cm then a steep drop as we where riding above a vine plantation on a hill so not the safest place to be in case of slipping.

So what we did was we where riding and i was getting taught how to handle it as we went, and we started with easy just dirt roads around fields and went up a notch every time he saw i was going well, we did some similar steep uphill and even an even looser uphill with a 90 bend on top and i was really going fine all day, i fell because i was going too fast trying to keep up with the old man really and it was the final road of a couple of hours of riding trails, day 2 i slowed down and it was a bit better i was also more relaxed and moved better on it.

The best thing about those comments is the self filtering nature of it. Most people don't truly understand horsepower, most people don't understand the relationship between torque and power, even more people only look at peak power and rarely do they consider the area of power throughout the rpm range, and then after all that, everyone forgets that horsepower really is just a marketing term for 550lb-ft/s

I haven't had owned a motorcycle in 5 or so years because I became a cagefag and decided to buy picrel on a whim as a cheap way to get back into it.
Overall it's really clean but I had to unfuck the carbs. The previous owner before I guy I bought it from put a fuck huge jet kit in without any other modifications and couldn't get it running right. Then he sold it and that owner just dealt with it for the few times a year he actually used it. As I was going through the service binder I found a few pages of screenshots from an old forum where he asked why his bike is running like shit after swapping the jets. It was 3 pages of people telling the dumb fucker to just put the stock jets back in. Not sure why he printed that out but im glad he did.

Need better tires on your beta, thats the verdict
You might as well be riding slicks you have no grippy kn those
Your partners bmw have better traction knobulars, but not the greatest for what you guys rode, still looks like a 70/30 tire, not quite fuller 50/50 knobies

Fuck i missed this. i think it's handlebars and perhaps radiator? i haddalayerdown once when i slipped on mud when i stopped on a road recently and i really only touched down with the handguard but i had the advantage on being on an inclide on the side i fell.
for ease of mind i could get a set i guess, they could help in case of a normal accident on the road too
I assume the puck style/simple bung do more harm on dirt as i assume they just stab down and become pivot points so since it's just a piece of bent tubing for the proper bars, are chinese ones something i should consider? i assume the OEM get made for real cheap by them anyway but giving 200 coins for a set seems a bit steep, seems like every OEM accessory is 2 times what it should cost

The bad damage is when eg the handlebar turns left while the bike falls on its right. On more offroad intended bike the parts that can touch ground are usually plastic so you can easily replace them. If metal tank can hit ground it’s pretty shit.
>>
>>28910710
Chinese bars aren’t that much worse usually in terms of protection but sometimes they are so out of spec you need to hammer them pretty hard or make some holes bigger for them to fit.

Or stab your dink
Theyre truly a meme outside of a flat tarmac- and even then are outclassed by a full size bar
I guess theyre okay for the rear wheel axle slider because if you go down on asphalt with no gear back there, your lugnut is usually the first point of contact and will get shaven down and fucked, if not also friction weld the threads its already torqued to

It's fake, but GOY is actually available in Texas. Kek.
No, no app, surprisingly. A little over a year that I've had both units. They work really well. Connection is easy. Stability tested mine up to 170 mph. Only complaint is that the TPMS isn't super accurate but whatever. It's accurate enough to let you know if your shit is dangerously low. Maps have randomly died on me a couple times and I had to stop and reconnect but I think it was my phone that caused it.
There's tons of different units but this is the most purchased and highly rated. Not the cheapest but at $190, it's hard to scoff at for everything you get.
You need to put metal valve stems in for tpms sensors.

Chrome is starting to pit and rust. Only true fix is to strip and re-chrome, but you can clean up very nicely with 0000 steel wool. I know it sounds sketchy but I promise I'm not lying. Chrome is the only thing that can be cleaned this way, though. Do not try it on polished aluminum or polished stainless steel.

Yeah I like the shimmy. At first it felt weird and it made the bike feel unbalanced or unpredictable, but after I got used to it, it just started to feel like flavor. Now when I ride my other bikes that don't rock to the side, they feel sterile or odd.

I will say that the V7 is definitely not a bike you can ride fast. It's hard to even ride it to its limit because the frame feels very unsettled when you start pushing it through corners. The rocking of the engine and the shaft jostling really do become noticeable in that context. The ground clearance is also really low. Even though it looks like a standard bike, it rides more like a cruiser than you'd think.

got a pay raise at work so I have money for a new bike (in theory)

what is a fun, relatively cheap bike that I could get as a 2nd bike?

requirements
>fun
>relatively cheap
>does something my current bike can't really do

the issue is that my current bike is already a jack of all trades. the only thing it can't really do is offroading, but I don't think I'd ever do that enough to justify a dedicated bike. the other option is a supermoto or sv650, something that's light, fun, and small for days when I don't want the relatively large Tracer

I've got some good onboard footage but it's too high res and too long to put into a .webm but they are some very pretty trails around me, some are just dirt tracks, others are really technical rocky ones but they're all good.

>>28911369

It's not too bad on thinner tyres, my dad rides with me on his KLX250 and it manages absolutely fine, you've just got to learn to ride on surfaces like that, I must say it's quite scary when you ride a bigger ADV bike on it because you feel the weight shift with every slipping rock and you just have to kind of allow yourself to internally shit yourself whenever it happens because if you tense up you're going for a ride - which I did the first time I rode that trail lel, earned this battle scar on my crash bars for the privilege. I'm glad I fitted the lower crash bars though because people in the owners club say how they're bad and make you get stuck, which may be the case in tractor ruts but they've already paid for themselves 3 times over on mine, I think if I hadn't had them I'd have cracked an engine case by now.

I actually find track day boring

Yeah track days are fun but over rated. If you're not club racing they're just you trying to get better lap times on a track you have been around 1000 times. I would love to club race but I dont have the time or money for that shit.

Yeah that’s the truth. I bought it new in 2018, the year before they released the 300. After I spent a bunch of money uncorking it, I could have just gotten the Yamaha WR. Still, I enjoyed it, and had a lot of fun on it. I eventually sold it, which was probably a mistake, but at least God has blessed me with a different but similar dual sporp

first fucking trip to the gas station, the nozzle doesnt click off and the shit overfills.
luckily the pizza engineers at moto guzzi left a gap between the actual gas tank and the trim that covers the area around the fuel cap hole, so it didnt over the sides onto the paint.
it just leaked down all over the engine instead, which i guess it better.
also only 34.2 mpg

I fully support ditching the CFMoto for a CRF300. In my honest opinion, you should put that money into ditching the Chinese bike for the Honda. Otherwise you’re literally burning money in the long run. You don’t want to get caught holding the bag when you could have got the Honda that will always retain its value, and last a lifetime, and frankly it’s a better bike.

I ended up getting a 1986 Yamaha XT350. It’s pretty rough around the edges but it’s mechanically sound, and I love the kickstart. Wish modern dual sports came with one. I can fix almost anything with a Leatherman on the side of the trail, and I’ve had it so long now that I know all its nuances and quirks. I keep saying I’ll get something made in this century when the XT350 dies, but realistically it’s older than me and if it hasn’t died by now, it’s probably going to run forever.

>>28912123

I totally understand not liking a Chinese bike, I wouldn't have touched one with a bargepole usually but I couldn't ignore the universal praise, and I can't deny how well made it is. The only cheap Chinese part about it is the use of cheaper zinc plated bolts on the bike, otherwise I can't see or feel any difference in quality between this and a few Hondas I've owned myself over the years, new and older.

I do love the Honda but I also want something that is decent for doing a bit more road touring too, and having ridden a few before I'd definitely want to sort the squishy suspension out for sure. Ultimately I'll see how I get on with it and make a decision later but I am absolutely loving it so far, the hype definitely isn't unwarranted it really is a very good bike, especially when you consider the cost.

Also I absolutely love the older dualsports, there aren't many about in the UK that aren't fucked or going for way too much money, I'd love an old Yamaha or Honda if they were more available.
>>
>>28912128
Not spoon feeding, I'd just like to know which aspect(s) in particular you think is worse.

Saw a Sportster S at a local dealer...its loaded.
>Jekyll and hide exhaust
>full heritage set
>crash bars
>Corbin seat
>windshield
Corbin seat looks like shit though, deletes the rear tail and squeaks on every movement. Sissybar underplate is also rusted...
Call Harley to give an estimate for the parts to return it to stock, $1,100 and change, and Corbin has non transferable warranty.
I'm kinda getting into them but I think I might grab a stock one and rip the pipes off.
The bikes been there since last season and they tried to get me to pay a prep fee on a used bike...
Anyone know a good national seller that ships? I know national powersports.
I found a dealer in PA with a good price but they're so remote getting there will bring up my cost. A penske was $1100 est.
Also Happy Easter!

The chinks push a hard bargain. Those Ibex’s have made it stateside, and I even know a redneck chud who rides one.

I still have to support the idea of a jap bike. You may not even be able to get parts for the CFmoto in the next few years. Have you considered a DR650? With a few simple mods (lol) they’re pretty capable for touring, especially with a throttle lock. They’re cheap, built like dinosaurs, and they rip.

Might as well ride the snot out of the CF but man I’d hate to see you put money into it, when you could be putting that same money towards a jap bike. You should also consider swapping out while the CFmoto is still retaining its value.

Either way, and no matter what, I’m just some anonymous guy on the internet whose advice is worth what you pay for it. I think no matter what you’re going to be out there on 2 wheels having fun, and that’s all that matters :-)

>>28912138
Those things are pretty spicy, and cheap to for what you’re getting, especially second hand. I’ve ridden a few of them, but my only hang up is those awkward forward controls. Harley makes a mid control kit which frankly I found to be a game changer. Rides like an MT-10 with the mids but says Hurley on the tank. Me likey

I was originally into the Nightster but the Dyna style isn't for me and I figured why not just go for more power, in the long run the price difference is worth it.

You actually just stick the nozzle in, pull the handle until it clicks into place, and wait for it to turn off? I don't even touch the bike with the nozzle, I hold it just far enough away that I can see the gas shooting into the tank, then I wait until I can see the gas level rising to the level I want it at.
